Twice now this company miller metcalfe in Bolton have placed in non paying tenants. The first tenant cost me a fortune in court costs to remove, they overcharged me to change all the locks, and now I am going through the same process all over again and yet face more costs to evict. Please think carefully before appointing this agency to market your property to rent. Very very unhappy customer.

Having been a tenant for 3.5 years under Miller Metcalfe, I can safely say that there is absolutely nothing commendable that I can say about them.
If you are contemplating renting a property from Miller Metcalfe, I strongly advise you to rethink and rent from elsewhere. If one of their agents takes you around the property and assures you that the property doesn't suffer from mould and damp - do not believe them. If you expect the landlord to fix problems at the house (no running water, no heat, no lights, mould, non-functioning Rayburn), then think again. The only thing that Miller Metcalfe are extremely good at doing is trying to retain the entirety of your tenancy deposit.

We rented a property from Miller Metcalfe for 3.5 years in Disley. When we were shown around, we were assured that damp was not an issue with the property. We paid a deposit of £900 and that was held with the DPS. During the 3.5 years we were tenants, we had a number of problems. A few minor issues were fixed by the landlord, but the main issues (mould, mice, severe damp, banging pipe in the toilet every time you flushed, lights above the Rayburn which did not work, periods with no hearing, periods with no running water; a non-working log burning fire) were never fixed at all, despite repeated requests.

We served Notice to Quit in due course, and spent the best part of £300 cleaning the property over 2 days. We then received an email from the owner (Alaine) claiming that the property hadn't been cleaned, needed a new carpet and needed new locks, and suggesting a sum in the region of £400 was to be withheld.

We responded straight away to that email but had no response whatsoever for a month. After chasing and making a very reasonable proposal, the sum remains with the DPS and looks to be heading to a mediation.

Avoid Miller Metcalfe rental properties at all costs!

We have had very poor service in managing our rental property. Next to impossible to get a response or contact any one, any email sent elicits a auto acknowledgement, no response for weeks, tried to phone , keep you on hold for 5 minutes and then directed to voice mail to leave a message. Very poor accounts department, invoices not sent promptly, but are very quick in chasing up, authorised repairs take months to complete. Don't think will renew management contract when it comes for renewal. This all began when they centralised the management in Nottingham or wherever it is. No local contacts.

Phoned to inquire about selling my property with them. Was put on hold by Bolton branch to check which branch would deal with my enquiry. I live in BL6. So presumed would be the Bolton branch to contact. Left on hold for a while then just cut me off. Needless to say i will choose another agent to sell with!

Terrible company. The customer service is atrocious as they ignore your emails and when they do eventually reply they haven’t answered any of your questions so you are still none the wiser. Asking them to call you falls on deaf ears too, they don’t call you. They don’t chase tenants rent so you the landlord are left short and when they do, it’s the end of the month before they’ve even made an effort to get your money. They don’t seem to register that mortgages need paying at the start of the month. Then they accept rent from tenants via cheque! You would expect a legitimate letting agency to set up direct debits or standing orders as standard practice, but no you’re left waiting for bloody cheques to clear. I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for a cheque to clear from my tenant, and no matter how many times I email, I am ignored! Would not recommend this company to manage your property. Go elsewhere or look after it yourself!

I have been using the services of Miller Metcalfe for several years. I have used their services to rent the property and also most recently to sell the house. There are professional and I had never had issues dealing with them. The key was communication and they always came back within 24-48hrs.

I have to mention 2 individuals who made the difference. Danielle Hughes and Chris McGowan. Chris did a really good job in making sure the property is rented and all issues on the property are resolved amicably.

Danielle help in negotiating with clients to sell the property was first class. She was patient, persistent and always positive. Her advice and suggestions during the selling process were very valuable.
