I recently worked on a Liftmaster gate operator with multiple issues
I recently worked on a Liftmaster LA400 gate operator. Turned out there were several problems preventing the gate from working reliably. At each step I called Liftmaster tech support and I couldn't be happier with their service. Each technician provided excellent information in a friendly, patient, and professional manner. Again, I could not have asked for better service.

Liftmaster product versus garage door installation service
Our experience after having a new Liftmaster garage door opener installed is the purpose for this report. It is appropriate to emphasize our respect for the superior quality of their opener. However, we also suggest that they can benefit by implementing greater accountability for the technicians that they rely on for installation of their system. Upon contacting Liftmaster regarding the fact that our control was no longer functioning for operating the opening and closing of the garage door we were informed that a a technician would need to evaluate our need and provide an estimate of the fee for getting us operational again. When the initial technicians visited they indicated that our previous Liftmaster system was old and needed replaced, sidestepping our request for an estimate of the overall cost. Out of fairness our previous system was 17 years old, but we were told that they could replace the old system if we wanted them to perform the service and identify what was needed. Though we felt disregarded with our estimate request, we felt that we really had no other choice but to have them proceed since we knew we were going to be faced with replacing an aging system. As their work progressed they kept adding costs for pieces of the infrastructure that were also needed. The technicians’ communication was mostly one-way with little apparent regard for customer comments and questions. In the end they installed a mostly functional new system, but when required to make a second visit to our residence because of a malfunctioning control device they were able to make our wall unit and mobile devices work and departed. When we contacted a local Liftmaster service provider we were informed that the two sidebars and related fixtures also needed to be replaced. That technician spent a long time completing this portion of project and, again, it is mostly functional. Though the technician informed us that we had not been given the correct mobile control device. When I provided two new devices he took them and programmed one to open and the other one to close and went on his way. We should add that during his visit we requested that he not block our neighbor’s garage door with his truck, but he ignored our request for the remainder of his visit. Finally, we are left with a garage door opener that is noisier than our previous one and the door no longer closes flush with the garage floor by about an inch. We were prepared for the Liftmaster replacement to be expensive, but we didn’t expect less than quality service. The initial technicians were associated with Madano Garage Door and Repair, and the second local technician was associated with Garage Door Repair.

We were referred by Liftmaster to Dan with Garage Door Service, located here in Sacramento. He was able to resolve the unsatisfactory installation that was performed by the two previous vendors. The gap between the bottom of the garage door and the cement floor was corrected by new sensors and tightening down bolts that were left unsecured when the previous system’s side bars were replaced. And the noise associated with opening and closing the door is considerably less than before Dan’s quality assistance.
Poor product quality and limited warranty
Had an LA412 2-arm driveway gate model installed 3 yrs ago at a vacation home for $1500. After about 1000 cycles during that time, one arm went defective and I was quoted $1200 to replace! I escalated my concern to a tech support supervisor but she refused to offer any compensation for the defect. Liftmaster claims my incident was an outlier (1 to 2%-er scenario) but if this were true, they would make it right. Clearly, the quality of their products has significantly declined, though their prices have not! Will never buy a Liftmaster product again. Not recommended!
7 year old residential opener
7 year old residential opener. The module that controls the door travel went bad. I didn’t know what was wrong. Called and they called me back in 5 minutes. Worked through the problem in 10 minutes. They sent me free of charge a new module. I installed it and works like a charm. They stand behind their product. Couldn’t be happier.
I have 3 doors open by themselves
I have 3 doors, 7 years old, I've replace all three wall switches and wiring on all 3. Now less than a year of replacing the last one the same problem again. The door just randomly opens by itself. It's a 2nd home so neighbors call me when they see my door up and nobody home. I'm told to reprogram it...again and if it still persist, replace the switches and wiring .... AGAIN. If reprogramming again for the untold time doesn't cure it...I'm pull them all out and going with another brand of lift. This is ridiculous.
Our bad experience began a year ago…
Our bad experience began a year ago when we changed our garage door operator. The first day after installation the operator will not open the door. We contacted the technician and he came to our house after hours he could not find anything wrong with the unit. As a result, we had to get used to the fact that our door will open sometimes literally almost hitting the door, which is very annoying. The second problem is that it will not read the vehicles parked and the sensor will go green even when the vehicle was not quite all the way inside and as a result, my husband's car had 3 scratches on the bumper. The last problem happened last week when two days the door decided to go up and down on its own in one minute intervals for about 30 minutes nonstop. It caused me not to leave the house one day because i was putting things in my cars trunk and the door just came down and scratched my car, which really got me so mad and it ended up having to unistall it and get a different brand. The new one is working perfectly so far, without any of the issues previosuly experienced. Also, the technician had to come to our house multiple times and he contacted Lift master, he was told to replace the unit, which he did with the exact same one and still the same conditions happened. The unit got replaced 1 week after the first installation and after that we had to endure a year of very poor garage opener reception, vehicle repairs, frustration, etc.

Garage door opener with smart capabilities simply cannot connect...
My garage opener was physically installed and was otherwise working as it is supposed to. Then came the easy and quick part whereby on would expect to find no quirks or difficulties whatsoever with today's state of technology.
Turned out that the easy part did drag on and after several attempts the opener simply failed to connect to my wlan. I work with system, network and software; and among other things I am certified network system engineer, so I guess I have at least the basic and obvious possible quandaries covered.
Due to the difficulties in connecting the opener to my wifi network, I had no choice but to contact chamberlain support. Provided them the myQ number, and explained the situation: basically, during the initial setup process the opener connects to my smartphone ok via a direct wifi connection to the smartphone, then I provide the wifi password of my wlan through the app on the phone and after about 5 or 10 minutes it show on the screen that it cannot connect. Tried several times to no avail (same outcome).
After a length exchange the chamberlain agent, the agent indicated that the opener would not connect to my opener simply because my wlan use a proper and safe password (password constituted of letter and symbols), and then requested that I should change the password/passphrase of my entire wlan because of their faulty device's firmware. Seriously?! This is the most absurd request from any support I have ever heard.
I really need a solution for this problem, because it took lots of time and resources to install this garage door opener.
Note: Liftmaster is a Chamberlain brand. They are the same company.
LiftMaster gate openers
Just installed LiftMaster 24V in ground gate openers.
