I have a very bad experience with them…

I have a very bad experience with them applied to NativeCamp, and I strongly believe I was failed intentionally. The evaluator was a Filipino person who showed clear signs of discrimination. I have already submitted a complaint, but no one has responded to me, which is very unprofessional.
Moreover, my account was closed after my second attempt, even though I am supposed to have three attempts available. This is completely unfair and unacceptable.

Throttling students, teacher scams (yes really), no livable income

Been on Native Camp (NC) for several years now; company has not grown, gotten better for teachers/tutors, or improved the compensation for native speakers.

Native Camp is a misnomer: doesn't mean availability of native speakers but rather a "student" has an opportunity to become fluent LIKE a natural English speaker. However, ridiculous since many of the non-native speakers have poor pronunciation, sentence structure skills, and do not take helping "students" seriously.

The per class compensation has not improved over the years even though inflation/cost of living has increased. Making a livable income doesn't exist on NC. The ownership has been emailed directly but isn't listening. Dedication, loyalty, covering many slots is a colossal, COLOSSAL, waste of time, energy, effort, etc. Core teachers at the locations in Cebu, Philippines, and Bulgaria are directed the "lion's share" of students by the IT teams. Additionally, the IT operatives will cancel a student entering an outside the core teacher/tutor "classroom". This was proven by some computer experts who saw the telemetry broken at the source.

Occasionally a "student", who has a favorite teacher, will favor the favorite by going into the "room" of a teacher with a fairly good rating, stay for a few minutes, mumble or rudely manipulate the process, and then tank the rating of the instructor. This pushes the coach further back on the available guide pages making it harder to attract learners.

NC DOES NOT heed teacher/tutor complaints regarding student behavior: money hungry owners reflect that teachers are considered dogs and cannon fodder.

NC's reputation has always been subject to derision, doubt, and denigration: Trustpilot, Facebook, and Glassdoor have many reports of NC's manifest abuse for many, many, years. And again, nothing ever changes.

Recently, NCs push for non-native "discount tutors" has cost them a blow to their reputation: A tutor from the "prince continent" scammed an actual student out of several thousand dollars. Thus the result and reward of pursuing cheaper faces.

A word to the wise should be sufficient.

Tutor Platform Review: Low Traffic and Support Concerns

The platform is user-friendly and organized for both users and tutors. However, the student traffic is very low and inconveniently affects new tutors onboard. The standby time takes longer hours to get a student, while having circumstantial unparticipative students has a huge impact on tutors' progress. The company doesn't guarantee a supportive team for the inquiries of tutors and doesn't support direct investigation of the platform.

This platform may not be the most efficient use of time. They display huge numbers of teachers but only guarantee moderate pay to native speakers. They collect high cuts for non-native speakers, considering the already minimum payout for quality non-native teachers.

Unfair Treatment of Teachers

I have been a teacher with this platform for over four years, and I have twice been ranked among the top 10 five-star teachers, so I speak from experience.

Unfair pay: Teachers are underpaid compared to what is advertised. Initially, I was paid $1.54 per 26-minute class, but this was later reduced to $1.19 per class without any explanation or prior notice.

Unbalanced policies: The platform’s guidelines do not favor teachers. For instance, I once had a student who joined a class while driving. I reminded the student of the policy against taking lessons while driving. The student got upset, ended the class after just 1 minute 32 seconds, and left me a 1-star review. When I reported this to support, they asked me for proof—even though the guidelines clearly forbid teachers from recording lessons or taking screenshots. If the platform cannot enforce its own policies when students are at fault, then what is the purpose of these policies?

Unjust account termination: A few days ago, my account was terminated without warning or explanation. I simply noticed that I could no longer log in. Despite writing to support, I have received no response. This shows a lack of respect for teachers and poor communication.

These are just a few examples of many issues. I strongly advise against relying on this platform if you are considering a full-time ESL teaching career. They can terminate your account at any time without notice and without paying you for your work. How can teachers feel motivated when they fear sudden termination and unpaid wages?

My Advice (if NativeCamp is reading this):

Pay your teachers fairly. $1.19 per 26-minute class is insulting, especially when other non-native teachers are reportedly earning $2.70 for the same duration. If teachers were not capable, you would not have recruited them in the first place.

Treat your teachers with respect. Lessons should be recorded (with proper privacy protections) so that claims can be verified. Students should also be required to give reasons for low ratings, allowing teachers to learn and improve when at fault.

Enforce policies equally for students and teachers. It is unfair to hold only teachers accountable while allowing students to disregard the rules without consequence.

Applying as a teacher

Tried to apply as a teacher, everything was okay until the demo lesson, waited for more than 30min just so a supervisor shows up. Some of the things the supervisor complained about are never mentioned in the instructions, platform glitched when trying to play audio. Finally when I saw the payments from different peoples experiences it just ain't worth it.

This company doesn't consider the eligibility of a prospective teacher,rather there are examiners who intentionally fail you something petty,so examination is intended towards failing an interested candidate.Recruitment is biased to skin colour, and some examiners don't even speak clearly but they are examining candidates..Teacher is just a number ,they don't really have value.

I applied to Native Camp as I have done my research about this company, there are some videos on YouTube that states people who applied finished the English proficiency exam and passed their demo class. I have completed all those with my profile picture and video uploaded and approved however I was not selected.

Please don’t waste your time and energy applying for a company like this.

I worked as a tutor for native camp

I worked as a tutor for native camp. It promises $8-$10 for a 25 minute lesson, however that is only if you get booked. Students on the platform do not book though, they do "spontaneous lessons" which you only get paid $4 per 25 min lesson for. To do a spontaneous lesson you go on "stand-by" and wait for students. I usually wait at least 2 hours before I get assigned a student. If you are waiting you can not move away from your PC as a lesson could start any time without warning.
Some days I will be on stand-by with no students for hours and hours. It is a complete scam.
Also you only get paid once you have made more than $30, and that gets sent to a "payoneer" account, which only lets you withdraw money after you have received $50. Total scam

📢 My Disappointing Experience with Native Camp

I applied to Native Camp with so much excitement to start my journey as an online teacher. After scoring 95% on their English test (yes, 95%!), I was eager to move to the demo lesson phase.

But here’s where it went downhill:
• I tried joining the demo lesson multiple times, sometimes waiting over an hour, but no moderator ever showed up.
• Each time I had to leave and rejoin, hoping for progress. Eventually, I got a message saying I failed, even though I never even got to take the demo lesson!
• To top it off, I contacted their admin team, and this was their response:

“Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you the job. You may reapply in six months. Furthermore, you cannot enter the applicant page anymore. Thank you for understanding.”

No explanation. No constructive feedback. Just a dismissal after I wasted hours of my time.

This was so frustrating and disheartening because I was genuinely excited to join. To anyone considering applying, be prepared for an unprofessional and disappointing process.

WARNING TEACHERS DO NOT JOIN NATIVE CAMP

Now mind you , i probably had 250 different students in a 2 month duration and out of those every teacher is bound to run into 2 - 3 bad apples. This stupid immoral unethical flat out evil company just terminated my account without giving me zero chance to explain my side. Mind you prior to this incident i had hundreds of positive reviews with a overall rating of 4.97 / 5. I can assure you i did absolutely nothing wrong. The same thing the owner does to innocent hard working employees should be done to him put him out of business and let him rot in jail forever. THIS COMPANY IS TRULY EVIL.

They hide you as a teacher and make you…

They hide you as a teacher and make you invisable to students. They require you to go on standby and you can sit the entire day with no classes. They also have such a manipulative rating scale, once they respond to your query, you can not select poor service and submit. you must select average and above then only can you submit. Many teachers like myself are moving onto other platforms now as they are extremely unfair to teachers and allow people who cant even speak English properly rate you on your grammar yet i am native certified professional who has been speaking and teaching English for more than 15 years. Its more like they use you and they put all the Philippino's 1st to get classes. It is really such a under-minding teaching platform and you will want to pull the hair out of your head with their evasive replies when you log a query or they dont even bother reply. You can sit for days on the site and not get a single class

Total spam onboarding

Finished the 'onboarding' then discovered they require a FULL 8-hr block "Demo" with said Admin. Not happening. Regular teaching/subbing is only 30-45 mins. Screams scam. AVOID

I was suspended because a student…

I was suspended because a student complained that I wasn’t at my laptop when a lesson started. The truth is that the NativeCamp website is so poor that it can fail to open quickly when a student logs in for a lesson.

NativeCamp always takes the side of students.

And yes, the payment rate is very low.

I have taken my suspension as a sign that I need to stay well away from NativeCamp.

Worst Company

The worst company that I have ever been working on as a teacher. Lowest expectations and lowest salary that can ever exist. Students book you ,everything works fine until the last 5 min everything crashes and doesn't even open so you can be ready for the lesson, which turns out to be intentiously done from the IT sector. I can call this firm a real scam. I'd never suggest anyone work here. Better if this company closes forever.

A complete and utter scam of a company

A complete and utter scam of a company. They do not include an unbsubscribe button on their emails and after 6 months of me telling them to get me off their list, they simply will not.

It is illegal not to have such a button.

And as you can tell from the other reviews, this company is a total and corrupt scam.

There are so many other English Language sites that respect their students and teachers. This is not one of them.

Stay far far away.

Seriously your service is worst. I enrolled on your website and already on 3rd stage about to start the 4th stage. But opening may dashboard today, you people took me back to the very stage while I have passed the profficiency test.

This company is extremely corrupt.

I'm giving this company a one star I would have given them no stars at all. First of all the website did maintenance during the recruitment stage, thus reducing study time. Secondly they don't give a time limit to how long you can study instead they covertly punishing you by making you automatically fail the interview. Thirdly they lie when they say they will give you a second chance when they see your "potential" but what they don't know is that I'm a teacher with 5 years teaching experience.
Thirdly they will fail you for small things that they don't even teach in the 'learning kit', Like writing your name and the name of the students in the 'Text Box'.
Fourthly they should inform you to purchase proper equipment before the Job application instead of failing you for it.
fifthly everybody has the right to know the reasons why they were rejected. Your company policy needs to change this.
Lasty in the into demo you can see their faces but during the recruitment and interview stage they kept their faces hidden for some weird reason which makes it seem a little dodgy. The Admin is very petty so be careful not to upset they fragile sensibility for rating them with a two star on their website.

I will not recommend anyone to work…

I will not recommend anyone to work there. The students have a habit of being controlling during tutoring sessions.

I reported this to the Administrator, but they sided with the students.

The majority of the students have difficulty in pronouncing words, due to their heavy Japanese's accent.

One student in particular had criticized me on my facial expression stating I should smile more. I explained to this student it is difficult for me to smile and focus on what I am reading at the same time.

This student admitted she is criticizing me and I should not be offended. I smiled at her comment as well as informing her I was not.

This made her mad and I informed her I worked at an university teaching two subject courses to 84 students. She was shocked.

As I explained to the Administrators, Japanese's culture is different from American's culture, which could be misconstrued as an insult to Japanese's people.

After this incident, I had done further research on the company, where other people of color stated the students and the Administrator are biased as well as racist towards people of color.

The pay is lousy and you have to wait on standby for a student to accept you.

No organize very well.

Was wondering if I'm the problem

At the beginning I got a 90% on the test, systems check and I was congratulated for having gotten the job. I later found out I had a Demo Lesson awaiting me, I waited an hour and a couple of minutes before I gave up only to try again the following 2 days. On the 2nd day I waited 40 min then logged off. The 3rd day I was about to give up for good this time when after 55 min I got through only to be told I wasn't ready. I can't recall the given reason behind this. Needless to say, the whole thing lasted less than 2 minutes. Reading all these negative reviews made me want to share my experience about the company that supposedly pays $2 000 a month if not more.
