Defenders is not the quality of ADT

High pressure sales tactics… I had a suspicion that this third-party company was not the real ADT but Iwas in a hurry to get installation back in 2020.
Although the system worked OK, which I loved when I was in San Diego, the monitoring was suboptimal… My doorbell camera stopped recording and it has been very frustrating… ADT/Defenders wanted me to purchase/ upgrade to a Google doorbell camera instead of replacing their defective product...
Additionally, when they replaced the battery in one of our keypads, the battery did not fit… Swelled up… And they refused to replace.… (It's no wonder that the good techs keep leaving.)
When I move, I will not be using Defenders/ ADT again... And apparently, customer service did not care when I told that rep that... in response to their attempts to get me to buy a new battery instead of replacing the defective one.

ADT is bad business!

Left a review about ADT and I got a reply to contact with screenshot of my review to an email. Ha! The email doesn't exist. More points against ADT! Unbelievable! Absolutely will not renew contract! Bad business!

This is not ADT

This is not ADT, if you want to get protection for your home. Call actual ADT. ADT knows what they are doing. These guys are terrible. Can't believe I accidentally called them first.

I'd give 0 stars if it were an option.

- Customer support is non-existant. Was transferred 3 times with a 15min hold time on each transfer to get new batteries for a lock. No one was able to resolve the issue and no one was able to confirm how I could resolve it myself
- All customer service people seem to have a window of conversation before they transfer you, was never able to stay on with someone for more then 3 minutes before being transfered to a random department, and the new person was never given the details of the previous conversation so it was a loop of the same conversation endlessly before being transferred again
- Email correspondance was happening simultaneously. Despite paying for the entire service I was informed there are call out fees to assess and to fix problems, despite paying for the service and maintenance of the system. I reviewed the contract and it turns out the indemnity and warranty clauses are solely provided to make sure ADT gets paid regardless of what happens to me, my system, my home or my family. The liability is not shared even slightly and their sole focus is extracting as much money as possible while doing as little customer service as possible
- For anyone who wasn't aware, the contracts have auto-renew clauses, so when your term is up, they will continue billing you forever unless you specifically tell them not to AND do it more than 30 days before a billing cycle, meaning they will take a month or 2 additional from you if you don't cancel more than a month before the end of your contract

Overall, I would be the exact same level of safe with a mechanical deadbolt and a trip wire based on the service they have and continue to provide - or rather not provide. And they are free to increases prices at will after the initial 12 months of the arbitrarily long 3 year agreement regardless of any short comings on their end.

If you have literally any other service available to you, avoid ADT. If I were able to, I would cancel my contract today, but unfortunately that would mean I give them the same amount of money without the bare minimum 'we can call the cops if your alarm goes off for more than 5 minutes in the dead of night' service.

Great team

Darryl Bailey and Breland Johnson were awesome! I have never had sales people with so much enthusiasm. They explained everything from install to payment and billing. Kaden, the tech came out the next morning for the install. With all of the commotion from the kids (day care), he did an excellent job.

My experience with ADT has been…

My experience with ADT has been horrible every representative I spoke with has been horrible. Many times siting on the phone with ADT FOR HOURS WITH NO FIX as soon as my contract is over I am leaving

Not feeling them

Not feeling them, especially since I found out they are a subsidiary of ADT. I thought they were all under one umbrella. I don't trust third-party companies like this. My installation fee was $1800 and they just took my last installment. But because they are a third-party, ADT did not see this charge on my account, so the whole time, I'm thinking this is fraud. ADT should be able to see ALL charges made, even by subsidiary companies!
I'm calling Capital One to block PYH from my accessing my card now that my installation fee is paid. I hate companies like this.

TYCO-ADT ALARMAS RECLAMACIÓN

Contraté en la tienda Orange una alarma que comercializaban con instalación gratuita y un descuento de 10€/mes en cada alarma. La prestadora del servicio era TYCO que después paso a ser ADT. A los meses me informa Orange que dejan de facturar el servicio y pasa a facturarlo TYCO ADT porque han roto relaciones. A partir de ahi dejan de aplicarme los descuentos. Reclamo y ADT me dice que esos descuentos eran de Orange y que en el contrato firmado con ellos el importe es el total sin descuentos, finalmente y después de mas de un año y medio pagando, aburrido de que no me hagan caso cancelo las alarmas por incumplimiento de la oferta. Me dicen que escriba a un mail para devolver los equipos, Escribo dando los detalles que los esuipos están a sus disposición en las deirecciones de las oficinas y me responden "Debe realizar usted la devolución de los equipos según las condiciones del contrato. En breve recibirá unos emails con las instrucciones para que pueda hacer la devolución de los equipo." Hasta hoy. Nunca más dijeron nada. He llamado a ADT y un señorita me dijo que pasaba nota al dpto correspondiente. Pero nada que no recogen la alarma ni dicen donde entregarla. La sorpresa viene ahora que me llaman sin parar de la empresa CODEACTIVOS reclamando 1200€. 500€ por cada equipo, 60€ por penalización en cada alarma y la última factura que fue devuelta porque cobraron el mes entero y se canceló con un mes de antelación y ellos dicen que las cancelaciones son dos meses antes. Los de Codeactivos ni hablan, mensajes grabados de un ordenador, en ADT me dicen que todo eso viene en el contrato y tengo que pagar. Pero no dicen como devolver los equipos. Y aparte no estoy de acuerdo con pagar la cancelación cuando ellos incumplieron el contrato. Pero es que ADT nunca me llamó para decirme que tenía que pagar eso, ni lo pasaron a cobro, ni enviaron la factura. Directo a Codeactivos. De vergüenza! Espero que solucionen el tema porque es la primera vez en mi vida que me llaman de una empresa de cobros, y por la mala gestión y cero comunicación de ADT ALARMAS

Kaitlin and another colleague came to my door, rang my doorbell, knocked on my door, and left her business card at my door when I have TWO no soliciting signs clearly posted at my home. Unprofessional and disrespectful.

BAD "Protect your things" LIM claim Handlers

BAD BAD, ROTTEN to the core.You sign up with "Protect your things" is actually LIM claims handlers. Bad Bad Bad. They right royally rip people off. My portfolio is large so I have been very badly ripped off. I will take legal action, and let Watchdog know my findings if they return every penny they took from me asap

Refund was not processed, insulting sales tactic

When I called in to cancel my appointment, I was given a "confirmation code" and an estimate of when the refund will be processed. 2 weeks pass by. Nothing. I called in again only to find out that my refund was not even put into their billing system. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks in the hopes that my refund will be processed.

Their lead sales guy used BS reasons to make the point that I "needed" to upgrade my security system to the new set that ADT has. My home is pre-wired for security and it can work with newer security systems. I gave them a chance to come over because I've had a wonderful experience with ADT before.

I hope ADT picks a better authorized dealer to work with in the future.

Heed the warning, do not use Protect Your Home!

Hopefully this will save at least one person from the headache we've dealt with. During construction of our home we were forced to rent and needed to obtain security monitoring on a temporary basis. We explicitly conveyed this to the sales rep who claimed we could cancel at any time. While signing the contract on an Ipad, he glossed over each signature with a quick explanation, never mentioning a penalty for cancelling prior to 3 years. We knew going into this that is was short term and after receiving a confirmation from ADT that there was no longer a balance, we were shocked to receive a letter from a collections agency. Firstly, we were unaware that there was a 3rd party involved as we thought we dealt with ADT directly. Additionally, the service costed nearly 3X what I currently pay for a fraction of the service. Long story short, PLEASE make sure that you are not going through Protect Your Home so that you do not endure the pain we did.
