Stay is far away from this program and this learning experience as you possibly can. The teachers have absolutely no idea what’s going on and are no help at all. On the first day, they had the audacity to fail my kindergarten and first grader for not inputting their assignments correctly when nobody could understand what was actually going on because the feedback and the sound was so terrible. We actually had to log off the video to try and complete their lessons. You can’t get a hold of anybody for hell and if you do, they’re rude as hell. Stay away stay away stay away. Do not waste your time or your patience on something like this. Find a different

Avoid NHA

Do not consider a career with NHA. I naively started my teaching career at NHA and quickly realized how for profit charters take advantage of and target families in low income districts. Special needs students did not receive FAPE, services designated in their IEPs and behavior plans were not followed. Teachers were blamed for administrations and NHA’s failures to hire certified staff and to provide supports for students.

NHA retaliated when I resigned due to their failures to comply with state and federal law (special ed services, title supports, etc.)

Poor onboarding and administration

"Acquisitions" led me on that I was a "superb prime candidate" for a few of their elementary and middle school opening, only to NEVER receive follow-up, despite my email contact persistence going ignored. Had to call THEM, to get runaround that "things were still processing" To 'discover" ON MY OWN that the application site page showed ALL SIX of mine rejected with no reason. Total joke. AVOID

Unqualified administration

This organization is a joke! Teachers are lied to about everything from pay to classroom set ups, unlicensed teachers in special education departments who have NO business working with special needs children, expecting teachers to write 9 weeks of lesson plans at one time, then springing on them at the last minute that they have to share rooms and the list goes on and on. When you try to get a straight answer about a pay discrepancy, it just leads to endless phone call circles. EXTREMELY UNQUALIFIED AND UNPROFESSIONAL ADMINISTRATION!!! NHA should be ashamed of the way they run their schools in the Greensboro/High Point area of North Carolina.

What a horrible company

What a horrible company. I am a former employee and have been trying to get a hold of the service centers payroll department for over 1 week and it doesn’t matter what time of the day I call. No one I mean one answers the phone. That is so unprofessional. I feel bad for whoever still works for them.

by far the worst school ive ever attended. horrible staff and the amount of favoritism shown is unbelievable. i would do my work and get a B but the students that were the teachers "favorites" wouldnt do anything and still get A's. NHA themselves take no accountability for anything and neither do their schools. Horrible company with horrible schools.

Bad bad bad

Bad bad bad. Chandler Woods in MI Class sizes fill to 30+ per class with one teacher. PE is 60 kids: 1 adult. Recess is only once per day through winter months and recess is 250kids: 2-3 staff. Parents are gaslit to cover purposeful understaffing and underspending and kids are made to feel bad about normal behaviors because teachers are overworked. If your kid struggles they must fail to get any personal attention, and once their grade is above fail they get no help until failing again. I pulled one child and am ready to pull the second. If you have any complaint to NHA corporate you are deflected through parent relations. School deflects to NHA and NHA deflects to school. There is no parent power at all unless it is to enable NHA making money off your volunteering and child’s attendance. Surrounding districts spend thousands more per student with many more opportunities, resources and transparency. Do NOT attend an NHA school. Its a scam

I was a student there for 9 years

I was a student there for 9 years, and the abuse was horrific. I didn't realize how bad it was until I left to go to high school and all of the things I expected were unimaginable by my peers. I was absolutely destroyed mentally and emotionally, and their "better academics" actually put me behind my peers. Keep in mind, I was in all of their advanced classes and only got high A's. It's two and a half years later, and I'm still reeling. If you care about your child at all, especially if you're not a white christian, choose a different school. Much of their curriculum is purely unscientific, and their discipline is ludicrously harsh. They also frequently go out of their way to discourage any friendships forming. I could go into much more depth on all the traumas me and my peers endured, but I can sum it all up fairly well in one story. My grandfather had died the previous night, and I started crying in class. I was promptly brought to the principal's office and yelled at for disrupting class, and the two friends I had were given detention for trying to console me. I was 11. In addition, since the teachers were bullies too, they played favorites with them. They would sit by and watch their favorite students pummel the disabled kids, then only step in once the disabled kids fought back.

Westfield Charter Academy /NHA/Failed my daughter

My daughter is in the Kindergarten class at Westfield in Redford and this has been absolutely by far the worst Kindergarten experience ever out of 3 kids my daughter Teacher is just now telling me my daughter is only able to recognize 3 numbers as of may 14th 2021 this is unbelievable!! When were you going to me this because the last time i spoke with her Teacher everything was fine, great now you want to retain her im pissed because when did u realize this ?? She never sent homework home so i just assumed she was doing well in school because no one reached out to me other wise to say different she can't recognize some of her letters like really what is going on and why are you just telling me this in April at the end of the school year ?when I spoke with her Teacher
over a google meeting in March she told me she was doing good and on the right track!! This Teacher and whoever is covering for her needs to be held accountable!! And not my daughter because she has a Teacher who don't have any experience i need answers and help i am not letting this go at all !!!and why is my daughter being tested without any review?? On what she is being tested for and why was i not informed that the teacher was doing a test ? So i could help prepare her And my daughter was just getting back after being gone for a week of school because she had surgery then you test her the week she is just getting back? Why?? A set up for failure and then I ask well can you send a homework packet for her while she is out for the week so it won't affect
her grade she said yes then after she decided she was not going to move her up to first grade i said why don't you send homework home it might have actually helped her out but her response was That's why I have Google classroom up lady really you could have sent homework home but she didn't i need answers and help asap! This is ridiculous and now im force to send her to summer school and teach her myself i don't mind at all teaching my daughter but when i send her to school everyday i expect the Teacher to do something and not fail her!!

not bad

These schools are good when it comes to things not changing, but when something happens it gets a little chaotic. But a lot of the people who say its bad are not as mental advanced as these schools paces at, or not realizing about the stupidity of the world wide pandemic and how chaotic it is to deal with. So I would recommend it to people who can learn at a reasonable pace.

Me and my kids have had the most worst…

Me and my kids have had the most worst experience at one of the NHA schools. I'm really tired of trying to be heard and understood by these unprofessional adults working at Advantage Charter Academy, Baker, La They do not try to solve problems, they try to sweep things under the rug, and act as if your issue with the school doesn't matter. Most of the adults are bullies and manipulate these kids. I do not send my kids to school to be intimidated, bullied or manipulated by no grown adults with no self control. These adults use foul language, when talking to and at the kids. I don't even use profanity when speaking to my kids so no one else should either. I don't teach my kids about personal boundaries, only to send them to a school that will violate them. (Boundaries) I've let things slide with this school, but not this time. I'm tired of these suppose to be adults jumping in my kids face and nothing is being done about it! This not the first incident, but this is what I'm trying to get resolved now. My daughter told Me a lady name Ms.Gorge got in her face and said "MOVE LITTLE GIRL" when my daughter began to move she then begins to push my child and tell her to hurry up she's not moving fast enough. I been trying to handle this situation properly since it happen. The way the school is ignoring the problem puts me at great discomfort wondering what else is going on inside that school. I really feel like they want you to go crazy and act ill mannered for their enjoyment. Some of those adults don't need to be no where around kids!!! The way my son begged me to drop him from that school worries me for the students there. The whole school needs to be under investigation. The principal is a joke!

East Arbor Academy in Ypsilanti MI

(please take into account that I am a high school student and not a parent, so I have a larger understanding of the inner workings of this school) Although I was not fully aware of other NHA schools being terrible, I can speak as a student that this has been one of the worst places to visit in my life, which has only gone downhill from then, the principal has an extremely tight grip on the staff, accomplished simply by making the ones she doesn't like simply hate third job, and keep the ones who agree, it has gotten so and that you could swear almost every position is cursed with the exception of a few. What really drove me to drive this review was some pure idiocy that took place in my last year, my brother's teacher (4th) had to take about 7 more students under her belt, and the principal was refusing to hire a new teacher, it sounded like a madhouse, which it was. While I wanted to take action, I knew I wouldn't get anywhere because as many have pointed out, the principals don't want to communicate with anyone. To finish this up, about 3 months after school got out, I was informed of a rumor that someone in the staff (ironically my favorite teacher) confronted the principal about her choice to have 36 students in a class, she yelled at him to get out with her only defense being that at her old school, she had 36 kids and could handle them all. Her old school district was Detroit, the district with the lowest test grades in the state. And that about sums up the entirety of NHA, destined to be the next Detroit schools.

The gym teacher put his hands on my daughter in rolesville nc. The principal refused to meet with my family about it. She brushed it under like it was nothing. Also my daughter was supposed to be receiving math interventions. She never got them instead she was placed in a remediation group which she did not need. Both the dean and the principal refused to meet with us. I am disgusted with the school and do not trust them with my child or anyone else's.

In dealing with NDSD in Dayton Ohio my children will never attend another NHA school. I would not recommend any of their schools. I have made complaints about the staff at NDSD in Ohio to NHA and none of my concerns have been resolved. The staff at this school is terrible for exception of the main principal, and the secretaries. The teach don't know how to handle students with behavioral problems or IEP. They threaten children with more homework or suspension which they have no authority to do.

Based on recent dealings with NHA …

Based on recent dealings with NHA representatives, and Grand River Academy School Board, it is evident that their mission is not being supported and adhered to; students with special unique needs and behavioral struggles are being put out of their schools
expelled and suspended without proper intervention strategies, adequate services and supports and disenfranchised educationally. The state and federal government mandates our students to receive an appropriate and free public education to include individualized instruction to support the unique needs of our students, for all students to be allowed to reach their full and maximum potential. Students are to benefit from the education experience: socially, academically, mentally etc.. Not be excluded from this. Students need to learn not just at home, but through collaborative efforts from all to include schools and community organitional supports in order for them to be successful in our today's society. This information is not new, but old. There must be equal access to an education not disenfranchisement from receiving an equitable education and discrimination. NHA has disregarded the rights of students who are citizens of the United States. They accept the State and Federal funding that is allocated for each and every student. NHA parents and stakeholder, this is your money and if it's your money; you are the employer. Therefore there is no excuse that our students at NHA are being prohibited from receiving a suitable and equitable education. They solicit us through false promises for the head count dollars and do nothing to fulfill their promise, the expectations of State and disregard federal requirements. Per their responses to many of their stakeholders, they suggest we call them to talk about the concern, well this too is a waste of time. We have reached out to many such as Board of the school, the Board of NHA, and their Chartering authorizer VP(no response); nothing but pure disregard. A class action US Department of education complaint with the Inspector Generals office and office of Civil rights needs to be done if anyone is interested please contact me at 313-452-2329.

Unacceptable experience no response or accountability …

I called National Heritage Academies in March because of issues with Emerson Academy in Dayton. I was told they would look into it and get back. No one ever returned my calls or my emails. Teachers are calling me because my grandchild is talking, not sitting down or listening. I thought teachers are the adults. I had a teacher call me today and when I told her my granddaughter stated three girls were bothering her. The teacher told me she was busy in class. Excuse me, I am at work, she interrupted me. Emerson Academy and National Heritage Academies are terrible. I think my next call will be to the State Board of Education

Riverton Street Charter Zoo

I don't know where to start. Ok this school year has been one of the worst experiences ever. Very unorganized, no one knows what the other is doing all the way up to the board of the school. Teachers vary depending on the teacher but all the greats are leaving because i believe they see the plane going down and fast. Bullying in the school is at an all time high and even when done in front of a dean there is no repercussion for the bully. No one answers the phone, ever i, actually called 30 times in a day and never got an answer. Favoritism is shown to stay at home parents that have time to be in the school all day. It's a complete zoo, they don't know which children leave with who. This is a very bad situation and although at this point I'm being forced to take my daughters out, i would hate to see another child hurt or taken because no one spoke up.
