I was applying everywhere, getting some interviews, but not landing offers. My mentor helped me identify the right types of companies to focus on and refine my pitch based on my strengths. We spent a surprising amount of time on seemingly basic things like my resume format, but that made a bigger difference than I expected. Their mock interview prep was worth its weight in gold. Pathrise helped me understand the psychology behind the hiring process, and that's what made the difference

As someone who's always been good at their job but terrible at selling themselves, this program was a lifesaver. The mock interviews were tough but so valuable. I went from fumbling through interviews to getting multiple offers. They taught me how to highlight my achievements and negotiate like a pro.

I did pathrise pro for about 6 months. It didn’t result in a job and after my career councilor was replaced 3 times, I requested to be let out of my contract. It was nice talking with people who are in the industry, but their main contribution was having me lie on my resume. But not the standard resume truth stretching, they were telling me to change job titles like “supply chain analyst” to “product manager” or “product marketing analyst” pretty disingenuous if you ask me. This may have worked a couple years ago when tech was booming, but now is a different story. Be warned, they are selling a phantasy.

1) lying on resume: I had 3 career councilors. Absolutely all of them advocated for and basically made me lie on my resume. This came in the form of changing job titles to roles I didn’t have, and also in the form of a key word dump in the objective section of my resume. I typically don’t include an objective section but was urged to include one as they needed to stuff as many key words (skills I don’t have, softwares I’ve never used) in there to fool an ATS system. Lying on the resume was the first step of the program as you are not able to continue until your resume has been cleared with the higher ups. I’m not lying and to suggest I am in pathrise’s response is yet another example of this company’s flawed morals.

2) “Our program is built around using your existing experience + our resources and network” you actually do not have access to anyone’s professional network. I asked every single councilor and “mentor” for a referral, even a recommendation on LinkedIn, but was told no every time.

3) As soon as I wrote my review on trustpilot, I was contacted by the founder of pathrise, Kevin Wu, via email. They are in damage control mode. The whole program relies on their charade not being made public and they are trying to sweet talk me into taking this review down.

Very disingenuous company

I would not recommend Pathrise. My review is based on my experience from a trial. As you are aware you sign an agreement with legal obligation to provide Pathrise with a portion of your salary should you secure a job within one year. Although pricey, I felt this was fair if this was a bespoke program that significantly elevated the job search experience. During the trial, I expressed concerns that as a seasoned professional the viewable material was very remedial. The company profiles and interview guides were sub-par to Glassdoor- a free platform. Take Google for instance, not one mention of the latest release of Gemini, or how Alphabet is divided into multiple practice areas to help a fellow understand the org structure as they research and apply. There is a job search tracker they ask fellows to use. It uses AI, supposedly. It is terrible. It is supposed to scan the job and help match hiring managers so you can follow up after applying. It doesn’t even scrub the company name correctly and that’s in the webdomain. I tried it with FAANG and other large publicly traded companies with issues every time.
I could go on about other disappointments but in general this platform and its services were not worth it to myself as a seasoned professional who was looking at the cap of Pathrise’s payout.
As mentioned I expressed my concerns that upon first glance I did not see value and requested assistance in modifying the program to meet my job search. The program manager withdrew my access and cancelled my trial. When I expressed concern she would copy and paste a blanket statement of how great Pathrise is, see our Trustpilot reviews instead of listening.
Between the poor customer service and the terrible platform and tight legal contact, I say RUN away. There is nothing of value here worth getting locked in a regrettable contract over.

This is possibly the worst trend in job searching ever. Sure, there are resources and coaching but nothing is worth 3-7 percent of your first year salary. This is exactly what employers want. Passing on the cost of hiring candidates is the ultimate insult. I am very sad to this organization exists.

Applied for the SWE track on 3/5/24 and received an almost immediate email that said the following:

"After reviewing your application, we believe you are a high-potential candidate, but with the limited information we had available, we could not get complete clarity on your fit with your industry and the fellowship."

This was after supplying my extensive resume. I was invited to complete a course, a coding challenge, and upload videos. I completed all of it and heard nothing. I reached out a few weeks later and the person who responded essentially sent me the same email requesting I complete the videos again. I informed them this was already done and I uploaded them again just in case. I was told they received them and I would hear back from an "admissions specialist" within 7 days. That was 3/19/24 and a month ago.

There is never an excuse to ghost someone, ESPECIALLY after they completed work for you.

I was with the SWE Pathrise Pro program for 46 days. I really liked the program. After joining Pathrise, I felt like I had people with me to help me. Some of their mentors were really helpful. I was happy with Pathrise, but the end wasn't good, and I am still not sure why it went that way since I was clear about my situation from the beginning.

I told everything to the admission person, Ronaldo Cristobal, before signing the contract. I mentioned that I had my first child right after my graduation, therefore, I took one and a half years off from searching for jobs. I also did not have any prior internship experience, which is also very clear on my resume. I also mentioned to Ronaldo that I am only open to remote jobs. With everything known, Pathrise accepted me as their fellow. They assigned Fed as my career mentor. She was nice to me every time we met. She also helped me to build up my resume. Everything was going smoothly. Then one day I mentioned to my mentor that in my job search plan, it should only have remote jobs instead of hybrid/remote. Then the next day, her manager, Jen Schwechten, contacted me to schedule a meeting with her. I did not like the way she talked to me. She mentioned that it is not possible for Pathrise to find me a job in 12 months. It made me feel like I would not be able to find a job ever. She told me Pathrise would withdraw me from the plan without any penalty. After this meeting, I thought maybe it is because I want only a remote position. I changed my mind to a hybrid position and emailed her that I can also take hybrid. Guess what? It wasn't about the remote/hybrid problem. It is a problem with my experience that I do not have any. It was very clear from the beginning that I do not have experience. My question is, why did it take them 46 days to figure out that they cannot help me with my current situation? After having a meeting with Jen, I was a little bit heartbroken and lost my confidence.
However, that is the experience I had with Pathrise. I did not lose anything except my confidence. I would still say it is a good program, but I was not lucky enough to have a good mentor. My guess is maybe my mentor was not confident enough to help me find a job with my current resume.

Pathrise is as advertised. They don't pull any punches, tell you what you need to hear and are committed in finding you your next job.

I have been a Pathrise fellow since September, 2023. I really value all of the resources I get from this service. The best aspect is the people, who are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. There is no way I would have access to these folks without Pathrise. I am also in love with their pipeline tracking tool and the support I get at every stage of interactions with each job application. Their recent software upgrade is impressive and makes my life so much easier when I'm applying. My only concern is that the fee is not going to be made up by the pay increase I'd like to earn. It is not the fault of Pathrise, though, it is more the fault of this broken job market, which is just brutal these days.

I am new to Pathrise, joined in December but in this short span of time I can see the positive effect it has made to my job search. They provide many services like Resume crafting, weekly coding sessions, mentor sessions etc. Overall it has been a good experience.

I landed a job within a month of joining Pathrise. They provided valuable insight into my resume and my LinkedIn profile. I enjoyed working with everyone, especially Stephen Jarrett. Phenomenal mindset coach! Really helped me see me for who I really am. He was able to quickly get me out of a depressed state of mind and back into the "I CAN find a job and I WILL love a job" mood.

Mentors help with resume and LinkedIn optimization, good sessions for interview prep

The mentors are encouraging and sympathetic to how difficult the job search can be. They provide resources for jobs to apply to weekly.

It was completely stuck with the US job market. I joined Pathrise to switch to a new position. I am very much interested with the procedure Pathrise is following compare to other consultancies. Having conversation with the industrial mentors is a plus point. I am looking forward to have good career with Pathrise.

The various workshops by experienced professionals from reputed companies on navigating the job search process are very beneficial. Additionally, the platform has many helpful and friendly mentors who are well-versed in their field.
