Nicholas wants to argue with customers

I couldn't even get past the quoting phase, because this guy Nicholas wanted to argue about how great they are. How many awards they've been given. Literally, the guy just wanted to argue with me. I call back and get the same guy. I'm going else where. I don't care what awards you've guys gotten I wanted to quote, and just like you know, usually those awards are bought, they're not earned that's not in the opinion. that's called a research study.

I wouldn't touch them with a 10-foot pole

NVL moved me from the Bay Area to Colorado. They were about 50% more than any other mover quoted me, but I was encouraged by, among other things, their commitment to quality work and prompt resolution of claims. Ha! I grossly overpaid and they refuse to make good on the items they broke or lost.

They delivered +/- 60 boxes to my apartment. Other than setting up the furniture, they did not unpack any boxes. Over the next couple of weeks, I unpacked all 60 boxes. I discovered that a device used with my bed (an Eight Sleep hub) was missing, and they damaged a trophy shelf. I timely submitted a claim. Incredibly, they denied the claim on the grounds that I hadn't identified the issues 'on the delivery papers'. How could I possibly identify that something was lost or damaged when the property was delivered??? Utter nonsense.

My bed frame was also delivered damaged. I showed the move supervisor the damage, and one of his crew tried to fix the problem to no avail. NVL denied the claim as if none of this happened.

The total amount of the loss or damage is around $2,000. I was offered $20.

NVL's strategy is clearly to deny claims at first, hoping the client will give up.

Terrible Terrible Terrible!!

Terrible Terrible Terrible!!! Don't let National Van Lines do an online visual inventory for your move.
After the online process is finished assurances are given that if you need to make any changes to let them know. I did! And received no return email or phone call after my two attempts to contact the inventory scheduler. On moving day, last minute revisions were made but there weren't enough boxes or shipping materials. We were told that we would have to choose what we wanted to keep and what we wanted to leave behind. Never in the many moves I have made, has that ever happened. The scheduler was at fault. I had to leave an antique desk, lots of glasses and other kitchen items, the contents of the
refrigerator because there was no room in the car as it was jam packed with items that were packed that the
mover didn't take, among other things. Will be filing a letter with National to complain and preserve my right to sue.

Very Bad Experience. Do not recommend this company

After my load was picked up, I could not reach anyone to get a delivery date. The movers called me to let me know they were 7 minutes away on the delivery day, so no advanced warning. The load was cross docked (transferred to another truck) and many of our items were disassembled and not packed correctly, so they were damaged. When the truck door was opened at the drop off location, items actually fell out of the truck. I have been working with them for 8 weeks trying to get they refund they promised, only getting a partial refund, despite their promise and phone calls and emails from me every 2-3 days. Every time I called, they said they would get back to me right away, and I always had to follow up again. Very Disappointing and stressful experience. Would not recommend.

Warning - Read before booking and explore other options

Warning, this was an awful experience. The date of the move changed the day-of the move, which caused a ripple in our entire departure causing us to lose booking on hotels and as you can imagine having to shift the entire support on the other side of the move. Then the same exact thing happened the day of delivery, changed at the last minute after calling me to give me a "100% guarantee" of the delivery date and thus I had to make payment immediately while on the road, when that delivery date did not even occur. I was also charged over $1,000 for a shuttle service that was not used and paid $200 for a TV box when the movers simply wrapped it in with no box.

Sister got screwed

Last June, my sister had this company in Erie move her house belongings to storage there in Erie till she found a place to live. Cost was terrible. She paid alot monthly for storage. She found a place in Erie, a week into this month. They delivered her furniture, and discovered her large tv was broken on the corner. When Direct tv did her hook up, the TV didn't work properly. It worked great at her last home. My sister called them about the broke TV. After reviewing the problem....they gave her $30 towards a new TV!!!! Really? She should have also gotten tree months of storage money back, but she didn't. This company sucks.

FANTASTIC MOVE WITH NATIONAL

From the beginning with Sam Meredith the Coordinator to Ed the lead driver to our loading and unloading crews it was an EXCELLENT WELL EXECUTED EXPERIENCE! Sam was on his game through the whole process and made us feel comfortable enough to choose National over other competitors! His follow through was extremely professional and very much appreciated! Our move was from southern Indiana to Dallas Texas!
Ed our driver was amazing and super professional. On time as planned loading and unloading and even saved us money by being able to maneuver his rig into our subdivision saving us a lot of money not having to pay for a shuttle truck!
The loading and unloading crews were quick, efficient and professional!

Poor moving experience

We’ve had good movers and poor movers, and the group we had from National Van Lines was absolutely in the poor camp. They aren’t the worst movers ever (North American Van Lines, you still own that title in my book), but they are in the running for second place. The promises and lies:
“You’ll be the only load on our truck.” “You’re big, so you’ll be the first and only load.” “Only load.” Multiple times said by the driver. A lie each and every time. We were not the only load, the driver went and picked up another. And delivered it before ours (for the second lie). “Guarantee delivery on Monday.” “Promise, we are headed to Iowa first.” “You’ll be the first stop, guarantee.” “We’ll be unloading you Monday, I promise”. Nope. Went to Michigan first, and then finally delivered here on Wednesday. Can’t be on time. More broken promises… “Be there at 8 am to unload.” The truck was only 10 minutes late, but the unloading crew was more than an hour late. Once they arrive, they still spend another half hour in their van, making phone calls, etc., before they open the door of the truck and unload the first item. 8 am unload time, first piece off the truck, 9:30 am. “If we take it apart, we put it back together.” Nope. Another lie. They took our bicycles apart (after we asked them not to), and then unloaded them in pieces, and that was that. No assembly.

Guaranteed price? Not so much. The driver of this truck decided he could not get down our driveway, and so… extra charge (and delay), to rent a U-Haul truck to take things from our house and drive it down an asphalt driveway to the street, about 250’, and load into the big truck. Oddly enough, just 18 months before, another driver from another company was perfectly able to get his exact same size tractor/trailer down our driveway to unload. The difference, apparently, is that if they cannot get to your house to LOAD, you pay for the extra. If they can’t get to your house to unload, THEY pay the extra. So, there’s no incentive for them to try to get close to load, and plenty of incentive to do whatever it takes to get close enough to unload.

The packers were Honestly, just horrible. It was a constant fight to try to get them to listen to us, to do anything right. I know that we aren’t “professional” packers, but I myself have moved almost 20 times in my life, and I learned a thing or ten about the process to know what works, what doesn’t.

Problems with the packers:
Room marked “DO NOT PACK. ALL ITEMS STAY.” We put our suitcases and clothes for the trip in this room, and items for the first few days at the new house. Packers went into the room, took things OUT OF OUR SUITCASES, and packed them.
We marked the towels in the bathroom with “DO NOT PACK”, and they packed them… leaving us no towels for showers after loading day. they failed to pack anything else in the bathroom, leaving that for us to find on our final walk through.
Specifically asked the driver to speak with the loading crew, to NOT turn items upside down. Pointed out that somethings we had packed should NOT be turned upside down. Pointed out that I had a lot of storage cubes with drawers, the drawers full of tiny parts, beads, pieces, craft items, etc., and that if they moved them right side up, all would be fine. Multiple times, I see the loaders grab a cube, lay it on the back, wrap a blanket around it, turn it upside down, roll it, etc.. Six months later in Iowa, I am still sorting things out, and putting screws, bolts, nuts, parts and pieces back into the proper bins again. We have a hand made dollhouse, we specifically asked them to be careful with it, to keep it upright, to NOT turn it upside down, and when I see it in the truck… it’s upside down. Wooden sewing box, full of needles and pins and thread and ribbons, with obvious top (handles and drawers) and bottom (legs/feet) and they lay it on the side, blanket wrap it by rolling it upside down multiple times. It’s a mess.
We had three dogs, and we arranged for my wife or myself to be with the dogs in a closed off porch area all day, so the loaders could work without the dogs bothering them. We asked that the dog beds/blankets be last to be packed, so the dogs would have someplace to relax. My wife, who just had knee surgery, had a rolling office chair there in the porch, so she could sit with them, keep them calm, and keep them from barking at all the activity.

Loader told me “we need that chair, it gets loaded next”, so I told my wife it was time to give up the chair, and she would have to sit on the floor with the dogs for the rest of the load. I pulled the chair out of the room for the loaders, and gave it to the guy. He put it in the middle of the living room, and it stood there for another 3 hours, before they wrapped it and packed it. My wife could have been using that chair, instead of sitting on a floor, for THREE HOURS, but instead, they took her chair from her for no reason.

terrible company

This is by far the worst company for military personnel to use for moving. My belongings were completely ruined during the move, and the company has been nothing but unresponsive and unprofessional. They drag their feet on resolving issues, showing no respect or courtesy for families who rely on their services. Bradley, in particular, has been the most unhelpful and frustrating to deal with. I strongly advise avoiding this company at all costs. Skip on National Claims Services, INC. and National Van Lines - International Division.

Don't buy the insurance if you pack your own items! Damage claim will be rejected.

The scheduling, pick up and delivery of my belongings went well. However, I am disappointed in the insurance. I increased the amount offered, and supposedly had no deductible. Numerous items were broken, and some are irreplaceable. I was sent a detailed form to complete. I spent a couple of hours completing what box, what item, photos, etc. The entire claim was denied because I packed the boxes myself. It certainly would have been nice to know this before I purchased additional insurance, and also wasted time completing a very detailed claim. The insurance was a complete rip-off unless they pack your items for you.

Think twice before using this company

I moved from Missouri to North Carolina. The people who loaded my stuff in Missouri did a great job which is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. Ever since then, it's been a nightmare. I had a driver call me and tell me what day he was going to be dropping of my stuff, well within my contracted window. So I drove down there ready so I would be ready to recieve them. No phone call the day before or of,so I called them only to be told they allowed the wrong driver to pick up my stuff, it was currently in Michigan and would be delivered 8 day outside my contract window. When I called National Van Lines to see what they could do to make it right, they basically told me there is nothing they can do. Did not even attempt to make things right. Would definitely think twice before using this company despite its "A" BBB rating

Do not use this company for your move!

Do not use this company for your move!! Short recap!! Threw my mattress off the 2nd floor porch onto driveway. Lost several items, dozens of items broken or damaged. Took 2 weeks of calling before any contact from claims. As told; submitted photos of damage and even text message sent to delivery crew about damage within an hour . Stated they were not responsible because I did not submit proof despite sending emails, and texts as suggested by the company. They are no longer responding to any outreach by me even though told I had 9 months to submit claims.
DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY THEY ARE A SHAM!!!

Do Not Use This Company!

I used National Van Lines in my cross country move and was beyond dissatisfied with their customer service, the process as a whole, and their willingness to help with problems they created. I signed a contract with a guaranteed delivery window of June 8th-June 22nd, and did not receive my items until July 12th. Furthermore, I contacted the company multiple times while waiting and was given no information and could not get my calls returned until I was able to get in touch with their director of customer service, who also eventually stopped responding. My items were dropped off at a warehouse in Phoenix where I was moving from on June 3rd and were not even picked up to be delivered to South Carolina until the 26th of June, despite the fact that I was guaranteed delivery by the 22nd. Because of the extreme delay I incurred over $700 in additional expenses for hotels, clothes, and other items that I was not aware I would need.
When my items finally did arrive, the driver was extremely rude, refused to help with any assembly even though that was a part of what I paid for. Multiple items were also damaged in the move, about $450 worth of damage. When I filed a claim, as I was directed to do by customer service, they simply said that the damage was not great enough for them to do anything.
While I would like to be compensated in some way for the trouble, the disrespect and poor treatment, and the horrible experience, I do understand that is highly unlikely. However, I want to warn anyone else who might make the mistake of using this company. They are over-priced, and treat their customers reprehensibly.

National Van LInes Long on Promises, Short on Delivery

National Van LInes has excellent sales personnel, who are responsive and efficient -- and make great promises that the company falls way short on. I would give them 1 star. Buyer Beware! Whereas you are promised a high dollar limit on claims, the company refuses to pay claims, despite substantially damaging furniture and leaving labeled items to be moved behind in the place that you moved from. When you file a claim, the claim is denied. When you counter the claim denial, the rationale for denying the claim then changes. I would highly recommend avoiding using this company!

Horrific company

Horrific company. They are a broker and as soon as I signed the contract, stop returning calls or emails. Five days before the move, National Van Lines charged an additional $4,000 for the move. I sent pictures with dimensions of every piece of furniture that was being moved. Two days before the move, I get a call from a different company (Jackson Movers) saying they will be conducting the move. Jackson Movers then charged an additional $3,000 the day they arrived for bogus charges and work they didn't even do. I can't express how horrific National Van Lines is. They should have begun by disclosing that they sold the account and they are just brokers who can care less about their or their contractor's service once you sign on the dotted line.

Move with Confidence!

Recently used National Van Lines for a large Chicago to NJ move and have only positive things to say. They were the first to respond to my online inquiries and were extremely fair priced. Sam Meredith at the Chicago office guided me through the entire process and was very responsive to my (many) questions along the way. Driver Jamie Burns and his crew showed up on time and did a great careful job with the packing, loading and unloading. Highly recommended!

I do not recommend

I do not recommend. We had a terrible experience with this mover. They contract their labor. Packers and movers caused quite a bit of damage. We had the highest levels of carrier liability with $0 deductible and $125,000 maximum level of protection. That's full replacement value protection and the most comprehensive plan available. They were obligated to compensate to repair or restore, but that didn't happen. We also purchased the full service VIP option that included full packing, crating and uncrating, and a $50,000 damage protection policy. All apparently worthless.
Premier Van and Storage was the agent for National Van Lines. National reimbursed us for only 16% of the amount of our claim. And they declined to reply to any of my notes to them. Careless damages, lack of compensation, and lack of communication. I would keep looking if you're searching for a quality mover.

We were told conflicting information…

We were told conflicting information about when Packers and loaders were coming. Were told would pack one day and load the next. Happened all in one day.
Were told there would be 3 packets. 3 people showed up but one walked around the house and quit. I do feel bad for the other 4 people who worked very hard and efficiently. I have no problem with them. But the communication and information from National was very poor and disappointing.
