Anyone thinking of travelling to Cala Galdana - Minorca and needing a rental vehicle, then give OwnersCars a visit.
Very good service at the best rates on the island. We had a brand new Opel Mokka for 4 days for 145€ with full comprehensive insurance covering everything, which had we rented through Europcar would of cost us 550€.
Jordi, who runs the office on his own is extremely helpful and doesn't push to give unnecessary extras. By the way they do a fair 'Full to Full' fuel policy.

If i could rate -5 i would. We were staying in Arenal and reserved a car from Owners cars online for 4 days, 31Euro + 25Young Drivers and the fuel policy. I had declined "Extra" body work insurance as it said it was "Fully Comprehensively Insured", Included VAT and Included all local taxes and charges.

When i went to pick up the car from the Hotel Aguamarina, (who have no wrongdoing in this) I showed him the Reservation and he told me that it was not right and doesn't include any insurance and babbled some spanish taxes at me that i would obviously not understand. When i confronted and said their own website said it covered all these things, he said i would need to leave an 800 Euro excess and was telling me this was normal and that "Europcar charge over 1000 Euros as a deposit".

I know this is not true as i work in the motor trade myself and knew i was being barefaced lied to. He then made a phone call to his boss, to which the only Spanish i understood was that "It was too cheap, and they needed to charge more as they are tourists". He didn't seem too happy to be called a con man and threatened to call La Guardia.

It transpires that the Spanish locals are staying at that hotel and i had been inadvertently given a locals rate and not a tourist rip off rate.

Please avoid if you don't like drama.
