Disappointed as they were offering bonus frequent flyer points in addition to 1 per $1 spent to transfer AUD to foreign currency through airwallex.

Took what seemed like ages for the money to arrive and then when the moment came to setup the transfer for business purposes I could not believe how poor the rate was (1.5% below XE and TORFX) so it became a waste of time as the cost far outweighed the benefits of the frequent flyer points. Now waiting again for the money to come back to my original account (the 0-1 days quoted is definitely not factual)

Not surprised to see all these negative reviews and actually detrimental to the Qantas brand which tends to be positive.

So many Hidden conditions on the bonus

Hidden conditions on the bonus, and a 3.5% fee they don't tell you about, avoid.
I signed up for the Qantas Money Platinum specifically to earn points on business spend. It's been the worst card I've held, and I'd tell anyone considering it to look elsewhere.
The sign-up bonus is a trap. The advertised requirement was $5,000 in eligible spend within 90 days. I deliberately overshot at roughly $5,130 to leave a buffer. Qantas then deemed a portion of my transactions ineligible, recalculated my spend at $4,913, and denied the bonus entirely. The definition of "eligible" is buried in terms that are nowhere near the offer you actually see when you apply.
The foreign transaction fee is the sneakiest part. I run significant Meta ad spend, billed in AUD, in Australia. Qantas still applies a 3.5% international fee on every one of those charges because the merchant entity isn't Australian. At my volume that fee alone dwarfs any points I could ever earn. No card I've used has stung me like this on AUD-denominated transactions, and nothing in the marketing prepares you for it.
Support offered nothing. I asked for a short extension on the 90-day window given how unclear the eligibility rules were - not a refund, not an exception, just consideration. Responses were slow, generic, and ultimately dismissive. No goodwill, no explanation, no interest in retaining a customer spending five figures a month.
Add a $349+ annual fee to that and the value proposition is negative. I genuinely liked Qantas before this. Now I won't be using them for anything.

No Good

zero or negative would be more accurate, pack of charlatans and basically should be permanently booted into touch...

have used their card successfully up until, for some spurious reason, it became unusable...

all attempts by me to resolve have ended up hitting higher brick walls, very disappointing customer service...

not recommended, avoid at all costs, Qantas Pay is a misnomer it should be Qantas Does Not Pay...

and, more surprisingly it seems it's a common enough scam...

Can’t access money, can’t access customer support, can’t use the app.

I had some money left on my Qantas Pay card from a few years ago. I went to transfer the money off the card and got error messages online and on the app. I called the call centre and was told that there was a problem accessing my money, but they would escalate to the appropriate team and transfer the money within 48 hours.

This did not happen. It took more than a month and multiple calls, and me completing a manual form to get access to my own money. Each time I called I had to start from scratch and would be promised a call back or “it will be resolved in 48 hours” only to be completely ghosted.

It’s only when I said the magic words “I will be raising an AFCA complaint” that I was finally called back within 24 hours. And after that call back, by someone who promised they would resolve it, I was again ghosted. They did transfer out the money, but would not confirm that they had, and went back to ghosting me again (for various technical problems with their app, because the transaction was not named anything like “Qantas Pay”, and because they couldn’t tell me how much I’d get after the exchange rates I couldn’t confirm this myself).

On top of this, I was sent a new card which couldn’t be activated in the app (got stuck in an endless loop), tried to call to resolve and the phone line kept either hanging up or not being able to detect keypad inputs (enter your pin, enter your card number etc), and when I finally got through and said I wanted to close my account, I was told “you can only close your account via email (which had to be sent to an address that doesn’t appear on their website), and wait for written confirmation that we have agreed to close it.

What an absolute headache it is to deal with, for no conceivable benefit.

QANTAS MONEY - THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PLANET!

I felt that I should share my terrible experience with Qantas money - they treated me appallingly!

I recently applied for a credit card and whilst completing the application was understandably asked to submit either copies of payslips or bank statements to prove my salary submission. It also clearly said not to submit personal details such as tax file numbers, etc. At the time I was away in the outback of Australia with at times barely an internet connection / phone signal. I therefore used my initiative by copy and pasting (without any personal information) bank details from two different banks clearly showing 3 weeks worth of my salary for my 2 jobs.

Then I began receiving endless phone calls, SMSs and emails from Manilla telling me that I needed to send them PDF copies of all documents already submitted. I may be female but am not totally stupid! No way was I sending PDFs of documents containing bank details / tax file number, etc. etc. I had no way of deleting or printing the information, whilst I was away, but the Qantas Money team could not understand what I was saying and continued to endlessly harass me, to the extent where I was left with no option but to raise a complaint to Qantas Money Credit Cards, which was not even responded to correctly!!!! They completely ignored the fact that the complaint was to do with harassment and based the complaint on the rejection of my application - I TOTALLY REST MY CASE! THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THAT I WAS SENDING THEM 'BY EMAIL TO MANILLA' COPIES OF MY PERSONAL DETAILS CONTAINING DATA THAT THEY DID NOT LEGALLY REQUIRE - THERE WAS NO NEED FOR ME TO SHARE MY BANK DETAILS / TAX FILE NO. ETC - THESE PEOPLE ARE BREAKING THE LAW BY INSISTENTLY REQUESTING THIS INFORMATION!

I am therefore left with no option but to take this matter further to AFCA and OAIC as well as spreading the word on social media (from where I have read some most interesting comments regarding the Qantas outsourced centres, particularly that they do not understand potential customers and simply reject their applications, such as mine.

I have repeatedly requested recordings / transcripts of each and every call I made to / received from Qantas Money as well as a physical copy of the credit report that was run for me - under the data protection laws in Australia, I am fully entitled to receive this information but they simply ignore me. Last Friday I was told the following by Alec Rickard, Head of Qantas Money (allegedly!):

"Dear Emma

Thank you for copying me on your email. I appreciate that this experience has been extremely difficult, and I understand your frustration.

I have asked my team to investigate this matter further with the bank, and address your requests. This will take some time, and given the weekend, it will not be resolved before close of business today.

I will reach out to you with an update by COB Tuesday.

Thank you for your understanding as we work through this matter.

Kind regards,
Alec

Alec Rickard
Head of Qantas Money" .......... but you guessed it, I've not heard a word from anyone and still haven't received the paperwork or call recordings!

Please please please stay away from this dreadful company, all they are doing is exasperating potential customers, who will in turn spread the word and tell hundreds of 'non' potential customers, thus damaging the Qantas brand - they disgust me!

I have since applied to Virgin Money and should receive the credit card within the next few weeks - No Manilla outsourcing for them!

Liars and deceptive cheats.
Signed up to a Qantas Platinum credit card based on the "advertised" benefit of Qantas lounge passes, booked eligible flights, and then went to book lounge passes at OOL only to find out that OOL is 'EXCLUDED' as are a number of other major airports! Complaint to Qantas Customer Service fell on deaf ears with response basically "too bad so sad". Will be getting rid of this ASAP as it is definitely not worth it without the longe passes. Extremely disappointed in this dodgy airline.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE

My Qantas Pay / Qantas Money card was compromised after I updated my personal details.
I completed a claim form and was told two months later that it was MY fault. Funny that..the card was used in Italy but they called my Australian phone to tell me there was suspicious activity on my card.
They investigated and said I authorised the payment, which I OBVIOUSLY didn't!
I asked three times for a explanation and got a generic response each time. NEVER use this travel card. I was told by my bank that because it isn't a credit card, they won’t investigate fraudulent activity adequately, because it’s not a credit card.
The call centre is in SE Asia. It's an internal scam through Qantas Money..nothing more..nothing less.

What a joke

What a joke - applied for Qantas credit card and offshore call centre has recieved 11 documents they have requested including personal tax returns, trust tax returns, trust deeds, bank account statements and 6 phone calls and a month later still no approval or decline. Documents show $m of annual income and can't get a credit card from these guys. Absolutely comical - don't put yourself through it!

They only notify a customer after a payment is due - Never Before!!! What is hard about a little SMS Reminder - Then they will ring YOU from OS demanding payment for as little as $38!! The whole management needs a swift kick up the bum!

Not able to access funds

Not able to access funds

Terrible experience with Qantas pay. My card got put on hold. I was not told it was on hold I only found out when I could not use it. I called customer service every day for a week. Momentarily I was able to use it. Then it was declined again. In the end I transferred my fund back into my bank just so I had access to my own money. The while experience cost me money in international fees because I had to resort to use of my debit card and loss through exchange rates
Appalling customer service

We had the platinum credit card and the process is quite easy to set up, once you have the credit card it works like most others, the only reason for the 2 stars is the PENDING TIME... it is beyond frustrating that it takes days for a transaction to clear in the account and for payments to get put in. I thought that was normal for a credit card but after speaking to friends and family other credit card providers clear instantly, so we cancelled our card. Was good to earn the points although not missing the credit card now.

Do not use

My Qantas Pay/Qantas Money card was compromised when I was overseas with money charged by ?Booking.com for unknown hotels (as per the Qantas Pay transaction history). I spoke to both Qantas Pay and Booking.com and even though Booking.com agreed there was no record of these charges on their site, and they believed it may have been an internal scam through either Qantas or themselves. Qantas however took it further and stated I was being fraudulent because they used an algorithm that found they trusted Booking.com over myself. They didn’t investigate, I had all the statements and proof, and I wasn’t even in the country the hotels were booked in (which didn’t even have the hotel names listed on the Qantas Pay statement), however it made no difference and I had to pay back $700 for the money Qantas Pay had originally had returned. NEVER use this travel card. I was told by a friend in the industry that because it wasn’t a credit card, they won’t investigate fraudulent activity adequately, because it’s not a credit card. Do not trust this travel card.

they stole my money

it has taken 5 years and countless phone calls to have my address changed so i can recieve a new card. meanwhile my cash has been tied up with then and unobtainable with out a new card as the CVV is required for online transactions. this has lead to no control over my money and losing value quickly. finally got a new card and attempted to cash out asap. they sent the money to the wrong account, after several attempts to correct this and again countless phone calls I am told it is my banks issue as they claim the funds were successfully transferred. yet when i call the bank they have no record of receiving any funds. check back with Qantas pay and they just repeat the same message saying there is nothing they can do and the funds are no longer there. their incompetence has cost me money, they have basically stolen it with out any course of action for myself. after having similar bad experiences with Qantas credit cards i can not urge anyone strongly enough to stay away from qantas at all costs.

Great way to go Qantas Pay!

I love Qantas Pay, particularly the feature that allows me to have a summary of all my accounts in one place. However, some financial institutions are very glitchy and won’t let me log in.
The travel money card is great for travelling and I’ve been using it for over ten years now when travelling overseas. It is a shame that I am unable to add it to my Apple pay as that would make things so much easier. Who today has a plastic card they pay with? Overall great product with some improvements to be made.

QANTAS MONEY'S highway robbery

I have a QANTAS Premier Everyday crecit card and i have had no issues or complaints until i just received notification that my annual fee will DOUBLE from $49 a year to $99 a year with absolutely no additional benefits!!!! That's exploitation!!!

When i called i received the typically useless response (albeit from a customer service rep and so not her fault). You can't blame a 100% increase on inflation, Ukraine, covid or gaza!
