I didn’t know what to expect when Manhattan Publishing House approached me. However,I knew this company was different.Instead of telling me about their specials on publishing they knew I had a problem. Their representative Zayn Aly told me why my book was not selling and he had a plan to rectify the problem.It was the first time that someone tried to help me instead of trying to sell me something.

Everything about this company has impressed me. Their staff are true professionals. Their senior management are leaders in the industry. That is why dozens of leading authors use their service repeatedly. I have no hesitation in highly recommending their service. Peter O’Rourke

I am writing this review as a family member of a client who worked directly with Manhattan Publishing House.

This review reflects my personal observations and my family member’s experience. I was considering working with this company, but have since changed my mind.

At first glance, their website appears professional and legitimate. However, based on my family’s experience and my own reviews of their website, there are several concerns that I believe others should be aware of.

My family member engaged with this company and paid for their services with the understanding that they would receive professional editorial support. The work delivered did not appear to reflect the level of individualized, human editorial feedback that I would expect as a paid service. Instead, what I reviewed and read appeared generic and templated in nature, which raised concerns about the nature and quality of what was provided.

My family member also attempted to meet in person with individuals he was told he would be working with - Ethan and Joshua- in New York City on two separate occasions once around Christmastime 2025 and again on April 7, 2026. On both occasions, the meetings did not occur and last-minute explanations were provided.

The company lists a Manhattan address on its website. So I personally went to this address in New York City on April 7 after my family member’s meeting was canceled. There was no identifiable office or active business presence at that location.

While at that location, I called the number on their website, I spoke by phone with what I was told were representatives of the company. Based on that interaction, I felt the responses were not collaborative and that there was reluctance to provide clear information when I explained that we were physically present at the listed address while on the phone with them. The conversation left me with further concerns.

A refund was formally requested on April 7 on the above phone call. Since then several emails have been sent asking again for money back. As of April 24, no refund has been received.

I also see that the company has a large number of highly positive online reviews. While I cannot verify their authenticity, they do not reflect my family member’s experience, which raises additional serious concerns.

Based on what I encountered and witnessed my family member encounter, I strongly encourage anyone considering working with this company to proceed with caution, verify all details independently, and ensure clear expectations before making any financial commitment. I have chosen not to.

If this matter is resolved and a refund is received, I will update this review accordingly. As of writing this on April 24, 2026, despite multiple requests, no refund has been received in my family member’s bank account.

Joshua Peterson and his team are very professional to work with. They deliver in a timely manner, they are open to feedback to improve the illustrations according to the author's vision. Overall, Manhattan Publishing House is highly recommended. I will work with them in publishing my books again and again.

I entered into a contract with Manhattan Publishing House almost seven months ago. Everything seemed to be legit, and I was assigned to a "project Manager " named Joshua. After months of back-and-forth emails and editing, there were duplications in the narration from chapter to chapter. I was told there was a "team" editing my 105,000-plus-word manuscript. I realized there was no coordination among the different people working on my project. Chapters one and two had the same info included after their "final" edits. I contacted them about this and was told by Joshua that he agreed, and one person should work on my book. After working on only the manuscript's first three chapters for seven months, they never received final, acceptable developmental editing! I attempted to meet with Joshua in person, and before traveling from Boston to NY, I was told by phone that he was ill and that the New York office was closed as a result. Months later, I decided to meet with him again and was told he was now out of the country! I finally decided to travel from Boston to NYC to meet with ANYONE at their office. Upon going to 448 Broadway (Their listed address), I was shocked to find out ....They have no physical office there! I called the number listed and was told by a Rick Jordon that "we are an online company and to meet anyone in person will cost you more money!" Obviously, I had been scammed and am now taking legal action to recover my money. My advice is to stay away from this company !!.....Though they promised a full refund ie "We have processed a refund in good faith" (Note their comment below), It was never delivered! Another falsehood. Beware of this online ghost outfit! I have now been advised to file with the NY Attorney General's office and the Massachusetts AG's office, and we are preparing our claim!

Manhattan Publishing House was there for every step and didn't leave me out of any decisions. They made sure I was involved and improved every picture before moving forward. They kept me in the loop and guided me to help me make the best decisions for my book. They also answered questions I had and explained things I had trouble understanding. I highly recommend them to anyone who has written a book and wants to publish it!!

The contract is so clear and easy to read. The instructions to buy a package including illustrations are so simple to follow. I also love the advertisement via messenger.

Still in early stages of bringing my children's books to print, but so far the level of professionalism along with very approachable and friendly staff. I am certainly happy with my choice.
So up to now I would 100% recommend contacting them and letting them help bring you work to print.

Manhattan has honest people

I had already published a book but had no funds to promote it on social media due to financial difficulties. Joshua graciously offered to work with me and now I can move forward with promoting my book. He is so professional and compassionate regarding my personal situation. He also offered to resolve errors in my book that were made in my first publication. I am so excited now to move forward with my book on social media. Hopefully I can retire soon and write another book. Thank you Joshua! You have answered my prayers! 🙏

I am currently working with Joshua who has been extremely helpful! He has replied to all my questions and concerns promptly thus (sure there will be more) far helping me every step of the way for I am a first time author. He reminds me to submit questions ideas and concerns at anytime. The illustration for the front cover was right on based upon some of my thoughts and imagination.
I am looking forward to seeing more as the work continues.

The team I worked with was proficient, fast, the illustrator gave me exactly what I asked for. They revised it until I was satisfied. I’m looking forward to working with them again. For this to be my first children’s book it was an excellent experience.

I came in with a story and a dream, Manhattan Publishing made my story come alive and my dream come true! The illustrations are exactly what I wanted! I was helped and guided through every step and my book is being published today. I am so thrilled and can’t recommend enough! Thank you!

My only groan is having to rate Manhattan Publishing after EVERY dealing.

Nearly everything in publication of three of my books with Manhattan has been professional and first-rate, from keeping me apprised of the progress of my books, to the various steps in the whole process. Manhattan has some gifted staff, readers and artists so it has always been exciting to see what the cover art will be, and to hear any of the incisive suggestions. I think separating four stories into two books was really insightful, and having the “Hitler’s Other Girlfriend” book stand alone made that story stronger. Joshua is a steady hand in midwifing the books, and is very reliable, asking all the right questions. Highly recommend Manhattan to anyone wanting to publish books; they know what they are doing.

My only quibble is in the actual printing of the books a couple of times has had some errors caused by the process, with several pages of squished together lines, and one book had two books back to back in one binding.

It was easy to pay with my credit card.
