Lost Faith and Funds: A Terrible Experience with Star Wars Celebration Japan
As a dedicated fan who has attended three previous Celebrations, I was greatly looking forward to this event. Unfortunately, a significant and unforeseen medical emergency requiring surgery occurred just weeks before the event. Due to the substantial medical expenses and necessary recovery time for both myself and my family, we were forced to make the difficult decision not to attend.
In the past, for previous Star Wars Celebrations, there was always a clear option within the official app to resell unwanted tickets. This flexibility was a significant factor in our initial purchase, as life circumstances can unexpectedly change. I waited diligently for instructions on how to resell our tickets through the app for this event, but no such option or guidance was ever provided.
While I understand that the initial ticket purchase may have stated "non-refundable," the lack of a resale option within the app, especially considering its availability in previous years, feels incredibly unfair.
On the 19/04, I sent a detailed email explaining my situation and requesting a refund due to these exceptional circumstances. I was informed that my case would be passed on to the "Team" for review. It has now been almost a month, and I have yet to receive any response or resolution.
Losing £500 for an event we were physically and financially unable to attend due to a genuine emergency is a significant financial blow and has placed my family in a difficult position.
This entire experience has been deeply disappointing and has severely tarnished my perception of the Star Wars Celebration organization. The lack of support and communication in this situation has made me seriously reconsider attending any future events.
