The wording, “Pre-approved funds” are misleading!
“Pre-approved funds” wording creates a misleading impression, fraud and hope that is soon decimated.
I received a letter from Republic First Funding asking, “Ready to kiss your credit card bills and other debts good-bye?” It also encouraged me to use my “pre-approved funds disbursement option.” To me, that is clearly wording that suggested, instructed and pretty much guaranteed that promised funds had already been approved and were available. However, the company’s website states that Republic First Funding is not a lender, does not make loans or credit decisions, and may submit your information to lending partners. Its disclosures found online, and not found in their solicitation letter also say that submitting information does not guarantee approval or specific loan terms. This statement is in direct conflict with the flyer, probably sent to million unsuspecting Americans in need of funding. Also, we found the difference between the letter’s message and the online disclosures are extremely misleading, disturbing, unsettling, distressful, and unconscionable especially when so many people are facing financial hardship who may understandably feel hopeful when they read “pre-approved funds.” The truth as well as funding conditions should be just as prominent and apparent as the promise in the letter that was mailed out. We're sharing our experience so other recipients know to read the disclosures carefully before providing personal information (PITI). Receivers of the mailer should be informed that just by receiving the letter/mailer does not mean that they have actually received final approval or guaranteed funds.
