Best Storage Outfit

I have had a unit with Surestore Peterborough for a couple of years now. Having previously used many other big brand Storage facilities in the past i can honestly say that no-one does storage like these guys. Facilities are always clean and tidy. Everything is well maintained. Pricing is very competitive. The staff especially Andy are always willing to go above and beyond.

Every time I’ve dealt with this company…

Every time I’ve dealt with this company I’ve had nothing but excellent service. My recent interaction was with a lovely lady called Rita and she was superb. Friendly, helpful and a breath of fresh air. Would totally recommend using this company. All of the staff are always helpful.

Not recommended for students

Reserved a room for Nottingham branch, got contacted saying my reservation was due to expire the next day and I called in the morning to enquire. Their check in system forces you to use their own insurance at a very steep price and does not automate any method of adding third party insurance, which I understand since it needs to be checked etc.
However I don't really like how Rita spoke to me on the phone. Stuff she said was very misleading and she told me that she would give me a call back in the morning, but never did, so I called back in the afternoon and she told me the reservation had expired but a room was available to book a week in advance of when I needed it?... I said that would be fine because I only needed storage for 3 weeks and she said to send the insurance details to her and she'll get it booked for me. Then I spoke to her colleague Declan who was a lot more professional, and while he was inputting my insurance details to finish the booking, Rita was in the background offering it to another customer... And then Declan told me there was an error in the system, but it was just because the room wasn't available anymore since his colleague just booked it off to another customer! Wasted paying money for the insurance and Rita was telling me that that's my issue, what a funny and inconsiderate thing to say. Very unprofessional activity and just seemed complicated for a student trying to get a storage unit for the first time.
Note: You have no idea how long your reservation is held for, they just make up dates as they go. You would think it is 7 days but I reserved it last Friday and it expired Thursday? The initial email didn't even say anything about it expiring, very confusing...

Hard work since being taken over...

Edited to a more positivestar rating: Thank you to Rita who finally sorting out the issue quickly and professionally and for being available out of hours when another issue arose. Hopefully by the time I need to access my unit in a couple of months, any wrinkles will have been ironed out.

I have had two units at the Wigan facility over several years, housing my personal effects while I am overseas. I have always paid annually in advance for the units and have enjoyed a smooth and issue free professional customer service. That is, until recently when Quick Store suddenly took over from the previous owners. As I am overseas, my preferred communication is via email which had always been friendly and proactive. Now, responses are cold, erratic and bordering on the condescending. I have tried to get an invoice to pay by bank transfer for the upcoming year, but I either have to pay monthly, either over the phone (from the Middle East) or use their online payment system which is showing an outstanding balance of zero despite me having an invoice for one month, and one for a few days. The online system does not work correctly on the mobile. Two recent messages for help have gone unanswered. I am fully expecting to be slapped with a late payment charge, hence this review now, hoping that they get their act together.

Ok but...

I found Quick self storage relatively convienent to book once we visited the site. However online process is not the best as you cannot see prices until you give contact details and had to do this every time even though i booked a unit. Also the set up is reliant on setting up online and the sytem did not work on my mobile so had to do it from home which delayed booking. The opening hours are not practical for people working during the day so could have 1-2 later opening hours a week to support flexibilty to access the unit. The units were clean and worked for what we needed. However the Toilets were not clean I only used them to wash my hands and they were grim. It would be nice if they were cleaned and working. Overall, I would use the storage again if needed as generally this was fine for us and convinient once set up. I found the staff working on site to be very helpful.

Not a good experience for me!!!

This is a message for those who are considering using this company.

I had a unit C26 at Wigan which I occupied prior to Quick Self Storage taking over. I was specifically advised by the previous company that, if I moved out mid month, I would be provided with a refund.

Quick Self Storage then took over the unit and confirmed they would comply with previous agreements.

I stayed in the unit until the 14th April this year and spoke to Andy at Quick Self Storage to confirm that I had moved out. He confirmed that he would inspect the premises after easter and process the refund.

To my surprise, some two weeks later, I then received another invoice on 1st May, for £122, and had an unauthorised payment of £122 taken from my account. This was refunded later that day however not before causing me some financial embarrassment.

I then spoke to Andy again and he confirmed that he would process a refund of £52.17 to my account. That was 10 days ago.

I then received a call from Rita Johal this afternoon who has now told me that they do not process refunds - to which I responded by saying Andy has already confirmed the refund.

I share this information so that you, the public, can make your own minds up as to whether this is a company you wish to work with or as to whether it maybe a company that causes unnecessary issues.

I wanted to consider you, however, if you can't even show prices without me giving you my personal & contact details so that you can bombard me with offers for the upcoming 13.5 years, you just lost a potential customer, what a shame. What a courage, not even show prices if there isn't anything in exchange for that, tells me everything I need to know about your business.

TERRIBLE

I just had the worst customer service I've ever experienced courtesy of this business. My payments never went through automatically because apparently I have to set that up. No one told me that I needed to set this up separately. Gave my card details over to set up a regular payments. Woman on the phone took a large payment straight away without telling me. I didn't mind paying what I owed but you can't just take a payment without any notice like that. Got a late fee after receiving one reminder that went to my Spam. No chance of refunding this as a gesture of goodwill. Manager from Liverpool called me back. Kept talking over me didn't even listen to what I had to say. Wouldn't even apologise for taking the payment without permission because 'if you give your card details you're accepting us taking a payment'. The whole system is archaic and ridiculous. Will never use this company again and advise anyone looking for storage to look somewhere else

This has to be the worst self storage…

This has to be the worst self storage company ever. Since taking over from the current owners, without any ones acknowledgement, it has become unbearable!! They say they have emailed the changes, but no emails never arrived! They dictate when you should pay and change the opening times. To add insult to injury they have now added on an extra fee for insurance. They asked for your bank details, fail to set up a (direct debit or standing order) and take out any amount without consent!!
