Improves drainage
Decorative finish for pots, containers & Rockeries
Adds weight to pots & containers
Ideal for anchoring aquatic plants
Take advantage of Westland Potting Grit; ideal for mixing with compost to enhance drainage. Potting Grit opens up the structure of the compost and creates essential air pockets around the plant roots. Its clean, uniform appearance makes it an ideal choice for creating a decorative finish for pots, containers, rockeries, around ponds, in aquariums and also for alpine landscapes.
It's a great aid for you the propagator too, making an excellent, free-draining base for potted plants. We recommend you mix with a multi-purpose compost to enhance drainage for plants that will not tolerate water logging. Ideal for alpine plants, ornamental succulents and cacti.

The grit had slightly larger pieces than I was expecting (based on what I see Monty Don using), but it will no doubt do its job now the heavens have opened again.

As with horticultural sand, potting grit has helped seedlings and plants in my greenhouse and in starter pots to flourish.

I had a bag before which was nice to the touch and good to look at, this latest bag feels sandy and mucky and isn't nice to look at. I may have to wash it and see if it improves. Rather disappointed.
