Disgusting. Never in my life have I been spoken to in such a manner as I was when I called LexLaw a moment ago. So much so that I came onto Trustpilot to check whether I had lost my marbles and imagined the whole thing. Unfortunately not. I can completely second all of the reviews on here. I called to see if my 'case' was even a case whether there was even any point in pursuing it or just giving in to HMRC demands. The person 'on reception' was so rude - interrupted me almost immediately to ram costs down my neck and was borderline abusive when I asked if they offered 5-minutes with someone to even see if it was something. Horrible ordeal - don't waste your time with a connection let alone instruct them.

Over £50,000 spent — deeply disappointing service

My experience with LEXLAW was extremely disappointing and, in my opinion, highly unprofessional.

The firm initially offered what was presented as a heavily discounted case-assessment meeting attended by a barrister, paralegal , solicitor and senior advocate. However, rather than receiving constructive and respectful advice, we found the meeting confrontational and intimidating. We were told that our case had little merit—or that it would cost an enormous amount for the firm to take it on.

The dynamic felt like a rehearsed “good cop, bad cop” approach. In particular, the senior advocate’s manner came across as rude, dismissive and unnecessarily aggressive, including raising his voice. Whatever the legal assessment, clients paying for professional advice should be treated with courtesy and respect.

Despite these serious reservations, we instructed the firm because we were able to meet its substantial fees. As the case progressed, however, we became increasingly concerned about the quality and strategic value of the advice we were receiving. In our view, we had developed a clearer and more effective strategy ourselves than the one being recommended by the firm.

Once we lost confidence in their approach, we terminated their instructions. By that stage, we had spent more than £50,000.

My overall impression was of an expensive service that significantly underdelivered, with poor client care and very little of the professional “bedside manner” one should reasonably expect from senior legal practitioners. I wish I had read the negative reviews before engaging them.

Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend this firm.

I have emailed and explained my situation, simply asking whether they believed my case could be helped or not. Unfortunately, I never received a clear indication either way. Instead, all the communication seemed focused on payment and signing their engagement agreement.

In my experience, most firms can at least provide a brief initial view on whether a matter is worth pursuing before asking for such substantial fees. I was quoted £1,750 + VAT just to have someone assess whether they could assist, which I found excessive.

I appreciate that legal advice is not free, but I was looking for some indication of the prospects of success before committing to significant costs. Given the reviews and my experience so far, I decided not to proceed. God knows how much more I could have ended up paying on top of dealing with the actual case itself.

I called for assistance and advice after charging me £2100,, they just reiterated what was on the documents that I sent them no advise on how to defend the case and then said they would charge £8,000 to do some work on the case. Complete scam

They are a complete scam. Simple.

Absolute farce start to finish. How the SRA have not intervened I do not know. Shambolic, abusive, extortionate, made a major error in the litigation and fabricated a reason to exit. Charlatans. Litigating against their professional negligence now and the SRA investigating

Hired these guys for a case. Nothing happened, extremely overpriced with no outcome, there was always three to four people on a call that felt unnecessary. One of the senior partners actually called our attacker while on a video call to us. Overall, very unprofessional and I’d suggest strongly to avoid them. Waste of money and time, don’t be impressed by the BBC logos...

Extremely unprofessional, we dealt with horrible people who just wanted to get your money and did not help. They are not equip to do anything and they shout when you ask a simple question- they’re money hungry!!!!!

Rang the company this morning and what a dreadful experience with the man who answered! Rude, patronising and full of himself. Talked over me, shouted and didn't listen properly, then blamed me when he'd misunderstood. He then wanted to book me in for a call and when I mentioned I was going on holiday and so would be away until a certain date he scoffed and said he'd no interest at all in my holidays, zero, and that this was a professional law firm of barristers and solicitors that I was calling! I said it was merely to find a time to call - I mentioned absolutely nothing else about my trip! This individual needs some serious training and attitude readjustment! He then put me through to the paralegals - who didn't answer and no voicemail.
At that point I decided this was some sort of bucket shop and hung up. An hour later a paralegal rang me, unsure where he got my number?
In the meantime I contacted a great firm of proper professionals, where I was immediately put through to a solicitor who can see I've got a straightforward case with no dispute, simply need my money returned. He's looking into it initially for free and gave several much cheaper options than Lexlaw!
Wished I'd read these reviews about Lexlaw before, as unfortunately this unprofessional attitude seems to be the norm.

I paid £1800 for advice. I was told I have no case. I was shouted at. They addressed NONE of the points. I then took advice from a barrister and had a professional barrister opinion, which stated the case has merit. is has now proceeded to letter of claim.

Very rude Scotsman (I just say this so Lex Law knows who I'm speaking about) on reception when I called for the first time. Doesn't listen or give you even a few seconds to let you get a word in edgeways to explain why you're calling in. As a previous user here said, patronising too. What an awful front of house person, you are putting off prospective clients.

The paralegal is more focus on that all documents to be save in single Pdf file, if you don't know you can use Adobe free of charge if not lexlaw charge you £200. Hence all they do was to hand it over your document and book appointment, not even let the solicitor know your email letter. Thereafter, they offering £1,500 + Vat initial consultation using video conference hence technically you can only hear them. Also you have to sign. During the conference, the solicitor, barrister and assistant (logging the notes) present the meeting. Surprisingly the solicitor manner of conversation was shocking you have been interrogating of why you think of having a claim or a case rather than telling you how they can help you winning the case or recover your losses since you already sent the documents. It felt like your already being judged that's was your fault and you have to argue to be heard. While for the barrister well spoken however not a specialist as the conversation was very basic advice. Therefore, I strongly suggest to stay away and not even try to contact Lexlaw in relation to banking disputes.

Julian is letting down the company
Julian - very rude and unprofessional and highly patronising.Made it difficult to want to proceed as a client. Based on first impressions, wouldn’t recommend.
