Purchase and Return Process can be Difficult and Expensive

Dress sizes are somewhat misleading. They run very small compared to traditional sizing. If you usually wear a 0, you may wear a 4 or 6 with LBT and the dress may only fit in your largest area.

It’s impossible to get someone on the phone for urgent requests. Email support is fairly quick but is frustrating in a crunch when you need clear and concise communication.

I had to go through the return process which meant paying for shipping (and the return) twice. I completed my return next day first thing in the morning. However, if you need the dress urgently, don’t rely on express shipping. I paid extra, but it doesn’t make a difference when LBT waits days to send the dress out. UPS goes off their time and does not consider the business holding the item for extra time. Just order early and use regular shipping. I’d recommend using a company with more budget friendly shipping and a full return/refund policy all together.

You can get a nice dress(the quality on mine was ok, but a lot of the sparkly sequin started falling off) but these are not cheap dresses, the shipping is not covered, and you will only be allowed a store credit for returns within 14 days of receipt.

Update: Unfortunately after receiving the sizing recommendation from customer service, and exchanging the first ill fitting dress with a different dress, the new dress is too big. This dress would have been better in a smaller size, which is the size I went with in the first dress. Sizing is very inconsistent. I believed a lot of money would be wasted sending returns back and forth.

DO NOT order a gown from ladyblacktie. The dresses are mis sized and the return policy is misleading. You cannot return for your money back - only for store credit. If you pick the perfect dress then you are in luck - but the customer service is non existent - you cannot ever speak to a representative or get in contact with a manager. Prom Girl and Meshki and of course Nordstrom and Macys provide the customer service we want and need.

These are terrible business people…

These are terrible business people lacking in courtesy and basic customer service. Does not work with this kind of product. Do not waste your money on their low quality junk becuase you can't get it back. And they don't support their products. The women working just give you a blank stare.

Rude employees and terrible fitting room line management

Lots of dresses and we did purchase one. However- the staff was rude and unprofessional. Very inefficient and vague dressing room system. We went into the portion of the shop that has the dressing rooms. We waited and then overheard another customer saying that you had to “check in” to wait for a fitting room. We did not see any signs telling us to do that, but found where we were supposed to do that. There was only a small sign at that desk stating to check in for a fitting room. We then waited 20 minutes for our name to be called, which consisted of the young girl at the desk simply saying your name at a regular speaking volume. The area is quite large so we were under the assumption that there was some sort of overhead speaker or saying the name loudly like they would do at a fast food restaurant or somewhere where they are calling out your order. Unless you were standing right next to her, you do not realize your name is even being called. Meanwhile, people are disregarding the system and just walking into the first available fitting room. There was no staff directing people or monitoring how the system is supposed to work. At one point there were three open fitting rooms, and no names were being called. As we were still waiting, I went up to the same girl and asked how many people were in front of us, telling her that there were three open fitting rooms. She looked up and said “yeah” and looked back down and didn’t call a name for about five additional minutes. She clearly was not happy with me asking how many people were waiting and letting her know that there were available rooms that they were not notifying anyone of. I know I simply could’ve walked into one of the fitting rooms, but those of us who were actually following the rules and waiting our turn did not want to be in the same category as those that were just cutting people off who would actually waited their turn.
The simple solution would be to have one of the employees in the area where the dressing rooms are, notifying the line of people where the next available empty room was. It happens every day in stores all across the country. Why they can’t figure that system out at Lady Black Tie is beyond me.

We have very large directional signs towards our fitting rooms, and a giant desk with a check in for customers the moment you walk in that area. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I paid for 3-Day Air shipping, but UPS rescheduled my delivery for after that timeframe. When I reached out to Lady Black Tie, I received a generic response from an unnamed support person stating that shipping fees are non-refundable and to “contact UPS.”

I explained that under normal circumstances, I’d understand — but I paid for a service I did not receive. They completely ignored my follow-up message.

Thankfully, UPS ended up coming through for me, but I will never order from Lady Black Tie again. So many other retailers carry the same dresses, and customer service matters. Don’t risk dealing with a company that refuses to stand behind their service or even respond properly to customers.

Stores like this are exactly why shopping experiences aren’t what they used to be. If this is how they run their business, they won’t last long — and honestly, they shouldn’t.

We see your order was delivered within the 3 day select timeframe UPS provides. Midway though the shipment they sent an alert suggesting it 'might' be delayed and ended up being on time. While a package is mid-transit, UPS is able to provide the most up-to-date information about your package, we see the same information the customer sees while it's in their possession. In the event they do delay delivery, but in this case was a false alarm, we always make it right for the customer. We are again sorry you have been dissatisfied with your experience and hope you love your dress!

Terrible return policy. If you buy in the store. No returns!

I bought a dress for a garden wedding. When i asked the girl at the desk about the return policy she said in 14 days. That day I asked my friend if she knew what colorthe brides maids were wearing, she made a call and turns out it was the same color as the dress i just bought. I sent the dress back because of there limited hour and before the 14 days. I emailed to make sure they received it within the time limit they did. The woman said just because you changed your mind you cannot get a refund. I DID NOT CHANGE MY MIND! Why would I wear the same color as the bridesmaid dresses! Would you?? I highly doubt it, and this is the worse policy I have ever heard of for an America company. They should not be in buisness and should learn how to teach there staff about these unheard store policys ripping off the public like that, thats disgusting! What a waste of money, the the woman proceeded to say, you have two weeks to pick it up or we will give it to charity. I could not believe it! I would not recommend buying anything from there store, they will rip you off. I am now stuck with a 100 less in my pocket.

To clarify, all items purchased at our brick & mortar store, in person at the register is such: All Sales Are Final. This is clearly and conspicuously displayed at the checkout counter, as we follow all Massachusetts return policy regulations. This is a very common policy for all formalwear brick & mortars in the business of selling specialty clothing items intended for one time wear. In our retail store, you have the opportunity to try before you buy, which is why it is different from our online store policy, which is store credit only returns. This difference is also highlighted on the return policy page on our website.

Extremely deceptive store

Extremely deceptive store, low quality dresses that don´t match the photos. The dresses are badly sewn, they are completely unapologetic and have terrible customer service. They made me believe I would get a refund, made me pay $100USD and then said that they would only give me store credit.

This store is an absolute ripoff

This store is an absolute ripoff. DON'T FALL FOR THEIR SCAM!!! They only offer store credit and I've tried to purchase THREE dresses, then they come back and say they're all out of stock. Even with my horrible experience they still refuse to give a refund back to my original payment method.

I am very upset about your return…

I am very upset about your return policy. I purchased an item in good faith, also purchased the package protection. It doesn't fit, the material is very cheap looking. I want to return it for a full refund.
I would rather give this item to Goodwill or another charity than get store credit. In 2025 this is not how we do things in the USA.

Disappointed in purchase

I purchased my daughter’s prom dress from here but when the dress arrived it didn’t fit. Of course they have a store credit policy only so I’m just out of $200. Please be careful and read the fine print had I know I would’ve never ever bought a dress from this place.

Your return did not get back to us yet at the time you wrote this review. It took 4 business days since you shipped it to us to reach us. Your return credit was processed the same day it was delivered! We are very fast & process return credits within 1-2 business day of the day it reaches us.

We are quite easy to get a hold of by email; however we did not receive any emails from you at all, we would have loved to check your return tracking number and could have provided you with the update.

We came. We saw. We purchased!

We were greeted by a knowledgeable staff. They explained the procedure of picking 4 dresses and going directly to the fitting room. It was so easy. There were two of us shopping together and as we finished with a dress we hung it outside the room and got new ones. The process was so easy. We each got ourselves the perfect prom dress. I could not have been happier. My suggestion to anyone thinking about shopping at this amazing store: Go early! You will want to try on so many dresses to get just the perfect dress. I am 6 ft tall and I found a dress long enough. My friend is much shorter but needs a dress with a fuller bust, she found the perfect dress. It really was a great experience! Thank you Lady Black Tie.
