I am extremely disappointed with my recent online purchase from Ippodo Tea.
I received matcha with only 70 days remaining before the best-by date. For a product like matcha — where freshness directly affects flavor, aroma, and overall quality — this is unacceptable, especially considering the premium price charged.
When I contacted customer service, I was told that their policy guarantees a minimum of 60 days remaining and that they do not accept returns. For a product positioned and priced as high-end, this policy is frankly surprising and out of touch with customer expectations.
Even more disappointing, after I responded to their explanation and expressed my concerns, I never received any further reply. The lack of follow-up shows a clear disregard for customer satisfaction.
Given the price point and the reputation of the brand, I expected significantly better quality control and customer service. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I do not feel the product justifies its cost, and I will reconsider purchasing from them again.
