Wanted to get my grandma a very nice dress for her 97th birthday this year and she saw this dress. The dress isn’t expensive it’s 140 but the shipping and handling is crazy. 3 types of shipping fees which came out to over $60 for just shipping and handling y’all are straight stealing from people nowadays that is crazy. I will not be buying this dress from y’all and I cannot believe y’all still have customers with all the other reviews and what I’ve heard about the company don’t even waste your money on these people.

Placed an order 3/16/2026, was charged $20.14 in Tariff fees and $31.98 in shipping. Today 3/17/2026 attempted to cancel the order and was told I could not. Shameful that the prices are higher than most places and they gouge customers in charges.

I FINALLY RECEIVED MY PINK DRESS
I FINALLY RECEIVED MY PINK DRESS. SO FAR I GAVE ORDERED 2 DRESSES FROM THEM. THEY ARE OKAY. THE PROBLEM NOW IS EVERYTIME I'VE TRIED TO PAY THEM ON LINE, AND USE MY VISA DEBIT CARD, I CAN NEVER GET THROUGH. IT KEEPS SAYING, "OUR DEBIT/CREDIT CARD SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING RIGHT NOW." SO, I CALLED TO MAKE A PAYMENT AND THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH WAS CHARGING ME 3.50 TO PROCESS MY PAYMENT BY PHONE. THEY ARE SUCH SCAMMERS. IT’S NOT MY FAULT THEIR CARD SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING. I'M GOING TO TRY IT AGAIN TODAY. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
Garbage Slippers
All you people had to do was to send me a new pair of slippers to replace these pieces of junk. But no, it was only very slightly over your short return window and you refused. So I'm still wearing these as I haven't had the time to shop for something from a better company and the inside white liner is halfway out the back of the burgundy slippers and I can't push it in or pull it out. It looks ridiculous. I'm going to have to cut it off which defeats the purpose of having what I thought would be comfy slippers for after my shower. The amount of money you're going to lose from a negative review compared to 20 lousy dollars (or actually less, due to your wholesale cost on these cheap items) to replace and ship a new pair to me boggles my mind. I've been in retail management and I know for negligible amounts of money you make the customer happy. Apparently other customers are unhappy as well as evidenced by your lousy rating. It cost 10 times as much money to gain a new customer as to retain an old one so you'll be going out of business.

Money Grab
I ordered a dress from Midnight Velvet. This was the worst mistake of my life. Buyer Beware!!! I only wish I had read the reviews first. I sent the dress back unopened. The dress was $99 after taxes, tariffs and shipping and handling the total came to $131 and some cents. I was told that a separate tax of $7.44 was owed. I received a refund check of $93.25. The company kept $30.72 of MY money. I'm trying to get someone at this company to make that make sense. Every call has been a lot of excuses and lies. All I asked was for Midnight Velvet to refund the same amount of the check that I wrote! If they do not I will be out of $50.72, because I spent $20.00 to send the dress back to the company. I cannot believe a company can legally steal from the consumer🤔😡
update: I received a prepaid card in the amount of $21.98. I'm still short of some money. I'm so exhausted dealing with Midnight Velvet! The bottom line I've pretty much paid my way out of dealing with them. Note to self: NEVER order from Midnight Velvet again!
Horrible horrible customer service
Horrible horrible customer service. I called to order a dress and was told it was $116 with shipping surcharge and taxes. I didn’t order it so I called back about 10 minutes later to go ahead and order the dress and the agent told me it was going to be $132 I asked her how did the price change so fast. By now I have been on the phone over an hour with both calls. So I ask to speak to a supervisor. I was told I have to make the purchase first so I ordered the dress and asked for a supervisor she had a very nasty disposition. Interrupting me while I was talking, with a very nonprofessional tone. After we talked I asked her if I could speak to her supervisor or boss. She told me she didn’t have a boss(everyone has a boss) I told her that I would really like to talk to her boss but she relentlessly denied having a manager. We went back and forth for about another 30 minutes. This employee gives this company a very bad name. All I am asking is for someone who is over the supervisors at Midnight Velvet to contact me. This was the worst customer service I ever experienced
Ordering is a hassle
My Mom gave me their catalog and had circled various things she liked. I called to order after waiting 10 minutes and got hung up on. I tried again and they told me I needed my Mom's permission to order from her magazine. I explained that this was a gift and I would be paying w my credit card. She said I would have to open an account first. I asked to be transferred to customer service and went round and round w Stephanie to no avail. I finally tried ordering online and saw that a $20 tariff was added and to add insult to injury, the blazer I was trying to order was no longer available. This is truly one of the worst customer service encounters I have had.

I ordered two pair of dressy high heel pumps for dress wear. The style, the appearance,was beautiful and I am not a first-time Midnight Velvet customer. I've been a customer for over 20 years. For some reaso the shoes did not fit, and yes I did order my correct size .They were very ,very exact.. I ordered my products online therefore, I was charged for shipping and handling at the time of purchase. Once receiving my package, the only return label that I rcv'd was one that said "online return".(Go figure.) I went to UPS to return my package and I had to pay $31 to return the package to them! And yes, before I did it I called them to confirm this with a Midnight Velvet agent and they agreed that this was the process that I had to go through. Of course this was upsetting to me. I feel as though I should have been offered a free return label so that I could ship the merchandise back to them, but instead I'm out of $31 plus the fee that they charged me initially. For that reason I choose to share this information with anyone else who may be ordering from them.+ I am not saying do not order from them because they're merchandise is amazing. What I am saying is make sure when you order that you know whatever you're ordering is 100% the size you need so that you do not have to experience what I went through because I am feeling quite bitter about it. I'm retired and on a fixed income and I don't like giving money away. I would have much preferred to spend 31 additional dollars on another item but instead I will not be ordering from them ever again
Incompetent employees and not trained…
Incompetent employees and not trained with return procedure information. After speaking with five persons and receiving three emails, I was told that customers must pay for return shipping. Yet, the first three persons on the phone stated a mailing label was being emailed. The last call I requested a supervisor, who finally gave correct information regarding returns. The fourth person told me I had two accounts and refused to provide any details regarding the second account. The supervisor confirmed there was only one account.
I will never order from them again.
The companies do not care about customer retention. They just want your money.
I have been ordering for a few years with Midnight Velvet. I placed an order with a company called Ashro, whom they also own or work in conjunction with. I ordered a denim pant suit and received the jacket only. I then received an invoice for the pants and the jacket. I called the company and was told the pants were back ordered and had been for a while. My question... why was I billed for the pants? I finally received a credit for the pants and returned the jacket since it went with the pants. These clowns still charged me a fee to return. What did I gain out of this situation? A bill. I have spent a lot of money with Midnight Velvet and they refused to credit my account for the $20 + dollar fee. It is not the money. It is the principle. It is a shame that they do not value customer service/retention. That's ok though...I promise you they will eat that charge. I already drive my dream car and have a very nice home. As for Midnight Velvet, they can go to hell too. They will never get another dime from me.

My mom has been a member with Midnight Velvet for 12 years and 6 months and she always pays everything on time, and it's enough for them to always up her credit limit. She didn't order anything from them for 6 months and when she ordered something for Father's Day, they put a hard inquiry on her credit without telling her. Midnight Velvet shouldn't put a hard inquiry on someone's credit just because they haven't ordered anything with them in 6 months. That's a scam, especially when my mom was on the phone with one of the representatives about ordering the shoes that was supposed on be here on June 13, 2025, and they're still in Winsconsin... We're in California, so for them to not even tell my mom that they were going to put a hard inquiry and then tell her a specific date that the shoes were going to be here and they aren't it's a scam. Midnight needs to do better before they get a bad lawsuit because we're fighting this. By the way, a supervisor told one of her representatives to tell my mom that they do a hard inquiry every time you buy something.
Return/Exchange At Your Own Expense
My item arrived on time and was nice, however it didn’t fit and measured it was bigger than stated on their size chart. It was $60 + tax for 1 blouse. They refused to provide shipping label and told me to return at my own expense in original box that was size of a shoebox for a small blouse! I will never buy another item from them. Big RIP off! If you get something and for whatever reason you’re not satisfied it’s basically your problem!
Selling fake gold jewelry
Selling fake gold jewelry. They claim the gold is 10K and very pricey for a very thin, flimsy chain. It's sometimes difficult to tell when you are shopping from a catalog to know exactly what the product will actually look like when you receive it. In addition to the chain being about the circumference less than a piece of spaghetti it was paper thin. The kicker was that it seemed to tarnishing which should not happen if it's real gold as they claim (they absolutely stated it's not gold over silver it's solid 10K gold) so I took it to my neighborhood jeweler and had it tested for authenticity. I was told it's not real gold at all! This was a gift for my grandson, his first real "gold chain" which turned out not to be gold at all! He was so disappointed and I was beyond embarrassed to say the least. The customer service will tell you that they are "sorry" but refuse to admit that they did anything wrong. Sad they are taking advantage of unsuspecting customers. ***BEWARE!***

Midnight Velvet has fraudulent…
Midnight Velvet has fraudulent accounting. They have been fraudulently reporting that I owe over $600 on my previous account. They NEVER credited my account for ANY payments made. I ended up settling the account for $160.77 with Collection Bureau of Hudson Vallley on April 19, 2022 through AmeriMark (Midnight Velvet's previous parent company). At no time did Midnight Velvet make any adjustments or report accurately to all three credit reporting companies. I am still trying to get this resolved today.
