Poor performance, awful communication, stressful experience. Avoid at all costs
Booked through an agency. 6 weeks before the wedding the agency advised the band would get in touch directly. Despite several attempts by me and the agency to speak to the band they only contacted me a week before we got married. This was hugely stressful and I honestly didn't think we would have a band turn up on the day.
The messages back and forth when they did happen were frustrating. Jake asked my availability but then ignored it. Would message to ask if i could do a call now when I had already said I couldn't. And then at a time I suggested, which he never responded to so I assumed that indicated agreement, he was working.
They had just a week to learn our first dance and from what I understand the lead artist works 6 days so I am not sure when they find time to rehearse. And this was evident in the poor performance given.
My other half had requested they learn a song as a surprise to me to end his speech on. This had been requested weeks earlier through the agency and discussed with Jake directly. He did not learn the song. Neither did he offer to play it in the "dj set" which also did not meet our expectations. So my other half never had the opportunity to finish his speech as he had prepared.
Jake sent over a typical playlist with a list of alternative tracks we could swap out. I could not believe that a typical wedding set list included break up songs such as I will survive, however, I simply asked for them to be swapped. This was not done and the band sung them anyway which is just shocking that they think that is ok at a wedding.
We had chosen the band based on the lead female vocalist. She did not attend the wedding and after a bit of digging it would appear there has been no promotional materials with her in since December 2023. So despite the band saying they had to arrange a stand in due to ill health I very much doubt this is the case and feel we were missold the band. They have been using a different female singer who also did not attend as it would appear she has also left the band.
The performance, particularly in the 2nd half, was not great. Wrong words were sung on several occasions and the performance was just generally poor.
After the wedding we raised a complaint and was initially offered no compensation from the band despite numerous issues on their part. After several communications with the agency they managed to negotiate a very small refund which is not reflective for what we deserve back. And the band are now under a review with the agency on whether they will continue to represent them if this is what their customers will have to deal with.
If you are a bride or groom who want to avoid further stress being piled on your plate and left disappointed by the music on your big day avoid this band at all costs.
The band are also known by Groove Mavericks.
