Great experience with MJ, took my 18th edition course and passed the exam. looking to do the ECS home course next for my labourers card.

Training course was OK, not the best but good value for money. Gives information and mock exams you need to pass. Home exam was good, saved me taking time off work, you need to read the set up instructions. Quite straightforward.

The training gave some good guidelines but I don't think it got across just how much you need to know the 18th edition inside out. The highlighting of the book was laborious and not really worth doing.

It's much better to try and train yourself to find facts via the table of figures and table of tables towards the back of the book where the beginning of lots of answers can be found.

Definitions, followed by Symbols used in BS7671 and Abbreviations used in BS7671 were extremely useful to know about, as was, Classification of External Influences; that I feel should have come directly after Abbreviations to make the book easier to navigate as they are all condensed collections of information. Infact, looking at the book again it used to be there abouts but they moved it...

Only about a fith of the questions in the exam simulators were relevant to the actual exam and I found answers in the book in several non-highlighted sections during the exam, once again proving that highlighting the book was not that useful as an exercise. You'd be far better off just practicing looking up answers with as many online exam simulators or passed papers as you can find until you are confident you could find just about anything in the book.

Also, am I the only one who thinks that the tutor sounds like Holy from Red Dwarf? Just an aside but I found it amusing to imagine Holy was trying to educate me.

Finally, Special Installations or Locations speaks for itself, if you have a question specific to any of the listed locations the answer will be in that section somewhere; then it's just a case of refining the search to the protective device or socket outlets or IP Ratings that the question is asking about.

A little bit outside the scope of this review I would strongly recommend that you undertake the exam in a test center to avoid the rigmarole that I went through scanning my room with a webcam and being told to more or less to remove everything on the walls or desk or floor which I found very stressful even though I tried my best the day before to make the room as bland and exam room like as possible. More of a City and Guilds complaint to be fair.

On the bright side the course got the ball rolling towards the Exam and every journey must start with the first step.

There was alot of useful information in the course and a good amount of mock exams to get you ready.

Simon was very easy to communicate with and sent all the information required to take the online exam successfully. When the exam was passed, Simon messaged me with the results not long after completing the exam.

I would recommend MJ training to anyone wanting to take the exams provided with this course.

This was an excellent choice. Took the sat the home version of the 18th Edition. The course material was easy to follow and included plenty of mock exams.
Emailing with Simon was easy, and even spoke on the phone regarding an issue.
Top bloke, Will be using again!

I don't have the time frame for various courses. This being online was a perfect solution for me and even better when the exam could also be completed online.
The price, duration availability and various options were all clearly identified. I'm no bofin but completed this in a month and could have probably completed it in a couple of weeks.
After 20 years working on high level projects overseas, coming back to the UK I quickly needed to complete a few exams. I'll be signing up tomorrow for other courses and probably run a few concurrently.

Completed 18th Edition and 2391-52 here. Easy access when needed and practicals at your nearest location. Can’t be any better.

After taking the course, I never logged into the website. Despite not receiving any services, they seized all my course payments just because one year had passed. The seller himself determined the course duration as one year and concealed this within the purchase agreement. To extend the course for another year, he demanded £90 from me. He is a malicious seller. If you don't want to be deceived, stay away.

Now on my 2nd online course with MJ Electrical Training. Truly professional company to deal with, with very quick turn around for the passing certificates. Will be using them again without hesitation.

I've just completed my 18th edition. Simon has been fantastic! Work has meant that I haven't been able to book the course for months even though I had already paid MJ the money. This wasn't a problem, I contacted them 10 days ago about booking the test, they got me in today and the rest is history.
Super reliable company would highly recommend.

This is an excellent course, well worth the money. I sat the home version of the 18th Edition. The course material was well written and the mock exams were especially helpful.

Corresponding with Simon was easy, fast and efficient. The information he delivered about the process of the online invigilation was detailed yet easy to follow, meaning there were no surprises on the day.

I finished up with 98% (1 wrong; I changed my answer!!!) largely due to the excellent course material. Thoroughly recommend.

Simon arranged the test based on my availability and provided all the information required to prepare for and access the remote invigilated exam and then provided the results within the hour of completion.

This is by far the best layout of any course I have done, the amount of detail in every section, and all the quizzes as you go through, the mock exams and all the wee hints and tips makes life so much easier on test day, you have covered the book so much you can answer about 30% of the questions without having to go look for the answer, and also really quick with your results once test complete
