This review relates to HEM London
This review relates to HEM London. I am posting it here because this is the independent Trustpilot profile for Home Hosts Electrical Ltd, the company that carried out the work.
I used HEM London for a fixed-price package of electrical works. One of the main items included in the quotation was the installation of an indoor socket, which was never installed. Immediately afterwards, the company accepted that the price should be amended and that a refund was due to reflect the work not carried out.
Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward job became a series of remedial visits. Rather than being completed during the initial visit, the electrical work resulted in three further visits to rectify or complete it. I was subsequently charged for two of those visits. The indoor socket included in the quotation was never installed. The outdoor light fitting was damaged and had to be repaired. The replacement spotlight required further remedial work. The dimmer was replaced without any prior discussion that it would not be a like-for-like replacement. It has since stopped working altogether, and I have had to hire another electrician to fix it. The work also left stains on my carpet and ceiling that had not been there beforehand.
What concerned me most was how the company handled the refund. Although it accepted from the outset that a refund was due because the indoor socket had not been installed, almost two months passed without any refund or explanation despite several reminders. It was only after I indicated that I would have to pursue the matter through my card provider that I received a retrospective breakdown of the original fixed-price quotation into individual tasks and time allocations. I disagreed with that methodology, particularly as much of the additional time had been spent correcting issues arising from the original visit rather than carrying out new work. At the time of writing, I am still waiting for the refund.
The combination of incomplete work, repeated paid remedial visits, damage to my property, and the handling of my complaint and outstanding refund has left me with no confidence in this company. I cannot recommend HEM London or Home Hosts Electrical Ltd to anyone looking for reliable electrical services.
Overcharged, no data protection and ignored...
I paid to have an Electrical Certificate which came back with some works needed and a £421 bill. I paid this invoice, but the following morning was sent another invoice for £100 less - even though more detailed works and parts were required. HEM said the second invoice was for another flat in my building and was sent to me in error.
They told me the electrician would also have a look at another issue I was having while he was there to see if it required an electrician or a heating expert. He had no awareness this was required and was finished in 15 minutes. He also wee'd on the toilet seat and didn't wash his hands.
Since then I've been asking HEM for reasons why my electrician cost nearly double that than of the other flat in my building, and asked for clear breakdown of costs for parts considering I also was charged more for fewer parts. They have refused to provide me with clarity and have only provided fluffy, long winded emails treating me like a bit of an idiot. Essentially, they've charged me over £100 more than another flat when I needed less work. Because it was an agreed fee to secure the date and time, and they know people need Electrical Certificates, they are getting away with this behaviour, as a prepaid invoice is much more difficult to argue.
Don't book HEM.
I needed an EICR report and it…
I needed an EICR report and it initially seemed very fine but once the job was completed they said it failed and wanted nearly £1k to put it right. I thought I was being scammed so called another electrician for another test and it passed straight away with no extra work needed.
I'd say best to avoid the company!
Terrible- I wish I had read the reviews…
Terrible- I wish I had read the reviews on Trustpilot before booking an EICR via the myconstructor website. I would recommend you avoid them.
I am sharing my personal experience…
I am sharing my personal experience working with a company operating under the name Home Host Electrical. Unfortunately, after completing the agreed-upon work, I was not paid for my services despite multiple follow-ups.
This experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing, especially given the time and effort invested. I’m sharing this publicly so that other contractors, freelancers, or potential partners are aware and take extra precautions before working with this business.
This is just my personal experience — I hope it helps others make informed decisions.
Do not trust them
Rubbish service, do not trust any plumbers they send. I booked on behalf of my landlord through 'YOUR REPAIR' landlord insurance. Job was given to Home Hosts and they sent a plumber.
First day he took pictures and went away. A week later I reminded them that I'm still waiting for repair. They said someone will come between 3-6pm. Waited 3 hours and no one came. Again they gave me 11 am-12pm time for today. Again no one came and after calling them they say they can't contact the plumber!!!
So they wasted 3 days.
Be careful of this company!Scam!
Be careful of this company!
I have got a EICR certificate done with the firm and firstly they miss the appointment and pushed it to three days later.
then they pick on some small fuse issue - the fuse fitting MCB is not ties to the hob and ask for 140 pounds to fix it. a MCB box only cost 2 pounds but they charge 24 pounds. and 120 pounds for human which might take less than 15 mins if this is an
The funny thing is that my rental flat is new build back to 2020 and fuse fitting and hobs are fitted by the developer. I gone back to the developer and they sent a consultant to check it and confirm it was not a problem as the flat issued EIC when completion. If the fuse box doesnt fit initially, it would not pass the first EIC test. Also it is a flat within a block and no other neighbour had same problem.
Also i found this firm from website and they disapear from the marketing of the website now. I wonder what qualification they have and pure scam.
Be careful this company to scam landlords! Try other firms!

Highly recommended. Thank you!
Richard and Philippe were/are fantastic. Very quick turnaround, swift and efficient communication before, during and after. They not only worked to identify the problem but also undertook checks to future-proof as well. Highly, highly recommended. Thanks both!
Avoid at all cost!
Avoid at all cost! The owner has no dignity, avoided conversation on the payment, eventually decided not to pay for the service we provided to his company. If you are looking for a scammer Richard is the top one!
Such a incompetent company my godness…
Such a incompetent company my godness Richard is acting like a kid and hes managing the company , his promises of completing the Jobs on time are delusional but worst of all hes avoiding contact when his promises go south. Waste of time and money hawk tuah. Never again
Terrible
This company guaranteed 5 working days but it took 2 weeks to get e report. No one rang, emailed me. The report also missed out plug sockets claimed furniture was in the way. This delay resulted in me loosing a tenant. The company wouldn’t even give a discount. It’s bad business, your reputation is everytime. I’d never use this company again.
I had great service from Jay
I had great service from Jay, he was very friendly and efficient
Avoid at any cost - Home Hosts Electrician Ltd
Avoid Home Hosts Electrician Ltd - I wouldn't hire this company - they profit from people's misery.
Beware. They offer discounted rates for EICR, then send amateur electricians who fail it, generating invoices for further unnecessary work. They refuse to provide failed certificates and ignore emails and calls, leaving you trapped. They push for unnecessary additional jobs. Despite a recent professional upgrade - new consumer unit, cabling etc, they failed my EICR and generated invoices for further work £275.
I ignored as I smelt a rat and call another company who passed it the next day. Their electrician left a mess, didn't leave a sticker on the unit as required by law, and exposed circuit breakers, posing a grave danger. They're unresponsive to complaints. Avoid them at all costs; it's a scam!
Stay away!
Came out to give me a eicr. While here said something was wrong and failed the eicr. Came back to fix the 1 sockets but apparently there was something else wrong which they did not tell me. Played with the fuse box and said sky eicr had passed except they wrecked the security system. Now the alarm keeps beeping. An issue which never happened prior. They sent back the electrician who said they “fixed it” as a temporary measure but do not turn off the power ! Again this was never an issue prior. Now the alarm system is still beeping and when I try and contact home host I get no reply! Awful company. Will be taking this further
Great communication and prompt service

Jay S was excellent, so polite and professional. 10/10 service.
Good service and fair price
Jay conducted the Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) efficiently and issued the certificate promptly. I highly recommend his services.
