Good app let down by lack of support

I started using moneyhub after money dashboard closed down, I found this gave the best tracking and customisation I required for my finance. Connections across a wide range of accounts and auto sync and tagging.
When the free period ended I was happy to pay for the premium subscription to keep using this. Unfortunately about 1 month after taking out the premium options the app stopped updating and informed me that I only had a basic account. Checking on my google account showed a fully paid moneyhub subscription. Having submitted a support ticket I received an initial email asking for some further information, followed by no updates for the next 2 weeks. Follow up messages did not elicited a response. A holding message stating the issues has been logged and they are investigating would let me know that something is being done. Once I left a poor review on trust pilot I was contact by support first thing the next morning and then received several emails during the day as they were able to identify the root cause and correct it. I'm happy that the issue has been addressed now and I can use the service again, but the quality of a company can be often judged by how they deal with things that have gone wrong. From my experience moneyhub have not excelled in this

We are truly sorry to hear of the delay in response on this issue. Having now investigated and identified that a transfer of subscription between two accounts was causing the issue this has now been resolved and a refund made as a gesture of goodwill.

Frustratingly slow customer support, whole app feels neglected

Shame to see this app going so downhill. Was really impressed when I first started using it given all of the features it offers compared to its competitors. Now as other users mentioned their support is terrible, it has been four days with no response. Also think it lacks a lot in comparison to other apps in terms of notifications and connections are released when they're not quite ready as have to keep manually reconnecting them. Feels like this app isn't going to be around much longer. Have started looking elsewhere.

Good Tool, Lacking with Support (with update)

I’ve been using MoneyHub and really like the tool. It has a nice interface and is fairly simple to use. However, the support is disappointing. I encountered a connection issue and submitted my inquiry via their website chat three days ago. After the standard initial reply, I followed up but was met with complete silence. I then followed up via email and experienced the same lack of response. The tool works well when everything is running smoothly, but the lack of support is a major drawback. I am now considering moving my money management to another provider due to this issue.

Update 1: Following the response from Moneyhub, someone contacted me on Monday to say they would look into it. However, it has gone silent again, so I messaged yesterday to find out the status, but there has been no response. Today is Thursday. I am now looking for an alternative app.

Update 2: MoneyHub has now extended my trial period, this is appreciated, if the connection works, I will likely stay with this app.

Update 3: MoneyHub has now helped me resolve the issue and extended my membership for six months, which I appreciate, I am increasing this from two stars to three stars. They were helpful in the end.

We are sorry to hear this Joe, our customer support team are working as quickly as possible to deal with a high volume of connection queries from providers that do not offer open finance APIs and as such can take some time to diagnose and resolve. These are connections that you won't find in other money management tools but we do understand the frustration caused when providers take time to resolve. I have checked this morning and can see an agent has replied for further information which you have already replied with, thank you.

Highly recommended. Have not found anything to better it.

I think this is an excellent app. Started using it over a year ago and have been very pleased with it. Would like to see them facilitate budgets with customised time periods as opposed to one month at a time. Other than that I find it indispensable and would strongly recommend it to anyone wanting to take control of their spending The insights on spending (not budgets) cover all periods and are excellent.

Fantastic to track spending and insights

No other account aggregation site comes even close (lots have closed/are unviable). Subscription price at time of writing is £14.99 for a year - for having insights into my spending at this price is a total steal.

Functional things which I've found really useful:
- very flexible categorisation of your spending for self-programming so you can go back and analyse what/where you are spending
- addition of pension and investment accounts which can then be tracked

Some minor negatives to be aware of (but doesn't really detract from the 5 stars):
- occasionally connections to accounts can go off and either are restored automatically or need to be manually flagged to the moneyhub team
- dashboard is great but net worth (incorrect fluctuations can't be corrected) and income vs spending graphs could have more functionality (eg have separate subheading and/or more than being able to view six months' data)

Same problem as one of the previous reviews can't reconnect to my bank connection, never had this with the other app I use, bit shame as it's a good app with many features.

Having challenges reconnecting to one of my savings accounts, but attempts to speak to someone from customer service have failed - only recorded messages 😟Waiting to see if I get a response to my email before updating my review- as where I do see my financial details across other assets it’s great.

Meets almost all of my requirements

I still have a small note book where, over 40 years ago, I attempted to keep track of my finances. The world has moved on considerably since then, and become much more complex. Realistically, I haven't been keeping track of my financial position with anything like the frequency I should have.
I tend to keep an eye on the financial press, mostly looking for accounts and card offers with significant inducements to open an account. In so doing I came across several apps and PC based ways of aggregating assets and liabilities, mostly taking advantage of the Open Banking protocols. My main concern was exposing sensitive personal data, so for a couple of years I didn't pursue the matter any further. Then one day I decided to investigate more carefully, and realised that best companies didn't data harvest - indeed they claim they didn't actually have direct access to the data at all.
My investigations suggested that Emma and Moneyhub would probably suit me best, and I downloaded both.
I quickly came to the conclusion that Moneyhub suited my needs better, and cancelled the trial version of Emma before payment was taken at the end of the first week.
From other reviews, it is clear some people have encountered issues setting Moneyhub up. I don't consider myself an IT guru, but so far it has been easy and straight forward. The only issue is I have been asked on a couple of occasions to manually reconnect to my Chase accounts, and this can be done with a single click.
It's great to have a comprehensive overview of one's complete financial situation, and after a couple of weeks use, I find Moneyhub to fully meet my needs and to do so at very little cost. The huge benefit to me of Moneyhub is I can choose to access my account on both my iPhone, and my PC, which runs Windows 10. Being able to see the overview on a large PC screen is really useful.

Problem sending one-time codes but now dealt with

In principle MoneyHub does what I want but setting up certain connections requires the emailing of a One Time Code (OTC) ... but the OTC email never arrives. I can't get the web app to work at all because that requires a OTC email ... which never arrives

As a nit, MoneyHub app documentation states that the app "logs into your bank on your behalf, captures the data from the screen and translates it into data we can add to your MoneyHub". I very much hope that MoneyHub uses the OpenBanking API and does not "screen scrape" in this way!!!

Added 7 Dec 2023:
MoneyHub Customer Support have indeed been in touch with me several times but I am still not receiving emailed OTCs from either mobile or web apps.

Added 21 Dec 2023:
MoneyHub Customer Support got back in touch. The problem with sending one-time codes turned out to be the fact that my email address forwards to a different mail server This shouldn't cause a problem, and doesn't for other companies, but when I changed the email address that MoneyHub knows me by the problem went away. I've updated my rating to indicate that I'm now happy with MoneyHub, even though the problem shouldn't have occurred.

06/11/2023 This is more of a rolling review of the service from coming from Money dashboard classic. I am impressed with the number of financial services you can link to the platform, from pension fund, transfer on PayPal, and international money transfer services, which give the most accurate snapshot of one's finances. Also, the categories have been reasonably accurate with the time needed to categorise transactions. Duplicate transactions do occur a lot . I still need to find a fix for this, hence the -1 star. Other than that, this tool is potent in understanding every aspect of your finances and getting on the right track to budgeting and understanding fluctuations in expenditure.

A good idea that cant be trusted

A good idea, but unreliable, and limited support when things go wrong. I setup bank feeds with banks, unfortunately it imported duplicate transactions from a credit card. Support advised "Sometimes this happens", and said I should delete duplicates. How can I trust transactions have been imported? Then a feed stopped after a few days, support advised to readd the account, and transactions would merge, they didn't. I had 2 mortgage accounts and duplicate transactions. Support advised I should archive one account. I have no faith in the reliability of the product, still needs some work.

10/07/2024: Another experience of less than great Moneyhub support. Background...Moneyhub web app starts to show inaccurate balance on an account. Transactions replicating ok, but balance is plain wrong. 10 days after raising a ticket, I've been asked for the same information twice (even though the information being requested has been provided in the same email trail 6 days previously), been told that "I can't see any open message for you" (not sure what that means, but it sounds like they are loosing things and it doesn't fill me with confidence). Add to all this that I've been passed between 3 support agents. I have asked for a resolution estimate, but have not been provided with one...instead, I was told (their spelling, not mine) "I well add your details to the existing investigation and come back to you when we have an update.". Realising that things will go wrong, an organisation shouldn't be judged on mistakes, but they can be judged on their response when mistakes happen and based upon Moneyhubs response to date, I really couldn't recommend Moneyhub.
10/10/2023: Was in the process of evaluating Moneyhub prior to signing up to a subscription. Created an account, connected external Banks and started to evaluate the functionality. Had a number questions that the support/help material does not address (not complex questions...actually pretty fundamental ones). Dropped the question on the online chat support. Over 2 hours later got an answer...that had no relation to the question that I asked. Not confident that I will be able to evaluate Moneyhub if it takes over 2 hours to provide an irrelevant answer to a simple fundamental question. Will persevere for a bit longer and will update rating if appropriate...current view is that I am unable to evaluate if it's not the tool for me.
11/10/2023: Day 2 with Moneyhub. My experience with Moneyhub Support gets worse. I had yet another simple question for Moneyhub Support... "Why do certain transactions show in the Spending Budgets feature, whilst other transaction of an identical nature do not?". Rather than provide me with any answer, the response was "I will submit a Feature improvement on your behalf for our team to make changes". It feels like I am a non-paid tester rather than a (potential) subscription paying Customer...still not had any valid answers to any questions I have raised.
15/11/2023: Getting better. Whilst there are still some questions that I am trying to get answers for, there are now some sensible answers forthcoming. This is because a much more experienced & senior Support Team member has picked up my support requests. There are still some features that I need Moneyhub support get my head around (Budgeting, Moneyhub treatment of Pending v Cleared transactions, Moneyhub treatment of transactions that are categorised as Transfer) and there are some features that are subject to Moneyhub "Feature Requests" being delivered, but, with these few caveats, Moneyhub is starting to make sense.
19/10/2023: I've had 9 days getting familiar with Moneyhub. It is clear that I have needed this time to become familiar enough with the features to make it work for me...and it does. 2 key realisations for me 1. I now understand how to use the "Transfer" category to exclude transactions from being included in Income and Expenditure calculations. 2. I have worked out how to use the "Project" features to segregate transactions that cannot be segregated (to my requirements) using the "Category" feature. Moneyhub would benefit from some feature enhancements (which you can request...and will get put on their backlog for consideration), however it does what I need it to do accurately & with clarity.

Our support chat isn't a live chat, it is an asynchronous support system with a small team, dealing with all of the support messages from our customers in a mostly chronological way. We aim to reply to all contact within 1 - 2 business days.

Hi Sean, sorry to hear these first impressions. We appreciate the current Forecast feature doesn’t quite do what the planner tool does in MD but we have plans to improve this in the future. Our Regular payments area of the app shows what is expected in terms of bills and other regular spend it detects and along with any set spending budgets we would like to provide this balance projection in the app so it isn’t a manual task for the customer to correlate. In fact, an early form of balance projection for specific accounts is being looked at right now.

A very good app with a couple of issues

I really like the app. Easy to use and intuitive. However I am getting expenditure double counted which makes tracking my expenditure more difficult than it needs to be. I’ve read their explanation of double counting but it really needs to be sorted out before I commit to the app. I would also like it if pending transactions were not included. A good app but just a couple of issues that need sorting.

Service seems to have gone awry

Disappointingly I didn’t get a reminder that my subscription was about to expire. The connections often go out of sync and no PayPal connection either. Worked well for a couple of years but time for a change.

Unstable connections

I had to stop using and deleted the app.

As my per my previous 5* review, I thought I would last for 6 month free subscription but…

…the app became more and more unstable with connections and wasted a lot of my time with error prompts. It’s got to a point that it wasn’t even worth the free ride anymore.

Plus I’ve come to realise this app isn’t very suited for a 4-weekly payment structure which I heavily rely on.

I guess I’m back to the drawing board again.

With the widest range of connections on the market we often have to rely on some providers to keep the connections stable where they don't offer open banking compliant APIs. We continue to push these providers to offer better solutions with a workaround for access rather then offering no access at all for our customers.

4-week pay cycles are on the roadmap and it is something we want to be able to offer in the product soon.
