Requested refund for services therapist cancelled, was given “free week with her”

Caution-signed up last month. Therapist kept cancelling on us. Asked for a refund for services never used (not for apts we used).

2/4 appoints were cancelled and 1/2 she did make she was late. Wasn’t a good experience.

Was “given” a free week and can’t get any further info on a refund. I don’t want a free week for a therapist to cancel it. I want a therapist who is reliable.

So now have to take the time to deal with the CC and have them handle it on top of already spending hours trying to resolve it with regain. Pain of a company for customer service. And it is horrible on my mental health.

Update: 2 days later was offered a refund and apology. Refund was received. Huge hassle to get.

We're truly sorry for the session cancellations you experienced with your therapist, as well as for any disappointment with our Member Success team's attempt at resolving your concern. We typically try to provide membership extensions to allow for time to 'make up' missed/cancelled sessions, but refunds for unused time can typically be provided after cancellation, if you're not looking to continue.

In any case, I'm happy to hear that the request has since been handled, and please know we'll use this as an opportunity to explore improvements with our communications!

Regain/Betterhelp both great

I started with Betterhelp. My therapist suggested Regain because of Regain's marriage centered therapy. In just a few sessions my husband and I are nicer to each other. With any therapy being honest and admitting fault will be better than pointing fingers at each other. It's hard. Our therapist showed us how to see situations from the root cause. That is their job. That is their training. Not as expensive as a Google search says. And the convenience to do anywhere is great. Online meetings is a platform I have not needed or used. I resisted. Seemed impersonal. At the end of each session I am a better person.

Borderline fraud

Struggling a lot at the moment, got in touch with Regain in order to get better. They didn't consider the time zone difference when making appointment so I never had my consultation. When asking about refund, they ghosted me. Never got the money, but an increase in anxiety and stress due to them. Highly not recommended.

We were looking for a marriage therapist

We were looking for a marriage therapist. It was very easy to get assigned to a therapist that fit our needs. We have been seeing our marriage therapist for several months now, and our experience has been incredibly positive. One of her standout qualities is her exceptional communication skills. She creates a safe and open environment where both my husband and I feel comfortable sharing our thoughts and feelings.

Disappointing and discouraging…

Disappointing and discouraging experience. My fiancé and I were matched with a therapist, and the first session went well. However, for our second session, the therapist never showed up and hasn’t responded since.

While the Regain team member I spoke with was understanding, there was no real solution. I asked to be matched with another therapist, but was told there were none available — leaving us the choice to either wait for the unresponsive therapist or cancel.

I ended up canceling. Now we’re back to square one without a therapist and out money we had to carefully budget for.

Our couples therapy session was a joke

Our couples therapy session was a joke. We went there for a specific issue, which was completely glossed over and never discussed. The therapist told my husband to send his mother a Mother’s Day card when she heard he had been no contact with her for 20 years without ever asking him what caused the issues. Then, we heard someone laugh off camera when she said something comical which made me feel like someone else could hear our very personal conversation. I paid for 4 sessions and didn’t even bother coming back for the other three. Therapists need to be more thoroughly vetted. Would not recommend this service to anyone ever.

Was invited to use the service by my…

Was invited to use the service by my spouse. We haven't used the service not for one session but got a nasty surprised that both of us were charged for nothing. That's £360 pounds a month! Thankfully it was on credit card and were able to claim some of it back. What a scam though. Avoid.

Thanks for reply Regain. I have requested a refund but only got partial refund and no the wording isn't clear that you'd be charging £180 a month without your services being used. It's a legalized scam.

We try to make it very clear on the payment page that you're agreeing to a membership with ongoing payments for access to the therapist, as well as all other platform features until you cancel. The access to therapy should be far greater through our platform than with in-person treatment, and we make canceling the membership very easy.

Extortionate pricing

Signed up and paid £260, for that we had 2 sessions before another attempt to bill us £260 was made!

This is extortionate pricing so we cancelled it. I was trying to find the payment terms retrospectively but haven’t been able to find them.

We try to make it very clear on payment page where you select your plan that you're agreeing to ongoing membership renewals and payments every 4 weeks until you cancel. Perpetuating Subscription I was not aware of

Nothing to do with the service. The payment terms were not clear and I thought I had cancelled but it had not registered. Either way I have paid a huge amount of money for very little counselling. Classic online service that relies on unclear terms and subscription fees to desperate people when they need help the most, providing as little as possible. I am happy to remove this review if you refund my money for the service that you have not provided.

Don't waste your time

The entire reason we chose this relationship counseling service was to schedule therapy while I was at work and out toddler was napping. The service advertised 3 way calling and split location counseling. After 30 minutes of struggle, we never got to talk to the therapist and wasted our time and money. 0 stars should be an option for this scam.

Was in a terrible headspace due to an issue in our relationship. I'd seen betterhelp in YouTube ads and decided to give them a go as they are supposedly a low cost service. In going to their website, I was redirected to regain their couples service. I paid 75 euro, and booked a session two+ weeks in advance due to the counsellors availability. In my bad headspace, I didn't realise it was 75 per week, not per session. I realised this too late, and had been charged 225 before our first session even happened. I instantly cancelled the service, which in turn cancelled our session so I paid 225 for literally nothing, feels like a scam. I'd suggest going through local counsellors.

We try to make it clear that you're paying for access to all platform features for one week at a time, which includes the option to have a weekly live session. If therapist availability is preventing you from having a weekly session, though, we can extend the membership to allow for more time for this, upon request.

In any case, it seems our Member Success team got back to you with an explanation and a full refund within a few hours of receiving your email to us. If there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to reply to that email.

My first therapist was a disaster

My first therapist was a disaster. She tried to hard to get me and my husband to reconnect, and that was not the time for sure. When she did not get what she was trying to accomplish, she got very personal with me. She insulted me, she was rude, she talked my my personality. It was a disaster. If my husband and I were on the fence, she pushed us over to the ground. I would never recommend this site to anyone.

Unable to get a refund

Issue: therapist was late to session, session did not happen, but they still charged for it.

Requested a refund.

Email agent did not address chief concern. Phone agent avoided a question and hung up before conversation was over.

We can always provide extensions to the membership to make up for the missed time, and provide some extra time on top of that as a courtesy. If you'd prefer a refund, we can provide that instead (although it requires cancellation of the service).

I was skeptical

I was skeptical, but found the service incredibly helpful and my therapist very experienced and caring. I would recommend the service, especially for couples!

Wow-not impressed.

Wow. You don't get to choose your first therapist and apparently get billed before scheduling your first appt. I have an email into customer service as I couldn't locate a person with vetrans experience and or a time we could make an appt. I would certainly hope this is refunded or we will report to our states AG office.
Also, what a weird billing scheme. Weekly and the only way that is beneficial is if a weekly appointment is made-but so many people report having blank weeks billed where they cannot get in for appts. This would turn out to be more expensive than seeing someone in office.

Apologies for any frustration or initial confusion surrounding the billing process. We do bill upfront for access to the assigned therapist, but members are welcome to switch therapists (if need be) before actually paying to start working with one. Also, while we bill weekly for access to the entire suite of platform features, if weekly sessions are not available during any given week, we can extend your membership for you to allow you more time to get those booked, upon request.

This is the most disorganized and…

This is the most disorganized and poorly run business and extremely frustrating with trying to make an appt for literally weeks because I need a family member who is only available on Friday. There is no human on the phone to schedule It's all AI generated emails with no answers to the same repeated questions. When you do get a therapist sent to you you cannot respond without a pay wall. The next therapist sent to me after repeatedly stating I need a Friday slot was not available every Friday because you are forced to pay weekly!When you want to change a therapist "need specific time slot" is not an option.It's been 5 weeks of a run around. So sad that I have to start all over again with another company and may just give up!! I would never do this except I need virtual w a family member out of my state to join in.

We are sorry about the frustration and disappointment. Therapists choose their availability, and that can change from week to week. Many therapists on our platform can work with clients to accommodate having a session at the same time every week, but not all of them operate this way. Once you subscribe, you're able to work with the therapist directly to sort out session times. If you find that they cannot meet your needs in that regard, we can work with you to extend your membership until we find you the right fit.

Terrible Service

Do not use. If your therapist needs to cancel it's up to you to deal with an Ai Bot to make sure you aren't charged.
Please can a member of management contact me as I am having a NIGHTMARE trying to communicate with your Bot.

EDIT to reply to response- Why have you all been trained to avoid just simply saying 'you wont be charged for the missed session'? Why make this so complicated? My therapist is allowed to cancel a session, he's human. Your 'agents' are not.
