Avoid unless you are prepared for legal action
Avoid this company unless you have a qualification in UK law and you want to get some extra practice in.
I called them out in March to put right a jammed window and subsequently paid for a callout and a new mechanism. During the repair, the locksmith dropped the window damaging the frame. He bodged it back together with some screws on the promise that they would return and fix it. Fine - accidents happen and the guy was pretty bent out of shape over it so I was sympathetic.
The way the company handled it afterwards was a nightmare…
Little to no proactive communication. I had to chase them multiple times a day, often with the promise of a callback that would never happen. This went on for months. The window was damaged in March has now only been replaced now start of September.
I tried to resolve the matter amicably and gave them plenty of leniency to deal with it (considering I had a hole in the corner of my window frame). After months of chasing I served the company with a formal Letter Before Action but they chose to ignored it.
It was only after I sent them a message showing that I had completed the court application and was prepared to proceed with a small claims case that they finally offered to replace the window that they had damaged.
The replacement has now been completed, but unfortunately the workmanship is lacking. Silicone caked on, window ledge covered in scratches. I had to call the fitter back in and get them to tidy up the work – I’ll still have to dig it all out and re-silicone it myself when I decorate the room. After spending over £250, I have effectively been left with a worse window than I had before calling them...
I wasted a massive amount of time chasing them, and finally documenting and preparing a court claim simply to get them to take responsibility for damage they caused.
Accidents happen and I’m cool with that but what really matters is how a company responds when things go wrong. It seems these guys will only do the right thing when legal proceedings are basically imminent.
I’m sure they don’t drop a window on the regular, but I would avoid this business unless you are prepared to spend months chasing them and take them to court if they damage your property.
