Wouldn't recommend Manduka.

I recently purchased the Commuter Carrier (in Indulge) and Yoga Mat Wash (in Lemongrass), I'm in Australia.

Manduka processed and posted out the wash in a Lavender scent. I emailed customer service to request an exchange and they wouldn't consider a free exchange (which would cost an additional $30 to return post and have them re-send).

+ Side note: The Indulge colour isn't vibrant as Mandukas website suggests, it's very dull. I'd hoped to pair it with my Manduka High Performance Prolite 4.5mm Mat in Thunder (which I purchased in 2016) as the mat still gets slippery early into a class.
Wouldn't recommend.

Buy At Your Own Risk

I’m very unhappy with the Manduka Almost Perfect Pro Mat and the company’s refusal to stand behind it. This mat was purchased as a gift by a friend who doesn’t practice yoga and had no idea it was final sale with zero return options. Once we realized it wasn’t right for me, Manduka flat-out refused any return or exchange.

As for the mat itself, it’s extremely heavy, awkward to carry, and far too wide and long, making it impractical for everyday use or studio classes. On top of that, it is incredibly slippery, even after multiple uses. For a mat marketed to serious practitioners, the lack of grip is frustrating and honestly unsafe.

The lack of transparency and zero customer support flexibility has completely turned me off from the brand. I would not recommend purchasing this mat, especially as a gift, unless you’re 100% certain it will be kept—because once you buy it, Manduka makes it very clear they’re done caring.

Overall, yoga mats are a personal choice, and this one completely missed the mark for me. Between the uncomfortable size, poor grip, and Manduka’s rigid and disappointing customer service, I won’t be purchasing from this brand again.

Slippery mat do not buy

I ordered 3 mats. A lot of money. 2 are great but the prolite is rubbish.
It is slippery, snd not fit for purpose.
They would not allow me to return, or swap for an eco mat. They sent a free towel which is even more slippery. The 18 people in my yoga group have all tried it, and find it slippy.no good for. Manduka state The PRO mat does take time to break in, and the more you stretch, twist, sweat and breathe together, the better it gets as the top surface naturally begins to wear in. Absolute rubbish. Please don't buy. They fob you off.

I have never been so disappointed with…

I have never been so disappointed with customer service from another brand. I placed online orders in general very frequently and I do understand that once in a blue moon, the website may have a glitch or maybe there will be a mistake with packing the wrong item in a warehouse. But Manduca sent me a color yoga mat that was different from the Matt that was advertised on their website. The only mat color that was shown in the photos was green. They sent me a tan colored mat. I reached out to them to let them know about this mistake and they explained there was a glitch where the photos showed a green mat, but the color was labeled “terracotta”, so I guess I’m just supposed to assume that I will receive a different color that is not photographed anywhere on their website, even though there was not a description of the color. There was only a label so for all I knew they were labeling this green mat as “terracotta”. The customer service essentially blamed me by restating that the label said terra-cotta even though I had photographs and screenshots of the order confirmation and receipt showing the green color and they told me that they could get an exchange started. I don’t feel like it should be my responsibility to help remedy a mistake that was made on their end and I really don’t appreciate them trying to put it on me. They didn’t offer any other ways to remedy the situation other than an exchange, and I didn’t have time for an exchange because this mat was a gift for a loved one who was counting on it to take on a yoga retreat. We don’t have time to go through that process. Alo may have cashed out, but their customer service actually tries to do everything they can to reach a resolution that both of them and the customer agree on without trying to share the blame with the customer for a mistake on their end?? I ordered a $100+ sweatshirt from Alo and received it in the wrong color. They immediately offered to either give me a giftcard of the same amount, or send me the correct color and I could keep the one they sent. The mat I bought from Manduka was around $60 but they couldn’t offer me anything? They are so cheap. Their Black Friday deals were pitiful because they basically matched the “15% off your first purchase of $125+” that they have year round. Except they raised the limit to minimum spend of $150. I never go out of my way to complain like this but they need to know. I’ve heard several times that their customer service is poor and that they try to shift blame on customers, but I guess I didn’t believe it until it happened to me. I’m not going to be buying from them anymore which really sucks because I was passionate about their products. I’m going to share this experience on every platform that I possibly can because this is so gravely disappointing.

Manduka markets a water proof yoga mat…

Manduka markets a water proof yoga mat at a mildly high cost. I've had my mat for about 9 years. Do not use very often. The mat started to absorb sweat. Not good. I contacted them, jumped through hoops getting pics, proof of purchase, and answering lots of questions.

Only for them to come back and blame me for the issues with the mat. I used ONCE OR TWICE OVER 9 YEARS a solution with 3% vinegar and water to refresh it. It is IMPOSSIBLE to damage the mat with this solution. But to them. It was their way out of warranteing it. They put profits over customers. Sad where society has gotten.

I hope no one buys from them ever again. I will post this everywhere I can find. This is sad. They could have easily solved this with a warranty replacement and said it is a one time courtesy a d don't use that solution to clean it. But no. So now I hope to ruin their business.

No consumer should give their hard earned money to a company that does all they can to NOT warranty their products. When will companies figure out that taking care of a consumer is a small price to pay for their continued success.

At this point I pray for their failure.

You Cannot Cancel An Online Order?

I placed an order on 9/20 @ 4pm for a very expensive yoga mat. It was a gift for my mom. Within ~4 hours of making the purchase, I learned she already had SIX YOGA MATS. Woops. Needless to say, I reached out to Manduka by email on 9/20 @ 8:11pm to cancel the order. Per their FAQ: "If you would like to cancel your order and you have not received a shipping confirmation email yet, then please send an email to info@***duka.com for assistance." I had not received a shipping confirmation and would have liked to cancel my order.

I did not hear back on 9/20 (it was late) or 9/21, so I followed up on 9/22 at 9:12am that I needed to cancel the order. Then received a shipping confirmation at 2:19pm. I followed up again at 3:29pm saying that I had asked twice for the order to be cancelled. What gives?!

On 9/23 at 11am, Manduka customer service finally reached out with the following:

"Please note that due to an automatic ordering system, we are unable to modify or cancel your order once it has been placed through the Manduka website. We apologize for any disappointment or frustration this may cause.

"Your order has shipped under Tracking Number: xxxxxxxxxxx. We would be happy to provide a prepaid return shipping label to send it back for a refund. If you wish to initiate a return, please respond to let us know. I would be happy to send one over."

Huh? What kind of policy is that? Is it even legal for a vendor to offer no means for a consumer to cancel an order? (It turns out it is legal in the US -- though rarely used since it's so scammy -- but is not legal in the UK.) I followed up expressing my frustration on 9/23 and 9/24.

Manduka responded on 9/25:

"While the Help Center message allows for cancellation requests, please note that such requests are not guaranteed. Our Shipping Page clearly states that changes and cancellations are not possible once the order is processed. I understand this may cause frustration, and I appreciate your understanding.

"Regarding your specific order, I did promptly submit a cancellation request. However, the order had already been shipped by that time, which unfortunately prevented me from halting the shipment. I have since contacted the carrier to arrange for the return of the order and am currently awaiting a response from them. I will keep you updated with any developments as I receive more information."

From the shipping page: "Our warehouse processes online orders between Monday and Friday." I got an alert that the order was shipped at 2:19pm CT on 9/22. So Manduka is essentially lying. They had 36 hours to cancel the order BEFORE it was "processed."

On 9/26, without a further "update on any developments," the order was delivered.

I reached out suggesting, as a offer of good will for all this nonsense, that they issue an immediate refund.

They responded:

"I'm sorry to hear that the Return to Sender request was not successful.

"Regrettably, we are unable to issue a refund unless the item is returned. We understand this may be frustrating and appreciate your understanding. Please let me know if you would like me to send a return label for the return of the item.

"We recognize this may not be the outcome you were hoping for and appreciate your understanding."

The language -- assuming that I understand and their appreciation for said understand -- is infuriating. I don't understand a thing.

Buyer beware.

I splurged on a yoga mat from Manduka…

I splurged on a yoga mat from Manduka for the first time because their website prominently displays a banner that says shipping and returns are free when you spend 125+ dollars. I figured it was worth the risk since I could return it if I wasn’t happy with the product. Well, I didn’t read the fine print and the specific mat I purchased was not included in the free return policy. That part is my fault. I understand that. However, the banner was very misleading. I kindly asked customer service if they would honor a one-time request to return the product free of shipping charges, as it seems unfair for the customer to pick up the costs given the misleading information on the website. I never would have purchased it had I known. It has been almost two weeks now of trying to contact them via email and phone call and they are completely unresponsive. I am so frustrated and disappointed in this brand. Do your research before purchasing from them. It is not worth the headache!

VERY BAD customer service

VERY BAD customer service! My daughter received a genuine MANDUKA EKO yoga mat and after 1 month of use it started to PEEL OFF...wrote to the company almost 1 month ago, sent pictures they replied after 2 weeks (when they say max 2 business days) and now INSIST I give email or proof of purchase...was given by a mexican friend and we are not in the country and no way to contact the friend for this...they must know by the brand, model and color that this is almost new and they should send a replacement...so I promised I will tell the world NOT TO BUY THIS BRAND beware the DO NOT HONOR THEIR WARRQANTY

Avoid Manduka UK – Slippery Mat & Terrible Return Policy!

I purchased the Manduka Pro yoga mat expecting top quality, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. The mat is incredibly slippery with zero grip, making it impossible to practice on safely. Despite their claims that it "gets better with use," this was absolutely not the case.
The real nightmare began when I tried to return it. Manduka UK's return process is a bureaucratic nightmare, and they seem to go out of their way to avoid issuing refunds. Since their European return policy differs from the UK, I was left fighting to even get a return label. In the end, I had to pay for the return myself ))) because their policy is conveniently designed to discourage refunds.It’s as if they assume no one will bother to return a faulty product.

This company is more interested in keeping your money than providing quality service. Highly DO NOT recommend buying from their website. Save your money and go elsewhere!

Slip and Slide on a Manduka Pro

My husband bought me a Manduka Pro mat for my birthday in September, 2024. It is one of the worst mats I've ever practiced on. I slip and slide on it and I am not even doing a hot practice. I've contacted Manduka as I was within the 90 day exchange period and they are not being very responsive. I just cannot use this mat. I've done all the "salt" method that Manduka recommends and it has not helped at all.

Disappointing Experience

I purchased the Manduka eKo Lite mat a year ago specifically for Ashtanga yoga, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The grip was insufficient for someone who sweats heavily like me, making it dangerously slippery during practice. Additionally, the mat showed significant wear and tear, with the sides fraying where my feet usually land. For an intense practice like Ashtanga, this mat simply doesn’t hold up. Considering it cost me 80€, it’s disappointing that it’s now unusable. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who practices intensely or sweats a lot.

I tested and tried Manduka products, they were average. What’s not average is the amount of text marketing they send to your cell phone. I receive a marketing text from Mandela 4x a month, I’ve blocked and deleted the number every time. I would not recommend buying products or giving information to a company like Manduka. Very annoying and inconsiderate.

Not a fan.

Unfortunately, I cannot support this company. I was working in Nicaragua at a local yoga studio in 2013. The CEO of Manduka, Peter Sterios, came to do a yoga training. He was stuck up and rude to several of us, and even humiliated a few students and teachers. In 2016 I was gifted a Manduka mat. From the start there was zero grip. There are much better yoga mat brands to support.

Greasy film on the mat, difficult to return, no communication

I bought the Manduka Pro on sale and it had a noticeable crease on the back, which wasn't mentioned. The PVC is covered with a greasy film that should be removed in a "break in process": you should sprinkle salt on the mat and leave it for 24 hours. Multiple times if necessary. With a mat this expensive, I expect to be able to use it straight away. The return is very difficult. Communication is non-existent. Customer service does not respond to multiple emails. There are good yoga mats made of PVC that only cost a third. I cannot recommend Manduka.

Expensive (buy sales) but quality product and fast delivery

I've gone trough a bunch of (cheaper) yoga mats now, and I have to say I'm very impressed with the pricier Manduka one. Got it on sale at a decent discount, normally they are a bit too expensive for my taste. I'm willing to pay a premium for a quality products, but still wouldn't pay full price at this point since I don't know how durable the mat is. So I was going to give the 4 instead of 5 stars. Shipping was quick though and no issues (never had any issues with DPD to be honest).

On a side-note, I don't quite understand how people that got scammed by a website imitating this brand, come to this page to give a bad review. That's a bit unfair. So I'll give 5 stars anyway to bump up their average a bit.

4 out of 5 aint bad.

Excellent customer service. Prompt and friendly replies.
Mat towels are a bit pricey thats why I gave a 4. Also a 4 because of items not being shown out of stock at the time of purchase and then getting an email saying, " oh sorry those items are out of stock." Its honestly no real big deal, just expressing an honest review.

The Pro-lite mat is awesome. Pricey, but life time guarantee.
Although it is very slippery when it gets wet at first, the Mat Towel actually helps with it a lot. The carry strap is very easy to use too, and helps with freeing up hands to carry other items if needed.

Thanks Manduka, I will certainly come back.
