We requested a fully custom heritage tour for my 88-year-old mother-in-law, Nora, tracing her mother's footsteps through 1920s to 1930s Istanbul, and Dilek was the perfect partner for it. Before the tour, she worked closely with me by email to understand what we were hoping to find, researched the historical context herself, and even consulted a colleague who specializes in Armenian heritage tours. That preparation showed from the start.

Dilek picked us up right on time with a spacious, wheelchair-accessible van and narrated everything as we crossed to the Asian side. At the Armenian school, she spoke with the caretaker in Turkish and got us inside a building that's normally closed, where staff pulled out historical photos once they saw Hazel's 1930 graduation certificate. In Moda, she walked us onto the pier, pointed out the islands where Armenian families once kept summer homes, and doubled back so we could photograph a street sign. She also knew exactly which market stall made the best börek, which Nora loved.

The high point was the Üsküdar American Academy, Nora's mother's old school. Security turned us away at first, but Dilek and the paperwork we'd brought changed their minds. An administrator rode in our van so we could photograph the historic administration building, and the principal came out to greet Nora in Armenian and English. It was an incredibly emotional, unexpected gift, made possible because Dilek knew how to advocate for us in the moment.

If you want a custom, deeply personal tour of Istanbul rather than a standard sightseeing route, I can't recommend Dilek enough. She treats a custom request as a project worth researching properly, not just a checklist of stops. This was one of the most meaningful days of our entire trip.

We had several places we wanted to see (Topkapa Palace and its Harem, the Grand Bazarre, and the Bascilica Cistern. We also asked for lunch somewhere recommended by our guide. Not only was Dilek knowledeable, willing to help us find her when Google maps directed us to the wrong block,and flexible if we showed interest in something along the way or had a question on Turkish history. We also visited a beautiful hidden garden cafe! And the Grand Bazaar, which was amazing!

Contratamos al Sr. Cuauhtémoc como guía en Estambul y fue una experiencia excelente. Nos llevó a conocer varias basílicas, incluyendo Santa Sofía, el Gran Bazar y el Bazar de las Especias. Además, nos recomendó dónde comprar alfombras turcas de buena calidad a precios justos, y compartimos con él comida y té tradicional durante el recorrido.

Es muy amable, paciente y tiene un gran conocimiento de la historia de Turquía, lo cual hizo que cada lugar visitado fuera mucho más interesante. Lo recomendamos totalmente para quien busque un guía confiable y conocedor en Estambul.

Estuvimos 7 días en Estambul, 4 de ellos con Cuauhtémoc full time, fue increíble, además de conocer lo imprescindible nos llevó por zonas menos turísticas donde hacen su vida diaria los locales, a comer a lugares deliciosos de todo tipo desde restaurantes con estrella Michelin hasta al mercado de pescados, ahora amamos Estambul y Turquía, queremos conocer más, sin duda lo volveríamos a contratar, es sumamente ameno, sabe todo y puedes conocer de manera más profunda una cultura extraordinaria, gracias por todo, nos contagiaste tu amor por Turquia

Tuvimos una gran experiencia de viaje. Recomendado arduamente si quieres tener una experiencia turística totalmente personalizada y para vivir la ciudad por completo. No solo nos apoyaron en darnos un tour, sino que nos acompañaron a vivir la ciudad, nos recomendaron comida, nos ayudaron con recomendaciones de todo tipo, hoteles, transportes, más experiencias, todo. Más que un tour, es una experiencia completa por el país.

We had a group of Business visitors from Gulf region, and it was great to go around with Orube's Travel Club, especially personally with Dilek.

Dilek was an outstanding tour guide!

Our cruise had a long stop in Istanbul, from Saturday at 2:00 PM until Sunday at 9:00 PM. I contacted Dilek well in advance, and from the very beginning she answered all my questions. We arranged a private tour entirely in Spanish (she also speaks English and Turkish), and everything was perfectly organized.

When the day arrived, she was perfectly on time both days, always kind, attentive, and professional. She answered all of our questions, guided us through the city’s main landmarks, and tailored the tour to the places we wanted to visit.

Our goal was to experience Istanbul like locals, and thanks to Dilek, that’s exactly what we did. She showed us authentic places, shared the city’s fascinating history, and gave us recommendations we never would have found on our own.

We did a 2 day tour with Cuauhtémoc in Istanbul. We were 13 people and it was overall an excellent experience that all the family enjoyed. We visited the most iconic places of the city with a person that knew perfectly the history and the story’s of the city. I highly recommend it

Excellent half day with Dilek. In touch prior to the tour to confirm plans - and highlight some potential logistical challenges around the hotel. Pragmatic and flexible, Dilek ensured we made the most of our half day, seeing a great combination of Istanbul highlights mixed in with valuable local treasures you’d never find by yourself. Very enjoyable and knowledgeable company. Highly recommended.

My family (wife and two small boys under 8) visited Istanbul following a trip to Greece, and had arranged a private guided tour with Dilek to cover: Blue Mosque, Ayia Sofia, and the Basilica Cistern, as well as guiding us on walking tour from our hotel to and between the various sites.

The tour was excellent. The intention was the for the tour to be specifically geared to our two children and I was worried about keeping their attention and making it interesting for them. We had experienced a couple of similar 'kids' tours' in Athens that were disappointing and not really for kids (despite the advertising), but Dilek's tour was a complete contrast: informative, genuinely calibrated to the two boys (she established great rapport with them, especially my eldest, and was very patient), educational (she was teaching and quizzing them!), and very enjoyable. Dilek patiently helped us with photos and was very tolerant and always friendly and helpful.

I can strongly recommend Dilek as a guide for families like ours with small children: you will not be disappointed.
