I came into the shop for the first time ever today (Sunday - Mothers day) with my family. Having followed you on facebook we took the opportunity as we were heading to Colchester zoo to come and see your lovely birds and meet my first ever Hyacinth Macaw. I want to start by explaining that my kids and I are neurodiverse. Autism and ADHD definitely rule our household. Going out for us is tough usually. Different levels of excitement/anxiety and being overwhelmed, if you know, you know. Well what can I say? The kind and caring staff (who were all beyond helpful) and in particular the lovely lady who paid us attention got it and knew. The perfect level of attentiveness, care but also space and understanding was given. She signed with my son, chatted to my daughter and made her feel special. Thanked us for visiting and gave us feathers and stickers (after checking whether my kids would like them or not). She made us feel unbelievably welcome. Without making it obvious or weird she spoke to us like family. This care makes such a heart warming change for us. I will never forget this visit and it was the highlight of my day, yes over the Zoo! A special place and if they treat customers who only planned to come in to look at parrots this well then I am assured that the amount of love they give the birds/animals is immense. We left with an amazing memory, a beautiful feeling, some stunning feathers to remember you by and we purchased a great puzzle toy for our cat and dog. A very heart felt thank you. Xx
