Ervaringen Hotel Mediterranean Princess, Paralia, Griekenland.

Van 5 mei tot 19 mei verbleven wij via Sunweb.nl geboekt, in dit hotel (kamer 110).

De eerste indruk is, de kleur van de buitenkant is inmiddels gewijzigd van rood in licht grijs. Opvallend; de verdiepingen hoge naaldbomen tussen de balkons, prachtig!
Prettig: Rustig, heerlijke zwembaden met prachtige tuin er omheen, Adults Only 17+, Correcte kleding in het restaurant verplicht.
Het hotel beschikt over twee grote parkeerterreinen. Naast het hotel zijn bouwwerkzaamheden maar tijdens ons verblijf, niets van gemerkt.

Het hotel ligt net buiten Paralia en heeft een zeer breed strand met eigen (gratis) ligbedden en parasols. Onze wandeling naar Paralia nam ca. 20-25 minuten in beslag (rustig gewandeld).
Paralia is een leuke plaats met haven, veel winkeltjes, restaurantjes en een mooie kerk.

Het personeel is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam maar dat is typisch Grieks en dat vinden wij al vele jaren en spreekt ook Engels & Duits. Onze kamer was ruim met een buiten zitje, twee grote 1 persoons-bedden, een behoorlijk grote kast met erg veel opbergmogelijkheden. En voldoende knapen in de kast.
Een nette badkamer met grote spiegel en een douchehoek en toilet.

Wij hadden halfpension geboekt, dus met uitgebreid ontbijt en ook een zeer uitgebreid diner met best veel variatie dus 'voor elk wat wils, zogezegd. Veel desserts, vaak wel zoet.

Fietshuur is mogelijk via het hotel en excursies zijn te boeken via een lokale reisleidster (mevrouw Vasso Papadopoulou) die 3x per week in het hotel aanwezig is.

Het treinstation op 7meter afstand klopt niet, dit moet waarschijnlijk 7 kilometer zijn (in Katerini).

TIP: bij aankomst met (rol)koffers, ga buiten vanaf de hoofdingang, linksom (met de klok mee dus), langs het zwembad. Daar is een ingang met hellingen en een lift.

We had booked two rooms and requested that they be next to each other. When we arrived at the hotel, we did not get rooms next to each other, even though we had received confirmation that we would. The receptionist was rude and simply said that “it is what it is.” There was a strong smell throughout the hotel due to the use of a fragrance aroma – very unpleasant.

The rooms themselves were nice and did not smell.

The breakfast was poor and there were far too many people.

The day before we checked out, we asked to keep one of our rooms for longer against payment. We were told that this was okay. However, the next morning when we checked out of one room, we were told that we could NOT keep the other room for the rest of the day, even though we had been promised this. Yet another very rude receptionist who couldn’t understand that we were facing a challenge, as my father has dementia and needs a place to stay.

We will NEVER come back. There are other good hotels right next door that treat their guests properly.

In our opinion, this is NOT a 5-star hotel.

Just arrived and I have to say, for a 4 star the room is very basic. No facilities other than a fridge. Very small room for a 2 week stay. Just stayed in a 3 star in Panorama for a fraction of the price and room was large, great facilities including robes and a couch. I'm quite disappointed. I contacted them with plenty of notice to say wouldn't arrive the first day (paid for) and asked if we could get late check out instead and was informed to ask the day before we leave. I've visited Greece a few times but my first time here and I'm not overly impressed.included in the price is half board. I got a bowl of soup and there was metal in it. This has prevented me eating here again so what I paid for half board has gone to waste. I am now having to pay to eat elsewhere. They compensated us with a kettle and the late checkout I asked for.

Update. I have changed my original rating due to the hotel having gone above and beyond to fix everything that was wrong. Stella and her team should be commended for their efforts. Thank you for ensuring I enjoyed my holiday.
