Daylight robbery

Very comfortable bedroom (N° 762) with excellent and varied breakfasts at the Intercontinental Barclay, New York. Staff in the restaurant and bar were very friendly but the system of Amenity fees is outrageous. Full details are not supplied on the website. I had to pay $50 per day but only could use $30 for amenities that I had not necessarily requested. Furthermore, what was not spent on one day (- $30) could not be used on following days. Yes, outrageous.

Fortunately the system has not to my knowledge been introduced to any European country.

On another note, the Intercontinental Hotel is the only I have ever been to of its class, where toilet brushes are not available in bathrooms.

Do not trust the price match guarantee

Do not trust the price match guarantee. I am left 200 euros out of pocket when I should have just used my brain and booked with the third party offering the experience for cheaper.

They have acknowledged they do not have the cheapest rate by a large margin but because they have a marginally cheaper one, they won’t match.

InterContinental Barclay New York

We were a little apprehensive to book this InterContinental Hotel, due to the really bad reviews. However, we have stayed in other InterContinental hotels around the world and never had an issue. We had a few issues but they were resolved to our satisfaction. The hotel was an excellent location for all the items on our itinerary. We would like to say a special thanks to Gabriel, Arthur, Jorge and our housekeeping staff. We were comfortable in our room and housekeeping cleaned our room promptly every day. We only had breakfast once in the hotel and felt it offered a good variety of options. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at the hotel again. One small bugbear was that room service dishes were left for days outside guests rooms. I am sure this could be resolved very quickly with an amendment to the current policy.

Terrible cleaning, unhelpful staff at a high cost

Hotel staff were unhelpful and room was not ready at check in. They moved us to the resident tower with 2 rooms. We were only us as a couple so it was no benefit, further away, room cards did not work at breakfast because we were technically not part of the hotel.

Additionally room had not been cleaned properly as there was a lemon wedge under the table on the floor. It was still there when we left waiting to greet the new guests after us I am sure.

Jacuzzi in the spa was broken day 1, then cold at 33 degrees (they would not make it warmer). We came to the hotel to use the spa so we were extremely disappointed.

Never again

I stayed at hotel indigo Tower Hill London and was really impressed! It was a great hotel and staff. Unfortunately since check out the accounts dept have been in the verge of criminal ! They have charged me twice for my stay but refuse to accept it and I am hundreds of pounds out of pocket I will not go with IHG group again

Intercontinental Hotel Sydney, simply the best.

Recently stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney Australia Macquarie Street.
It was a 3 night pre cruise stay for my wife and I.
We have stayed at many Hotels all over the world and I would rate this Hotel as one of the very best if not the best.
The Hotel is in an excellent location close to the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Circular Quay.
Our room was superb on the 21st floor and overlooked the Botanical Gardens, there is an indoor pool on the 31st floor that over looks the Opera House and Harbour, I used it every morning, great way to start the day. Buffet Breakfast was included and was the best we have ever experienced including the service.
The Hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Rooftop Bar was amazing especially at night. The Lobby and Lobby bar was also excellent.
I cannot praise this Hotel enough.
Our next visit to Sydney, we will certainly be staying at this Hotel.
I would like to thank all the staff for making the start of our holiday so enjoyable, and look forward to our next stay.

My stay at InterContinental was simply…

My stay at InterContinental was simply unforgettable. The hotel staff, led by Manager Ayesha, treated me like royalty from the moment I stepped in. They surprised me with a complimentary room upgrade, and the view from my suite was breathtaking. Throughout my stay, the attentive service from the concierge, Raj, and the restaurant staff, Amir, made me feel pampered. InterContinental Hotels truly knows how to create a memorable experience!

Disgraceful smelly room with tiny bathroom at inflated price

During Edinburgh festival allocated us the worst room in the hotel (dinghy, inadequate daylight, smelly, stained carpet, tiny bathroom) for our first night although booked months in advance & advertised rack rate of £475 per night! And no walk in shower as requested by us 80 year olds with artificial knees & hips.
We were swapped to a better room for rest of stay but this bad experience, which they failed to correct when we rejected the room affected 25% of our stay.
We subsequently requested a modest refund for this night which was refused - even though they were making massive profits from the inflated rates during the Festival!

Non-existant customer service

We stayed at the Intercontinental O2 in April 22. No issue with our stay as such, however my husband left his Ted Baker overcoat in the wardrobe when we left. We telephoned the same day and was told they would look into it. We heard nothing, we contacted via telephone again and via email. We chased again and were told that it could not have been found and that was the end of it. Pretty poor, we are IHG Reward Memebers too, I guess we wont be for much longer as wont be supporting the group.

Hotel Indigo Liverpool staff are rude and aggressive - management are useless and disinterested at the hotel on the hottest…

We arrived at the hotel on the hottest day of the year, over 35c.
My partner was waiting in the car while my son and I checked in.
There were 2 staff at the desk and one other person in front of us.
After about 5 minutes the other person was dealt with in about the space of a minute.
We were then asked to wait while the desk clerk finished of a payment.
The other clerk was still dealing with the same customers.
After about 10 minutes, there was still no movement, so I asked whether her doing admin was more important than dealing with guests.
She could have acknowledged her difficulties and asked us to take a seat or enquired whether we needed anything but no, she was only interested in her own admin.
My other half was outside, baking in the heat.
I was treated with a very aggressive and rude response and she said that she needed to finish with the previous check out before she could deal with me.
I said that it was unacceptable to be left standing there for so long without any reason and I asked to see the manager.
The clerk, Kayleigh, just stormed off, away from the desk, and left us standing there.
Eventually after about 25 minutes we were eventually dealt with by the other clerk.
When I eventually spoke to the manager, she was not apologetic at all.
She was more concerned with the fact that her clerk was upset and that she was having problems with the systems.
We have all heard that excuse before but she could have acknowledged that she was having trouble and dealt with us in a more friendly way.
We both felt like we were more of a nuisance than a guest and the manager’s attitude was appalling.
The next evening we encountered another incident.
My son and I were returning to the hotel after playing some pool in Matthew
Street and we were stopped at the door and asked for ID.
This is fair enough.
However, another group arrived, with suitcases, and were led straight in to the hotel.
I complained and said that I should have been dealt with first as I was there before the other guests.
I was told that that they knew the other guests were checking in so they took priority.
I insisted that this was wrong and we treated with a tirade of abuse and we both felt like criminals.
Ronnie actually squared up to me in a really aggressive manner.
My son thought there was a chance he was going to hit me.
Eventually when the agent, Ronnie, realised what I was complaining about, he calmed down and offered us both a complimentary drink.
This was all a bit too late.
Some of the staff at this hotel are charming and helpful.
However, some are aggressive and rude and let the others down.
The manager dealt with the complaint in an amateurish, uncaring way and was only concerned about her staff.
She asked me what I wanted and I said that the desk clerk should be fired or put on a major training exercise.
She said she would do neither bit and would do something for me.
She never did anything and never acknowledged me or followed up once during the whole stay – she just does not care.
I have stayed at many IHG hotels over the years and have never encountered such shocking service.
Some staff are overly aggressive and should not be customer facing.
The management is out of their depth and out of control.
I also note that there is no record on my account of the 2 bookings and had to get Guest relations to reinstate them. I suspect they were deliberately deleted so I could not leave a review.
I have escalated to Guest Relations who made a takin effort but have not really dealt with the issue

The room was supposed to be for…

The room was supposed to be for disabled access and the shower was up one step, the room quite dark and the with poor lighting and the bed was not assembled properly. Hopeless!
The next morning we had a cold buffet breakfast and despite 4 members of our group complaining nothing was done. I complained to Dora on Reception and was told the Duty Manager was absent. In the evening I also complained to the Duty Manager and was offered a voucher for the bar. I asked for 2 Cappachino's and they were also cold. We would never stay here again Shameful!!!

York Hotel indigo 👍

We recently stayed at the York Hotel Indigo and everything was spot on. Every staff member we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and the pizza in the bar area was delicious.

I booked for two adult+ child but i don’t know how it came out only two adults!!! I drove from Newcastle to Birmingham I arrived 7.00 pm with two autistic children and my husband we been there and the hotel didn’t accommodate me I was ready to pay extra but they didn’t help!!
I ended up with tears and looked all over Birmingham to find hotel but I cudnt afford most of them as they were too expensive!! Am collapsing financially I booked hotel in Birmingham only coz my son wanted to go to sea life!! I know my booking was none refundable but I didn’t cancel it down they didn’t accommodate me and I really need money back!!!
I don’t think they are welling to refund me!!!
