I've wasted three days waiting for the same delivery which doesn't arrive. From what I see via the app the boxes aren't even getting loaded onto the lorry.
The phone centre staff just say anything to get you off the line and even just put you on hold and then hangup.
I've got to wait for my 4th delivery attempt now. I have contacted IKEA maybe a dozen times now and am beginning to suspect that most are have no interest
in helping and may even get a kick out of giving customers the run-around! Especially most (but not all) of the ones in the call centre/customer support.

We ordered a bookcase with doors from IKEA, but unfortunately received the version without doors. My husband and I then spent 2–3 hours assembling it, only to realise the mistake afterward.

When I contacted IKEA, I was told they would only replace the item and would not assist with disassembly or reassembly. While I understand replacement is part of the process, the lack of support—especially after the time and effort we had already invested—was very disappointing.

What made the experience worse was the tone of the customer service representative, who came across as if offering a replacement was a goodwill gesture rather than a basic resolution to their mistake.

Overall, this was a frustrating experience. I expected a higher level of customer care and support, especially from a company of IKEA’s reputation. Unfortunately, this has left me with a very negative impression of their customer service.

IKEA kitchen. Don't do it

Don't go to IKEA for a kitchen. The price they quoted me has doubled since I agreed to it with lots of additional extras which I was not made aware of. Their measurements were all wrong so I've had to remove several cupboards. All the appliances they sent were not what I ordered and they refuse to take them back. It's been well over a month since I've had a usable kitchen and there's still no worktops, tiles or connected appliances. Just avoid at all costs I regret going with them and would never use again

IKEA besta cabinets

IKEA besta cabinets - practically made from cardboard. Absolutely shocking quality as I read elsewhere, the packaging is studier than the actual product!

It's like they made something, then repeatedly made it thinner and cheaper until it literally fell apart then went back one stage and said "it's done"

I don't understand their logic - I would have happily paid a bit more for better quality materials (which must make up a small part of the overall cost).

Multiple Order Issues and Incomplete Resolution

I’ve had a very poor experience with IKEA across multiple orders, and unfortunately this reflects a consistent pattern rather than a one-off issue.

First, the GULDFLY cushion covers (Orders 1588590825 and 1589808076) arrived with a very strong and unpleasant smell. After washing at 30°C, they shrunk significantly, and one of the covers had a broken zipper. While a partial refund (£13.05 out of £24) was issued, the remaining amount had been paid using IKEA points and has not been refunded.

Second, the SALTSJÖBADEN 2-seat sofa (Order 1593221031) arrived with a defective cover, with stitching already coming apart upon assembly. I was offered only £48 compensation, and at the same time my warranty was voided — which is extremely concerning and not reflective of confidence in product quality.

Additionally, in Order 1585855580, the price of the DANDERYD table dropped just three days after purchase, before I had even assembled it.

This combination of quality issues, limited resolution, and lack of flexibility has been very disappointing. As I do not have a car and the nearest store is over an hour away, returning bulky items is not a practical solution.

I would appreciate a fair and complete resolution to these issues, including reimbursement of the outstanding amount paid in IKEA points and a more appropriate handling of the defective sofa.

Very disappointing overall.

Quality no longer a consideration.

In the last sixteen years or so, the quality and range of IKEA furniture and accessories, etc, has deteriorated significantly. This company is no longer what it once was in providing cost effective, yet well-made products. Now most is nothing more than junk, some of which is expensive, over-priced junk! Cheaply made products have no justification when their life span is measured in months not years. Having personality trained certain staff working for IKEA HQ in Sweden, my experience is more than just as a customer.

Incomplete present

I really LOVE Ikea and all it does BUT I only wish they could have their own delivery service. I ordered a desk and office chair for my son who has just moved into a flat in London and since he does work from home quite a bit, I treated him to these 2 items and since he is busy, I took a few days off and travelled 200 miles to build them for him as a moving in gift. I ordered them well in advance and booked the weekend dates. All good. However, only the desk legs arrived. I didn't even see the driver as he left them in the lobby without informing me. I phoned Ikea and after a 20min wait, was told that the desk top and chair were not scanned and had gone missing. How annoying as I'd purposely booked the time off and needed to get on with building them. The lady at customer service was brilliant and reordered them both but since the desktop was now out of stock, there was only one store that had one and it would take a few days to arrive. Anyway I've built the legs and have had to travel back, disappointed that he still hasn't got what he wanted. How can things just get lost? They have my name on them and must be somewhere. Such a shame as it tarnishes Ikea's name 😕.
I'm arranging another trip there soon as I really want to see them finished but now my son has to take time off work to receive the reorder. It does put me off ordering from Ikea.

Awful!

Awful!! Ordered drawers and drawer insert online to click and collect. Drove all the way to get it and only the drawer insert was there! Absolute waste of my time. Now I’m left with a drawer insert and no drawers. I called and spoke to customer service Nicola who said she would not refund the drawer insert I had to waste even more time going online to create a return!!! Absolutely joke! Now I’m waiting for Emily manager to call me back within 72 hours! I won’t be surprised if that doesn’t happen but I will take the complaint further if they don’t!!

Absolutely shocking experience ikea

Absolutely shocking experience with IKEA – avoid at all costs.

I placed and paid £383 for furniture that was in stock at the time of ordering. From that point on, everything went wrong.

First, my locker collection completely failed because IKEA never sent the access code. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes, I was told the order was “there” but they couldn’t give me the code – meaning I couldn’t collect it at all.

I had already taken two days off work to build this furniture, which were completely wasted because of their mistake.

I was then told it would be delivered instead. Days later, with no communication, I contacted them again to find out my delivery time – only to be told my order had been CANCELLED days earlier without ANY notification. No email, no refund, nothing. They were still holding my £383.

To make things worse:
- Items I had already paid for were suddenly “out of stock”
- I was told to choose a different item and PAY MORE (around £60 extra)
- Delivery is now pushed back even further – over a week later than originally planned
- The only “compensation” offered was a £15 voucher

So to summarise:
IKEA took my money, failed to provide the goods, cancelled my order without telling me, tried to charge me more for replacements, and left my family without essential furniture for over a week – including a 3-year-old living with clothes and belongings piled on the floor.

Customer service have been completely unhelpful throughout – long wait times, conflicting information, and no real resolution.

This is not a minor inconvenience – it’s a complete failure of service from start to finish.

I would strongly advise others to think twice before ordering, especially for anything time-sensitive.

I’m disappointed with my recent…

I’m disappointed with my recent experience with IKEA.

I placed an order which included a chest of drawers (the main item) and paid £35 for delivery. I added smaller items to make the delivery worthwhile.

My order confirmation (31/03/26) stated the delivery would be split into two consignments. However, on the delivery date (06/04/26), only the smaller, non-essential items were delivered. The chest of drawers was then cancelled and refunded on the same day it was due—six days after being confirmed.

I have contacted customer service but have not received a response.

The main issue is that I paid £35 for delivery of an order where the primary item was not supplied, and the remaining items were only purchased because I was already paying for delivery.

I am simply seeking a fair resolution:
• Re-delivery of the chest of drawers,
• Refund of the delivery charge, or
• Collection of items and a full refund

I hope IKEA can resolve this promptly.

I wouldnt advice ordering online with ikea, the order gets placed , confirms its in stock for delivery to lock up, takes your money, confirmation email and texts within 2 mins of receiving confirmation you receive a cancellation email rhen are told you can only get a refund that takes 14 days ,
Arrange for instore collection the same happens confirmation emails and text only to be followed by cancellation email
The money goes out of your account straight away and it takes them 14 days to return your money DISGRACEFUL

PAX 2.0 waste of time and money

Ikea has changed the design for the pax wardrobes and they are now calling it pax 2.0. I use to build Ikea furniture day in day out for task rabbit. The new design is absolutely terrible, the build quality is shockingly bad. They have ruined what use to be a well designed and reliable wardrobe. After years of building Ikea furniture I have just moved into a new house and decided to purchase a pax wardrobe for just over £1000, after assembling the wardrobe I wish I hadn’t wasted my money. The new “no tool” system is a joke! The new feet are terrible as can only be adjusted a quarter of a turn at a time due to being too close the the edge of the wardrobe making it difficult to get an Allen key onto the bolt for the leg. The wall bracket system is flimsy and poorly designed. The click in top for the wardrobe moves position through assembly and isn’t secure at all. I can’t explain enough how disappointed I am with this wardrobe, I could purchase a better quality wardrobe from Amazon and that’s a bold statement as I have built many different wardrobes from Amazon and they’re all useless.

Refund with no explanation, incomplete delivery, and poor customer service

I recently ordered an IKEA HEJNE storage unit online for delivery to my local Tesco store. The ordering process itself was straightforward, but everything after that was deeply disappointing.

A few days before delivery, I received an email saying I was being part‑refunded, with no explanation of what was refunded or why. As I ordered a complete system including extra bracing and foot covers, this made no sense and left me unsure what I was actually going to receive.

On the day of delivery, I arrived at Tesco in my allocated time slot and followed IKEA’s guidance to look for a blue IKEA van. There wasn’t one. After asking Tesco customer services, I was directed to a battered, unmarked white van with the driver asleep inside. Hardly confidence‑inspiring for a brand like IKEA.

When the goods were handed over, it became clear why the refund had happened, the unit had been delivered without any shelves. At that point, the delivery driver told me the shelves would arrive the next day and that I had to accept the delivery, with no option to refuse it.

After contacting IKEA Customer Services, I was then told the shelves were out of stock. My options were:

Return everything, or
Wait until the shelves are back in stock and place a new order, paying another delivery charge

For a business of IKEA’s size and reputation, this is simply not good enough. Sending out incomplete orders, issuing unexplained refunds, providing misleading delivery information, and then offering solutions that either waste the customer’s time or cost them more money is unacceptable.

Not everyone lives conveniently close to an IKEA store. Driving 70 miles to fix a problem IKEA created is not a reasonable expectation in 2026. The whole process feels poorly thought through and half‑baked.
Very disappointed.

Had to fight for a refund – in-store customer services sucked!

I bought a 175cm tall glass cabinet online, and had it delivered to a local pickup point.

The last pieces to fit were the doors, so I was alarmed to find one wouldn’t close properly and the paint was chipping at the bottom.

Since “damaged” or “not working” wasn’t an option in the online returns portal, I called customer service.

They were helpful and offered to arrange a pickup but couldn’t give me a specific time.

I explained my car was too small to transport it unless I disassembled it, which they said was fine – and told me to be careful and make sure everything was there.

I took it apart and packed it up, as requested, and returned it to the store (Greenwich), but then had to argue with the man there for them to process the return.

He explained how they couldn't accept it as, "it had previously been assembled!"

He said I shouldn’t have assembled it – so I had to explain that I wouldn't have known about the problem otherwise.

Then he contrarily told me I should not have disassembled it!

When I mentioned the phone call, he retorted with, "They always tell people that!"

Then he claimed it couldn’t be resold, which I agreed with, pointing out it had arrived damaged.

I then asked for the manager, so he went off and returned a few moments later, and finally started processing the return.

He inspected the unit in the box – of course – but he didn't even want to see the problem, just to stare generally into the box.

He then tried to refund me onto a gift card.

I insisted on a refund to my original payment method – as it was a faulty item – but he implied that I could have potentially damaged it myself!

Alarmed by the accusation, I mentioned my statutory rights and threatened to initiate a chargeback.

He made some other inaudible grumbling noise, so I reminded him that the store was closing soon, and that he probably didn't want me to spend the night there!

He finally, and reluctantly, processed the refund – but the amount of stress that caused was ridiculous.

Addendum:

While I was there, I noticed a woman assembling a wardrobe in the returns department – as if another customer had the same issue and he literally made her rebuild her purchase in the store!

I’m kicking myself for ordering without reading the instructions. Absolutely terrible! World’s rudest customer service. I mean literally if you want to get swore at, call their customer service up. I was planning to do a whole bunch of furniture for my new house, but after this, absolutely NEVER coming back.

Would give zero stars if I could for my mattress warranty

I am extremely disappointed with the way my warranty claim has been handled by IKEA.

I purchased a mattress from the IKEA Cardiff store with a 10-year warranty. After just two years, the internal springs have completely failed. The mattress is no longer suitable to sleep on and causes serious discomfort. This is clearly a manufacturing defect and exactly the type of issue a long warranty should cover.

When I contacted IKEA, I was redirected to an online chat and asked to send photos. The photos clearly showed the spring failure. Instead of focusing on the actual fault, the response I received was shocking: they refused my warranty claim because of “discolouration and stains.”

This is completely unreasonable. A mattress used for two years will naturally show signs of use. That does not invalidate a structural spring failure. The defect has nothing to do with appearance, yet IKEA chose to hide behind this excuse to avoid honouring their warranty.

I even visited the IKEA Cardiff store in person, hoping for proper customer support. The staff there told me they could do nothing because an online decision had already been made. No one was willing to take ownership or actually help. I was told I could make a complaint that might take months for a reply.

To make matters worse, when a manager looked at the photos, they questioned why the warranty was refused — but still did nothing to correct it. They simply said they would not override a colleague’s decision. This is not customer service. This is poor management and a complete lack of responsibility.

A company the size of IKEA should be ashamed of this level of service. A 10-year warranty clearly means nothing to them when it comes time to honour it.

I have never felt so dismissed and disrespected as a customer. This has been an exhausting and frustrating experience from start to finish.

I strongly advise others to think twice before buying a mattress from IKEA. When something goes wrong, you will be left on your own.
