Midas can't diagnose accurately and botches repairs on brakes

On 11/18/2025, I visited Midas Auto Service & Tires, 1439 Plymouth Ave, Fall River, MA, to have the brakes serviced on my Mercedes‑Benz GLK250. After the repair, the “Check Brake Pad Wear” message immediately appeared on my dashboard. The manager told me they had replaced the sensors multiple times but could not clear the warning. He stated there was nothing more they could do and advised me to simply reset the message each time I started the vehicle.
On 1/27/2026, I returned to Midas because several issues had developed:
• Check engine light
• Low coolant level warning
• Low tire pressure warning
• Brake pad wear message still present
The manager told me my coolant was “dirty” and needed to be replaced, and that this was causing the check engine light. He also stated that all of my tire pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS) needed replacement. Later that day, he called to say that all of my lug bolts were seized, that several broke during removal, and that replacing the bolts alone would cost approximately $500. I refused this charge, and we agreed that I would purchase new bolts myself and bring them in. Midas replaced the TPMS sensors on the passenger side but stated the driver‑side sensors still needed to be replaced. After I picked up the vehicle, all of the warning lights returned.
A couple of weeks later, I returned again for the remaining TPMS replacements and to have the lug bolts installed. I also informed them that the coolant light, brake pad message, check engine light, and tire pressure warning had all returned. The manager told me they had purchased a new diagnostic computer and that the check engine light was due to low DEF fluid, despite the fact that I had added a full box only days earlier. They claimed to add DEF fluid and coolant, and stated the lights went off. They then replaced the remaining TPMS sensors and installed the lug bolts I provided.
I am concerned that all of the lug bolts were suddenly difficult to remove, even though Midas had no difficulty removing them during the brake service a few months earlier. Since they were the last ones to reinstall the bolts, I question whether they were cross‑threaded or improperly installed. Something does not add up.
After leaving Midas, all of the warning lights returned again, except for the tire pressure message. At this point, I brought my vehicle to the Mercedes‑Benz dealership for a proper diagnosis.
The Mercedes‑Benz service department informed me that:
• The brake pad wear warning was caused by a severed brake wear sensor wire, which occurred due to improper routing during the brake service performed by Midas. This was documented on their invoice, and they provided photographs.
• The DEF level sensor was faulty, which is why the check engine light was on.
• The coolant level was low, which caused the coolant warning to reappear.
I returned to Midas to speak with the manager, who told me it was “their word against the dealership’s” and refused reimbursement for the brake wire repair, which cost over $500.
I then filed a complaint with Midas corporate. I was contacted by Derek Johnson, Area Director for MA and RI for Midas/AMG Enterprises. He stated that Midas was not responsible for the severed brake wire and claimed the harness was routed correctly. His explanation contradicted the dealership’s documentation and photographs. He also claimed the brake warning light was not on during either of my visits, which is not true, as the light was present immediately after the brake service and remained on throughout all subsequent visits.
I originally requested reimbursement only for the brake wire repair. However, given the likelihood that the lug bolts were cross‑threaded or improperly installed during the brake service — resulting in additional parts and labor costs — I am now requesting reimbursement for those expenses as well.
I am requesting a total reimbursement of $1,200, which covers:
• The brake wear sensor wire replacement
• The cost of replacement lug bolts
• The labor associated with removing and reinstalling the damaged bolts
Midas’s repeated misdiagnosis, improper workmanship, and refusal to take responsibility have caused significant inconvenience, safety concerns, and unnecessary expenses.

My name is Paul I dont really leave reviews Not really my thing . Dont even have a gmail. I am using a friends to post.stay away from midas wexford. i took my truck here for brakes . they called me the next morning telling me that my truck was leaking antifreeze all over the parking lot and that i needed a water pump at a cost of nearly 1000 dollars . Tims (manager) exact words were : my tech went outside to pull your truck in and noticed it was leaking antifreeze all over the place, it leaked a trail all over the parking lot. " I sent my girlfriend up because i could not leave work. we live 10 minutes away. There was no antifreeze where we parked it the night before, nor was there any trail of antifreeze into the building as stated by the manager 10 minutes before hand. She faced timed me as she entered the building and there was antifreeze all over the bay floor under my truck yet no antifreeze outside. I confronted tim via phone with info that my girlfriend had gathered. He stated that his tech was being dishonest about the coolant leaking out side and he didnt know how it started leaking in the building. They admitted to lying when the information gave them no other choice . Dont let them lie to you like they did to me . Filing complaints with bbb and attorney general.

Midas Pacific Beach misdiagnosed my issue and upsold me parts that I did not need. They replaced the spark plugs at 45,000 miles and the manufacturer recommendation was at 105,000 miles. They did not even fix the problem<--You can sue for DEMAND FOR CURE Formal Demand for Cure

To the Management of Midas:

This letter serves as a formal Demand for Cure pursuant to Indiana Code § 24-5-0.5-5. I am providing notice within the required six-month window of discovering a deceptive act regarding the repair of my vehicle.

1. The Deceptive Act:
On April 2026, your facility charged me $1,548.22 to replace the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and $600 for a starter. Your technicians failed to resolve or address the root cause of the electrical failure: a significant sunroof leak. By blowing the hinges off during your 'draining of the SunRoof Tubes with improper equipment, admitting "Midas doesn't work on Sunroofs, you should take it to a body Shoppe" Insisted on installing a high-value electrical component while water was actively intruding into the vehicle's electrical housing, the repair was fundamentally flawed and destined for immediate failure.

Negligence:
On April, 2026, a certified Toyota technician Mike Smartz inspected the vehicle and documented the following: TOYOTA INSPECTION FINDS

"Tech verified sunroof is leaking causing water to intrude into the vehicle which caused ECU to fail. Found no communication with the ECM."
SUE MIDAS: Had to rent a car from Airport, because AAA towed my car to dealership. SMALL CLAIMS COURT. MIDAS didn't offer a rental for over a month of service and misdiagnosis. So Rental Car was forced!!!Please be advised that a formal complaint has already been filed with the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. If this matter is not resolved within 30 days, I am prepared to escalate this to small claims court to seek the refund, court costs, and potential triple damages as allowed under The Deceptive Consumer Sales Act. HEYEVERYONE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT?

Via via... .ik tevreden,Ze sturen me overal wandelen omdat ik een oudere auto heb. Mijn buurvrouw zegt ,ga naar Luc en Marleen van Midas. Ik afspraak gemaakt en langs ,wauw fantastisch.
Mijn auto de brug op ze kijken hem na . ze komen me roepen om te kijken wat er scheelt.....mijn uitlaat.
Dus we bekijken het samen ,ze maken een offerte en ik dolblij een afspraak gemaakt.
Ola,ola zo fijn als mens behandeld te worden,er werd geluisterd en ik werd niet uitgelachen of weg verstuurd.
Ik ben zooo blij 👍👍👍👍👍
Dank u Midas Sint -truiden en de knappe Tuur.

I will never bring a vehicle here. They did a tune up. Before I could get a block down the street. The check engine light came on. My vehicle drove terrible. They made my vehicle worse. I brought the vehicle back. They said it needed another part. They installed it. I drove the vehicle away. It still drove terrible. And the engine was skipping. Then the check engine light came on again. I brought it back again They told me that was the transmission. They could not figure what was wrong. I should have known they did not know what they where doing because they took all 4 wheels off & had my vehicle sitting on the wheel hub & axles on the ground to do a tune up. Finally I took my vehicle back to the dealer & they fixed it right. Not only are they liars but, they don't know what they are doing. Do not bring your vehicle here.

Ik ging naar Midas Gentbrugge voor een…

Ik ging naar Midas Gentbrugge voor een normaal, routine-onderhoud. Daarna zeiden ze dat er een lek was en dat ze het zouden controleren. Vervolgens stuurden ze mij een factuur van meer dan €600. Ik vroeg hoe dat mogelijk was, maar ze zeiden dat er iets niet in orde was en dat ze onderdelen zouden vervangen. Ik ging akkoord.

Toen ik mijn auto kwam ophalen en betaalde, stopte de motor al na ongeveer 5 minuten rijden. Er was zelfs al eerder een melding op het scherm dat ik moest stoppen. Voordat ik naar deze garage ging, was mijn auto in normale staat — ik kwam alleen voor een oliewissel.

Toen ik terugging, zeiden ze dat ik de auto moest terugbrengen zodat ze het konden controleren. Nu zeggen ze dat ik de hele motor of de koppakking moet vervangen, wat meer dan €1400 kost. Ik heb gezegd dat ik dat niet wil en vroeg mijn eerdere €600 terug, maar dat hebben ze ook niet teruggegeven.

Ik heb hen ook gezegd: hoe werken jullie eigenlijk? Eerst zeggen jullie dat een bepaald onderdeel vervangen moet worden, maar blijkbaar wisten jullie in het begin niet eens wat er precies mis was. Jullie hebben dingen vervangen, en nu zeggen jullie dat de motor of andere onderdelen zoals de waterpomp vervangen moeten worden.

Ze hebben mijn auto kapotgemaakt voor een simpele oliewissel. Ik ben mijn auto kwijt en ook €600 verloren. Ga niet naar deze garage — ze zijn niet professioneel en ook niet vriendelijk.

Après changement des triangles de ma…

Après changement des triangles de ma voiture fait un bruit a droite . Je ramène le véhicule 3 fois car a chaque fois ils regardent ,graissent mais quelques jours après c'est reparti. J'ai donc repayé un garagiste pour ce bruit car midas ne trouvait pas. Les triangles avaient mal été vissé. Autant dire que je suis très mécontente. J'ai donc repayé une réparation car triangle non serré et trop long donc ça tapait sur la carrosserie. Je devrai les rechanger car ce ne sont pas des triangles de la marque de ma voiture. Ce sont des triangles adaptables . La facture totale est salé. Je suis très insatisfaite et le jour de la réparation chez midas ,un employé était absent ,on m'a demandé de venir plus tard et c'est ce que j'ai fait. Pour le coup étant a la bourre ,il m'a fait n'importe quoi et n'a pas reconnu sa faute. Un conseil ? Fuir cagnes sur mer avenue de nice midas 350 e (en l'air ) +140 e le mécanicien . Voilà merci midas

I pre-booked for an oil and filter change. When I arrived, they indicated that I had to leave my car there the whole day. Extremely inconvenient as I had two way taxi fares to deal with. Very poor service. Obviously they overbooked their service bays. I do not recommend Midas for routine service that should take under an hour to complete.

A fuir !!!

A fuir !!!! J’ai laissé mon véhicule hier pour une vidange j’en suis ressorti avec une amende car le technicien est allé se promener avec mon véhicule. ( l’explication qui m’a donné ce qu’il a fait un essai pour une vidange )en plus la jauge de mon essence était bien descendu changement de radio, bien évidemment. J’ai récupéré mon véhicule sur le siège arrière tout tache. J’ai fait appeler le responsable qui toute responsabilité aucun professionnalisme. L’accueil était déplorable un établissement auquel je ne recommande pas du tout. Vous pensez laisser votre véhicule en toute confiance et en fait ce n’est vraiment pas le cas.

Happy customer…

I went for service at the Midas location in Hudson NY for my Honda CRV, the service manager Marco was awesome. He explained to me and took me to the bay to show me the necessary service for my vehicle. He was courteous and I did not feel at all that he tried to oversell any that the vehicle not needed. Give me a few days to compose but I have a juicy one coming up about my dark journey thru the midas maze of work performed or should say not performed over a 5 overnight trip adventure to and from their shop attempting to get my car fixed for a draw on my battery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Well here we go. Battery going dead so I bought a new one from Autozone. Battery still went dead so I took it to Midas. They said they would have to hook up the diagnostic machine up for $99 I said alright. Here is when the fun started. Nothing showed up which he said was normal for older cars. Why even hook it up then. Then they said the battery was bad so we got a new one from Autozone. Took it home dead battery next day. Took it back they said that battery was bad installed another took it home next day battery was dead. Took back in they said dome lights bad put in new ones took it home dead once again. This went on for four or five times. Each trip was overnight requiring my wife to pick me up before I said enough was enough. Took car home called Midas owner about a refund and he said the alternator was bad and wanted to charge me another two or three hundred to replace it. Unbelievable, the car is in my garage and he can tell the alternator is bad and didn't even have to look at it. He is good. The car only has 95000 miles on it. Ended up taking car to my normal real mechanic in Shakopee and in about a hour he found the door switch needed cleaning, bingo fixed for $183 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!Paid $430 to Midas for exactly nothing except guessing what was wrong. You be the judge! IF YOUR CAR BREAKS DOWN IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING PUSH IT DOWN THE STREET!!!!!!!

Geef 1 ster omdat 0 sterren niet kan. Beloven maar niets doen. Gingen mijn factuur voor 4 nieuwe banden her evalueren , doch ze doen niets. Had lekke band met vijs in loopvlak doch kon volgens de malafide heren van Midas niet hersteld worden, er moesten 4 nieuwe banden op. Nu naar keuring geweest, kreeg rode kaart met auto met amper 50000 km op de teller. Benzinetank zat helemaal los, Beugel was losgemaakt geweest. Ik noem dit sabotage, alhoewel ik niet kan bewijzen dat dit aan Midas ligt is er wel een sterk vermoeden. Ik ga er NOOIT meer
