Relative Connections becomes ex connections after you give them your money, you cant get any replies or contact whatsoever, I don't believe a reliable company worth their salt would completely disappear after they get your hard earned cash, in fact I would doubt if they are still in business ,.Take care this Leeds based company do not take credit or debit cards it is pathetic to not be able to contact any company just because they have got your money...its a Gotcha situation! Beware!

I am estranged from my two daughters due to a messy divorce from a violently aggressive ex-husband, and I contacted Relative Connections last year in the hope that they could help me reconnect with my daughters. At that time Relative Connections told me that they would only be able to trace my eldest daughter as the younger was under the age of 18, and due to Relative Connections high costs, I chose to use another service, that other service successfully located my daughters. Despite knowing their location, sadly, I haven't been able to connect with my daughters. Relative Connections continued to contact me regularly via email, explaining their extensive services and eventually, desparate to contact my daughters, the youngest was now 18+, I replied back to them. A telephone meeting was arranged by Relative Connections during which they explained an impressive range of services and their experienced staff, to reach out to my daughters to re-connect, so impressive and so assuring, that despite the initial cost being high, we decided to engage their services. I was surprised that, having paid the initial payment, I didn't receive any further calls or correspondence to discuss details, e.g., I already had the address from my previous searches. Many attempts to call Relative Connections yielded an engaged tone, but my emails went unanswered. To my complete surprise a week later I received an email from Relative Connections simply saying that they had attempted to locate my older daughter, no mention at all of my younger daughter, and that completed their service to me (goodbye). My friend in South Africa decided to do a simple search for my daughters, and within 15 minutes had located my older daughter on instagram and confirmed she is still living in the same town. Relative Connections had obviously not read any of my emails and fallen well short of reasonable expectations. None of their initial promises were fulfilled, and I can only say they took my money and ran. If you engage their services, get ready to flush your money down the pan along with your mental health!

I can’t thank the team at relative connections enough. From the first call everyone was so helpful and understanding . My mother age 85 had never known who her natural father was. A war baby she was raised by her grandparents. She had always longed to have a name at least to know where her dna came from.
We were sceptical at first but within days John had identified over 100 possible matches. 3 months later he had narrowed it to 2 potential men . 6 months later not only did he have a name but a dba match to siblings of my mother from her fathers line. Exceeding our expectations we never dreamt of this outcome. It is already life changing. We can’t recommend them enough. If you are considering them just do it you won’t regret it.

I highly recommend Relative Connections. They have been absolutely fantastic in helping me reunite with my birth parents and family, parents who last saw me 44 years ago. Every person I interacted with at the company was extremely friendly and helpful, showing genuine care and interest in helping me with my case. It has been a very emotional and life changing experience, and I will never forget the names of the people who helped me.

The relative in question was found quickly. While the result was not what I had hoped, the company had dealt with the process very well. I can certainly recommend them.

I initially made and an enquiry to Relative Connections early summer last year. They were very good at first and found out details of my biological mother q very uickly and called me to let me know. However it then went silent for a while I did chase them up didnt hear anything for allong time. I gave up hope in finding my mum and felt very lost.However early January this year I got email and call from Amanda to explain she took up my case and sent a letter just before xmas to biological mum. I was in total shock to find out after 33 years apart my mum wanted to meet me. On 3rd February I finally got to meet her. Unfortunately she has health issues but doesnt matter. It would have been nice to have seen her last year as she only received the letter at Xmas. However we had a lovely afternoon and have been talking ever since on the phone. I am truly grateful for Amanda to picking up my case and working her magic.
The missing peace of the jigsaw is now complete.

When I set out to find an old friend, it was important to me to work with an ethical service that would demonstrate transparency and had a clear commitment to maintaining the privacy and choices of all parties. From first contact, I found Relative Connections fitted the bill. The processes, principles and costs were explained clearly and in full and there were no changes, delays or hidden charges. Expectations were set fairly and appropriately and all the staff were friendly and understanding throughout, offering as much or as little advice and support as might be needed. My friend was located and contacted by Relative Connections, pleased to hear from me and we enjoyed brief but beneficial contact which enabled us to catch-up and worked well for both. The team at Relative Connections found my daughter very quickly which surprised me as I had tried for months without success. They gave excellent support both practical and emotional especially after my daughter contacted me and I was at a loss to know how to reply to what she said. Throughout the entire experience, the team demonstrated full professionalism. They genuinely considered our needs, making us feel that our interests were their priority.

We were contacted by an unknown relative via Relative Connections, and they could not have been more helpful. It's clearly an area fraught with potential emotional and psychological dangers, and their experience in navigating those dangers and the sensitivity with which they handled them were a huge help to us. What happens now is down to us, but they definitely gave us the best possible start to our journey.

They explained right from the off exactly what to expect and everything went to plan. I did reconnect with my friend. I would recommend them as the whole process was conducted smoothly and (mainly) efficiently. However they lost a star because my friend contacted them the day they received the first letter but had to leave a message. Nobody returned the call and I believe she had to send them an email. All worked out well in the end.

So far my experience with the company has been poor. In fairness I've given them a complex task but they're shy in providing any progress or updates, unless I contact them. I also doubt they're actually doing any work or research.

Searched began August 2024. Called in September this year asking for an update or some evidence of what they have been working on, was told I'd receive and email, received nothing.

Was emailed by the manager Jake Birchall, who said if I had any questions to email him, (as I'd called the office a couple of times looking for an update) emailed him twice, last week and the week before, also included Claire's email in this chain incase the manager was busy doing nothing. Surprise, surprise, there was no reply.

Called yesterday asked to speak to the manager, was told he was on another call and would call me that day, they couldn't give a time. I had a feeling he wouldn't call and he never did.

Called this morning and asked for an update, which was provided but it's the same update I got in September, no progress, it's with their team of researchers in another country. When asked what company they use abroad, they couldn't provide a name, just "work with experts all over the world".

I'm considering sending my complaint in an email, which I know won't be resolved and then going to the ombudsman etc. We'll see.

All I'd say is it's been 18 months now and they've made very little progress, not to me tion the staff changes that's taken place in that time. Two new staff members have handled my case in 18 months, I only found out when I emailed the company, they don't think to tell you because they're unprofessional.

A lot of fake reviews online, they either post them themselves or outsource it. It's quiet easy to tell. They're are quite a few 1 star views online too, people being scammed essentially.

Seems like a scam tbh so I'd say avoid, but we'll see, it's on going and theres still time for them to do some good.

However, my experience so far is to advise avoiding.

You'd be better highering someone through Ancestry if you're looking to trace a relative online.

I honestly can’t thank Relative Connections enough. From the very first call, they treated my situation with so much care, understanding, and professionalism. That said, prepare yourself for the up's and down's of this journey, if you decide to undertake it. It can be life changing, but not necessarily in the way that might expect.
