Absolutely no customer service

Absolutely no customer service. Moved in 6 months ago. The lead flashing on the dormer window has a gap which means that every time it's even slightly windy the draught gets in behind the tiles and rattles them loudly so it's impossible to sleep. I have sent countless emails and phone calls to try and get it sorted but never get a reply, just told it will be sorted and someone will get back to me, which they never do. L&H find it acceptable that even though I am paying rent on a 3 bed house, one of the bedrooms cannot be used to sleep in for approx a third of the time so we end up having to sleep on the sofa. The developer never answers my calls either. They initially sent contractors out but they said there was no problem despite me sending audio files of the noise. The gutter contractors said the tiles were loose but the roofers apparently wont come back saying its not their problem. L&G need to sort this out. I've had enough of sleeping on the sofa so am seeking legal advice.Its not acceptable that 6 months after moving into a property one of the bedrooms is unusable for sleeping in. I asked if they weren't going to fix the problem, I could get a local roofer to replace the flashing or fix it down but was told I couldnt do that. So what am I supposed to do?

Finchwood park a mess

Finchwood park a mess, dug up roads and pavements not finished, always have drainage and sewage lorries around unblocking drains and also currently have a burst drain leaking a lot of water which has been left for 2 days, dead trees and turf and weeds everywhere especially round the flats. We pay maintenance every month to up keep the grounds all I’ve seen is the lawn cut but no weeding or watering of the plants have been done and looks a mess. Started phase 2 haven’t even finished phase 1. Roads still need to be finished and street lights installed so some areas at night are pitch black. They make the front of the site all nice where the office is making sure the grass and plants are watered and looking perfect for people viewing properties but for the residents it’s a mess. Also the smell of weed every night when your sitting in your garden on a nice evening isn’t ideal and nothing is done about it. Lots of people buying and using drugs round here. Please look around before you buy and it would be nice to see some improvement of the site as people pay a lot for these homes.

Having lived in rented property for the…

Having lived in rented property for the past 18 years I was very excited about the prospect of owning my own home, but also apprehensive about this major decision. Having lived in other peoples properties for so long I decided on a new build and discovered the L&G development just 15 minutes away. The ladies on the site were very informative, helpful and honest. At no time did I feel under any pressure. A big attraction was that everything I needed was included and of a very high standard. Having decided on the property I wanted, the big question was could I be patient until it is going to be ready. The answer is of course YES.

Bad Customer Service/After Care

Been waiting for soft close hinges since February 2022 as it’s annoying the doors slamming when kids in bed waking them. After 4 months they sent one part but not the other part even though an after care person seen the issue. Constantly being ignored, promises of part coming and all the time the 12 month warrant will expire! Pleasant staff to talk to but when it comes to action nothing happens! If I could give a minus star I would. Customer service is zero and even reporting issues via the portal the jobs just sit there and you have to chase the works. Garfield DW Homes Wigston Meadows

About the best sales office I've ever seen for a builder. Full of technology to demonstrate the layout of the new estate. Loved the design of the homes. Now going through the buying process. Hopefully will be as smooth as it can be.

Brilliant team at Finchwood Park

Everyone I have spoken to or physically met on site has been more than accommodating, so professional, friendly and knowledgable. We have repeatedly asked for viewings or had questions; they are always really honest, tactful, quick to respond and always exceptionally attentive.

Really thankful to the Finchwood Park sales team for everything! Off to view the house again this afternoon!

We were taken with the quality of the homes and the all inclusive specification. The site at Shrivenham has a nice open feel to it. We are only at reservation stage but have been impressed with the sales team at Shrivenham who have been very helpful and a pleaseure to deal with.

great sales experience

Our experience with Legal and General Homes so far has been great. We have talked to Tony at Cross Trees Development in Shrivenham and Lily and Jane at Nobel Park in Didcot. They were all extremely competent and kind, they took their time to explain everything about the house, the development, future plans and how they work. It has been really nice to feel welcomed and listened to. We found many other developers to be very rushed and not caring about our needs. The quality of the houses seems higher than the average new builds and they have some very interesting designs. The homes are more spacious than other we have seen and they seem like genuine good people. We are in the process of reserving a house and hopefully everything will go smoothly. The premises are there!

Excellent service at Noble Park.

We visited Noble Park, Didcot to view a Drayton show house. We were greeted by Lily Simpson Sales Consultant. We were welcomed on arrival and made to feel special , she was fully aware of what we were looking for. The walk around and communications were very clear and she listened carefully and her approach was a breath of fresh air. The best customer service I have ever received, needless to say we are very interested in purchasing in the future. Well done Lily.

Not as expected

As stated in other reviews, very poor once L&G have the money tied up.

Living on a developing site has expected downsides but when a phase it supposedly completed, you shouldn't have to live with the daily downsides.

Pathways blocked off with raised iron works or incompleted. Swamp areas filled with litter, not dealt with. Areas that are unsafe for the many young children living on the development.

Ends up being a sickener, driving past a perfectly maintained showhome/office on the way to your neglected development on a daily basis.

Finchwood Park

Terrible to put it simply. It's been a very tiring experience explaining multiple issues, they come out and see the issue....then it never gets dealt with. Someone new comes out to see it again (while you the homeowner has to take time off work etc), then you get promises it will get dealt with. We have a swamp garden a simple french drain would fix. (they have been out 6 times now to "take notes"). It's a complete waste of time. The only positive is at least the toilets flush properly.

The worst experience ever

The worst experience ever, legal and general have no regard for their customer once they have your money, have been living through awful conditions for getting on for nearly 2 years and still all they worry about is the sales area and the rest of us have to live in a tip, now they are launching phase 2 when phase 1 is not finished

Disappointing

I cannot fault L&G Finchwood Park pre-completion, the sales team were excellent throughout and I’m even confident our chain wouldn’t have completed without their careful management.

Unfortunately after completion, it rapidly went down hill.. L&G sell themselves as being different from the other house builders, higher quality finish, everything included etc but it’s simply not true. The QC of our house was really poor, so many snags and 16 months later we’re still trying to get them resolved (our patio wobbles and moves despite being ‘fixed’ twice). It’s hardly suprising things aren’t resolved though as we’ve had 4 different site managers since we completed. One of our most concerning issues was our ceiling extractor fans in all bathrooms hadn’t been ducted to the outside leaving hot/wet air being blown directly into our insulation. The house sign off for building control listed excellent extraction rates that simply could never have been achieved due to the lack of ducting so we can draw 1 of 2 conclusions, that someone fabricated the results for building control or removed all the ductwork after sign off, I’ll let you decide which is most likely..

On top of issues with our house, the estate is a mess.. unfinished roads and pavements, rubbish and dog poo everywhere, dying turf and trees. They have clearly made several mistakes/forgotten things and had to dig up half the estate to rectify so the result is just a mess.

I entitled this review disappointing because we really thought L&G were different and paid a premium because of that but they just aren't. I’d recommend anyone considering buying in phase 2, walks round phase 1 to see all this for yourself. Then save yourself £100k and buy next door in Crest Nicholson, at least you’ll get what you expect there.

Finchwood Park

As others have said our experience at Finchwood Park started so well and then went downhill. The site is a mess, we still have snags unresolved after 18 months and there is a complete lack of quality control and customer service. It is really disappointing as they promise so much and then fail to deliver. Anyone buying I would suggest walks around Phase 1 and speaks to the residents.
