I would give Mr Chien Wong 10 stars if it were possible. Eye operations are terrifying at the best of times but Mr Wong and his team made the whole thing painless both in terms of the operation itself and all the care around it. The outcome was better than I had dreamed possible, completely pain and trauma free, and I open my eyes every day and smile!

I cannot rate this company high enough
I cannot rate this company high enough. I am in my 60's and needed cataract surgery for both eyes. My optician recommended Mr Allon Barsam at OCL vision and from day one I found the company to be very friendly and informative, extremely patient and professional with amazing care and attention. Mr Allon Barsam's skills knowledge and expertise I think is second to none. I cannot explain what its like to have been wearing glasses for over 60 years since the age of 5 to have Mr Barsam's and his team replace my cataract lenses with new multifocal lenses which has transformed my life. I no longer need glasses and can now see with nearly 20/20 vision for both near and far vision and the world has become a much more enjoyable place. The care from start, through to the procedure that was painless to the follow-up checks and aftercare at OCL was amazing. Thank you so much. Your eyes are one of the most important of your 5 senses. So your choice needs to be best of the best and Allon Barsam and OCL in my humble opinion is the best of the best. I don't ever write reviews but in this case i had to speak up. Thanks again Allon and for those who are reading this review - I wish you the best on your journey.

I had my vitrectomy and cataract…
I had my vitrectomy and cataract operation in July 2025 conducted by Mr Chien Wong and my experience throughout was wonderful. I have recovered with no after effects. There was pressure build up after the operation which Mr Wong resolved quite wonderfully. A truly confident, competent and personable expert in his field.

Still only half-way there. Improved vision not yet apparent. My confidence is high, but my expectations could have been better managed. That said, all interactions with OCL staff have been highly professional and pleasant. So your enquiry has been made too soon after the op.

Great for Keratoconus and cataract surgery
I have been seeing Laura de Benito for Keratoconus and cataracts. She did an amazing job with my cataract surgery. My vision is better than it has been for a very long time. The surgery together with RGP lenses for the keratoconus will give me nearly perfect vision. She is always polite and clearly cares about her patients.

I can see clearly now …
Great care and efficiency shown by the team at OCL Elstree. I have had one eye operated on one week ago and I am delighted that I can see clearly from it. I can drive at night which I couldn’t before due to glare and poor vision.
I’m excited to get my other eye operated on in a few weeks time. I’m in my 70’s. I wasn’t nervous at all. The team put me at ease and the actual procedure was quick.
Highly recommend.

Misleading telephone information
When I enquired about the cost I was told about £6000
It was not explained that this was for the basic NHS type monofocal lens which I was in line to receive anyway.
This is the normal cost for multifocal lenses in other companies [see Times article Jan 20] Not knowing the hyped up OLC vision charges I agreed to pay £270 for the initial consultation .After the measurements were taken my time with Ali Mearza was minimal though this is what I considered I was paying for. I was then informed that my treatment would be £8,700or thereabouts.
I said I would think about it.
Since then another company gave me a free consultation with much better explanation and examples of what my sight could become for the usual charge of £6,100.
