This review is exclusive for the customer service I received from LILA. I ordered a composter at the end of 2025, but unfortunately, it arrived damaged. I must stress - I live in a very remote village in north Vancouver Island; it's not unusual for packages to arrive with some kind of damage. It was packaged extremely well. The company was exceptional as far as assisting with return. The customer service and communication was excellent. I was very impressed with this company and wish them great success.

Lila is an amazing and, in my case, a required piece of equipment for my kitchen. As a family of four, with a very busy kitchen where we cook most of our meals, I cannot be happier to have Lila sitting in a corner to turn our food waste into usable compost that I am looking forward to using in the months ahead. Knowing what went into Lila to produce the compost, I am very confident of the quality of the compost coming out of it. I've had Lila for 3 months now; it works perfectly and quietly in my kitchen, with very minimal smell at times that doesn't linger. Lastly, Lila has made our home's food waste go almost fully circular. We barely throw anything into the green bin these days. I wholeheartedly recommend Lila to anyone and all, especially those with gardens, as well as anyone who wants to help our environment by turning a part of their waste into useful compost that can be used, given away, or even sold potentially.

The LILA Pro Composter has honestly been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my home. This machine is a true composter — not just a food dehydrator like some other brands that claim to be composters. You can see and feel the difference in the final product. It actually breaks food down properly and creates usable compost, not just dried scraps.

It’s easy to use, surprisingly quiet, and doesn’t leave odors lingering in the kitchen. I love knowing I’m reducing waste in a meaningful way while creating something beneficial for my garden. The build quality feels solid and well-designed, and it runs consistently without issues.

If you’re on the fence, this is absolutely worth it. I’ve tried other options before, and nothing compares. Highly recommend!

We are really enjoying our Lala compost. We had missed using a composter as we have a raccoon problem. We keep it in the garage and it’s quite handy. Love the gorgeous compost it generates for the garden.

From when we first purchased our Lila almost 3 years ago the team has been amazing. When they delivered Lila almost 8 weeks ago they were very thorough in going through everything we needed ti know and answered all our questions.

We have been very pleased to see how much our green bins waste has been reduced. We do a lot of meal prepping on the weekend and have filled one of the chambers up with waste in a day and pleasantly surprised when we looked into Lila later that evening that some of the food has already been processed.

We have a garden in the back and have put some of the fertilizer down on some plants. It’s going to be great to see how the plants compare to each other as we have put the fertilizer in some plants and not others.

It really feels great to know that we are helping the planet, reducing waste and helping improve our garden. The team has also been amazing at answering our questions and very open to suggestions on how it can be improved and enhanced.

We have introduced Lila to our family at family gatherings and our nephews are especially intrigued as to how it works. We definitely recommend Lila to our family and friends and are very excited to be part of the Lila family and founding members.

We’ve been waiting two years to receive our composter, and I can honestly say—it was worth the wait. It’s such a relief not to have a compost bucket under the sink anymore, especially with the heat we’ve been experiencing. That setup was always a challenge for me because of the smell and the mess, especially with family members who weren’t exactly careful when adding in the food scraps.

I absolutely love this unit—particularly the two-bucket capacity and the ability to turn food into dirt in just seven days. I’m also genuinely impressed by the technology behind it.

Initially, we did notice a subtle but unpleasant odor. When we contacted the company, they responded quickly and explained it was likely due to the compost being too dry. After adding more water throughout the week, the smell issue was resolved. We also ran into a small issue with the locking mechanism, but again, the company addressed it promptly and efficiently.

It’s a large unit, so you’ll need to find a good spot for it in your home—but once you do, you won’t be disappointed. It’s an excellent addition to any household looking to reduce waste and make use of their food scraps efficiently.

As of the writing of this review, I've had the Lila composter for just over 6 weeks. I have never owned a composter of this type before. I've had a digester and a compost bin I kept in the corner of my backyard. So this version of a composter is new to me. Over all, I am pleased with the results of the composter, it appears to be doing the job. When the Lila people came to visit me a couple weeks ago, I put my very first batch of compost in the garden. The compost was a little dry and it didn't have a bad odor to it. The compost wasn't as dark as the starter compost given to me initially from Lila, but it looked good and the Lila folks seemed to be pleased with the results.
So, what problems have I experienced, if any? To start, when you face the machine, there is a small hopper at the front, when you open the lid to the hopper you will notice blades like you see in a blender, only the the blades in the composter are slightly bigger in size. My initial thoughts were, I was to place all my compost in the hopper, after closing the lid, the compost would be chopped up and pushed down the opening at the bottom of the hopper. So my very first load of food stuffs to compost was placed in the front hopper, the food stuffs consisted of various vegetables and banana peels. When I closed the lid the, the blades cycled up and ran for about 2 seconds. When I checked the hopper where I dumped the food stuff, I could see nothing happened, other than the blades had moved a bit. I contacted Lila, was some discussion I was told that the hopper was not meant for the soft food items, like banana peels, the soft item should be dumped in the back of the machine, accessible under a different lid. The problem I experienced was due to the banana jamming the blades, so nothing was getting cut up. When I cleared the food stuff and blades cycled for about 10 seconds or so, like it supposed to. I have since tried putting small chunks of watermelon in the hopper and they get chopped up. I found putting too many chunks in the hopper caused a jam like I described above. The hopper up front is for harder items like small bones etc.
In another case, my wife had made a salad and there were vegetables that have a high water content in them, eg: celery. I dumped those vegetables in the back of the composter, the next day, I found a puddle of water under the composter. The problem was due to all the high water content vegetables, I confirmed this in a discussion with Lila. If keeping this unit in your kitchen, could be a problem. I had put my unit in the garage, as there was a bit of a smell coming from the compost.
As mentioned earlier, the compost in my machine is a bit on the dry side and I was advised to add water to the compost. If the compost gets too dry, I guess there is a sensor of some sort to detect this, and a blue light flashes on the power switch at the front of the machine. I added water to the compost in my machine, close the lid and seems to clear the flashing blue light, but at some point the blue light comes back on again. (when exactly, I'm not sure, as I don't stand around waiting for the blue light to come on) In reporting the problem to Lila, I was told the system needs a software update so ignore the blue light for now. In that same discussion, I was given instructions to do an "over the air" (OTA) update. I tried several times to do the OTA and have not been successful. When Lila was here I did mention the problem trying to do the update, they also tried to do the update and the update process failed for them as well. As of the writing of this review, this issue has not been resolved.
As I stated at the beginning of this review, over all I am pleased with the composter, I think the problems(?) I experienced so far are "growing" pains. I guess time will tell.
The people I have talked to at Lila have been approachable and easy to talk to regarding the problems/questions I have had so far.

The staff are very friendly, great tech support. The composer works great. Now I don’t have to put my smelly food waste into the green bin, instead they are in Lila composter and turn into soil no food being wasted and an added bonus it is also an air purifier.
