The whole process of our house purchase and sale was managed by a team and so whenever we needed to make contact there was always someone on the end of the line or email who knew what was happening. Because we were part of a long chain and at the top of the chain it took longer to exchange and complete on the relevant days - Natalie and Rebecca stayed on to ensure that these happened even after hours. I cannot speak highly enough of all the members of the team.

Samir and Holly have been fantastic helping walk through the options open following a prosecution by TFL. Clear advice, and honest assessments of a chance of success and cost of each stage, never over promising what they could deliver.

This has helped a stressful event be managed better than I could do without their help, their knowledge of the process had helped get to a positive outcome.

It has to be simpler selling a property if no Estate Agent is involved. I always had the feeling that Manaks had the roadmap for this situation, a Private Sale. Indeed they had, representing me when the opposite's solicitor was being difficult. They were always calming when issues led to irksome delays.

We are almost 80 years old and have a pending inheritance of nearly £4 million. Our personal assets amount to at least £3 million.

On November 19, 2024, at 14:02, I called Manak Solicitors in Orpington to have a brief introductory chat about the probate of a deceased individual, his wife's unfinished probate, as well as wills, trusts, LPAs, and our future probate needs. I was informed that a 30-minute consultation would cost £150, plus presumably VAT.

I hesitated, and the representative bluntly told me that everyone charges for their services now. I then contacted Kings Court Trust, who sent a representative to our house for free. I apologise for the previous error in the contact date; we have since instructed them for our needs.

Thank you for your detailed response, but I must say that it only reinforces your profession's dubious reputation for high fees. Firstly, I am insulted by your assumption that I am naïve enough to accept this unreasonable fee structure. Do you treat all your clients this way?

I suggest that the person who wrote this disappointing reply should be seriously reprimanded. In what world do you believe it is acceptable to complain about spending a fiver for a cup of coffee while feeling justified in charging me £300 an hour just to introduce me to your business? Talk about added value—I can only imagine the additional charges that may come with each case.

What makes your profession different from any other skilled job that justifies such outrageous fees? The work I require is not specialised; some, if not all, of it I could handle myself if I chose to. These are routine tasks involving LPAs, trusts, and probates, which should come as second nature to you. While I may not know how to fix a car, local mechanics don’t hold me to ransom for their services.

As for your insinuation that readers should look at my review history, yes, I may be a prolific reviewer and have more time than most to share my thoughts, but if any of my reviews were not genuine, they would have been contested and removed.

What is the point of repeating what you already stated in your initial reply? It seems very unprofessional. No wonder the boss drives a brand-new Aston Martin.
