Since the refurb the gym layout and equipment is much better. Laura and her staff are friendly, accommodating and are present. The monthly cost and location of the gym is spot on for me from a work and home perspective.
The classes are plentiful and spread evenly throughout the week with a varied combination of cardio, strength and balance.
I tend to go in the afternoon as much as possible as it’s much more chilled and you can get on most of the equipment.
The only downfall for me unfortunately is the gym at peak tine (anytime from 4-7). It is just chaos, especially upstairs as it’s packed with mainly students who sadly use the gym as a youth hostel and social place of gathering spending most of the time messing about in groups. Heavy weights are left on the equipment which you then have to start pulling off before you can use it, or left all over the gym floor which I find very disrespectful.
I believe the gym is going to be opening 24/7 so let’s hope this elevates some of the madness?

The gym is superb and spotless. But as a new user I had to work hard to get shown the equipment. As a novice it's very daunting so think they could bear that in mind. The staff were lovely though.

Good equipment and space.

For me, there's no better venue around. The choice and amount of equipmrnt is vast, not least the sled track. Ideal for Hyrox. (I don't think there's another gym locally capable to this extent). The gym is ideal for a muscle workout, for a CV session, and there's plenty of great classes like yoga, HIIT, pilates. A huge spin class room with multiple classes each day, The sauna is a bit of a sanctuary for me.

The gym is smart and has just had a refurb.

The showers aren't quite "Hilton Presidential Suite" but they are okay. And I'm a bit fussy.

The manager, Laura, is very chirpy and gobby. She is very helpful, but I might just fancy her a bit.

A big thank you to Laura and her dedicated team of staff who make this gym an absolute pleasure to train in. Yeah sometimes issues pop up but those issues are dealt with swiftly. Charlotte also is very thorough with her daily checks which sometimes means issues are dealt with before anyone notices. I’ve trained here for on & off for 7 years……says it all really!!

Laura goes around terminating peoples contracts, if she don’t like the way you walk or the way you look it’s a good bye! She needs the sack, she will be the downfall of jd gyms, no wonder she got thrown out dw fitness in Oldham she was never liked there either, won’t be joining until she’s gone

I really like jd gym Rochdale as its quiet and not intimidating as I have a brain injury so its great as it's relaxed however I need to find a replacement personal trainer as Connor left so I need a pt that understands vestibular migraines so I need a plan to do things safely

The refurb looks great and well thought out but unfortunately a lot members and especially the newer, younger members are quite disrespectful, they leave the weights on the machines, sit for ages on their phones when people are clearly waiting. There is always a lack of staff on the floor - not their fault as I know you employ the bare minimum. They should tackle this and some just walk past, I don’t blame them as some members can be intimidating and don’t listen to staff anyway - I see it happen all the time. The toilets are better than they were - cleanliness wise. You need to micromanage that gym floor - upstairs as well not just float round now and again or else you may as well flush your refurb money away because those machines will be broken within 6 months if not. Members have told higher management before and it falls on deaf ears tbh. Such as shame as there still are quite a lot of us who are respectful in the place. Rochdale has a bad reputation because of these points I’ve made and if members aren’t honest then nothing will be done about it.

Loads of space and loads of equipment for your work out, the mat area though is always dirty. They even have a lady’s gym that is great. The changing rooms are not great. Even though they have so much space there is only 1 private changing room, the space in the showers/toilets stinks (like they haven’t been clean). Also I haven’t seen any antibacterial sprays and blue rolls so you can wipe down the equipment you are using.

Came back to the gym after 8 months trying a new one. Really surprised, new machines and better layout, impressive

the staff are very friendly and always give a smile, the gym itself is clean and dosnt smell like other previous gyms ive been. The community are friendly and willing to help you if ur in need of help. 10/10 would recommend

Josh is a joke, he shouldn’t be opening the gym as he can’t make it on time. 3 times it’s happened in less than a week, couldn’t get there for 10am let alone 6am. If I was a new January gym starter and my first experience was a late opening you wouldn’t see me again. His attitude is shocking, when he finally arrived slamming around like a small child no apology of accountability just a remark of ‘I’m not arsed’. Well the paying customers that are waiting are arsed. However I will say the gym and the rest of the staff are brilliant.

As a senior citizen I was a bit wary of joining a gym, no problem, staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helped me find what I was able to do without hurting myself.

I always prefer jd gym because of a lot of reasons. First reason is privacy, second reasons peace full environment.third reasons, is all machines are new and in a good condition. Outstanding customers service. All staff are very coprative. Neat and clean gym

It was my first time trying out jd gym and I was really looking forward to it , but when I got there , I was really annoyed with how the place was run , there was no pts about and all of the weights where left out , the machines where rubbish’s and the locker room was a state , I would wish to get my money back as I’ve payed £10 for the first month and have to pay £22.95 for the second , i most definitely will not be coming back !

Great gym with good and plentiful equipment. Nice and friendly staff.
The changing rooms leave a lot to be desired. The standard of hygiene is no where near what’s required - quite often stinking they need more cleanliness.
