I’m extremely disappointed with my experience using Runway.

I purchased the Pro plan, and almost all of my credits were spent trying to create a single short 15-second advertising video. Despite all of that, I never received one properly finished and usable result.

I provided clear reference materials showing exactly which details needed to appear in the video, but important elements were constantly missing, changed, or generated incorrectly.

At one point, the assistant told me to continue working in Create Studio, which apparently is not even available in the mobile version. After another revision made by the agent, the music was changed for no clear reason.

The logo quality in the advertising video was especially disappointing. It looked almost like something from an old 16-bit game, which is completely unacceptable for a promotional video.

Later, another animated version of the logo was generated. Visually, it actually looked much better, but the text contained spelling mistakes, making it unusable as well.

The biggest problem is that credits keep being consumed while you are essentially trying to fix problems created by the system itself. By the time most of my Pro credits were gone, I still did not have a finished 15-second video that I could actually use.

I do believe Runway has a lot of potential. The technology is impressive when it works, but in its current state it still feels too inconsistent, unfinished, and expensive compared with the results you actually get.

Maybe this was just my individual experience, but after spending almost an entire Pro credit allowance on one very short video and still not reaching a usable result, I personally cannot say that the service is worth the price right now.

Stay Away. Such a scam.
Cost $18 to generate a clip with poor quality, clothing changes per clip, characters age, appearance and sizes change per clip. No refunds on bad video generations. Your just expected to pay the $18 again. And it still messed up

I really like Runway’s visual quality and the presenter it generated for my project. The image consistency and overall look were impressive.

However, my experience with speech generation was very frustrating and expensive. I repeatedly received incorrect pronunciation in both English and Spanish, including basic words being mispronounced, incorrect subtitles, spelling mistakes, and repeated text. I had to regenerate several clips to correct errors that were introduced by the system itself, and each correction consumed additional credits.

In one afternoon, I spent close to $200 in credits and still did not have a finished video.

I contacted support because many of the problems were clearly generation errors rather than mistakes in my prompt. I asked whether some of the credits could be refunded or restored so I could continue using the platform. Unfortunately, the response was that credits are generally consumed once a generation completes, even if the result contains pronunciation, spelling, or subtitle errors.

I understand that generative AI is not perfect, but for educational content, pronunciation and text accuracy are critical. I believe Runway should offer a better correction or refund system when the platform itself generates obvious mistakes. Users should not have to pay the full generation cost again just to correct a word that was mispronounced or misspelled by the system.

I would have been much more willing to continue using Runway if there were a fair way to receive partial credit reimbursement for defective generations.

The visual generation is excellent, but the current correction and refund policy can make the platform extremely expensive to use in practice. I hope Runway improves this because I would genuinely like to continue using the platform.

It lures with amazing results when you try first, The moment you get some good amount of credits its keeps messing up all over the place so you need to redo the things over and over again, of course the agent is " terribly sorry and understands my frustration" but of course cant give credits back on all the terrible outcomes. Runway should be classified as loot box gambling, It is absolutely frustrating honestly and purposely build upon wasting all your invested money so you need to buy and spent even more, over and over again! after subscribing the first creations were amazing, but the second I bought more credits as I planed to extend my use on the already created footage............what a huge scam... ignoring prompts completely, EVEN if you provide a full video telling it to recreate the exact thing it comes up with absolute unusable BS.

Bloody useless. This software is created for one purpose only, and it is not creating a visually stunning video, it was created to rip people off. Result created was deliberately incorrect, even though the prompt specifically said otherwise. And they charge again and again for correction. AVOID AT ALL COST!

My advice to you is to RUN AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE! If you've mistakenly signed up like I did, cancel straight away and count your loss.

This is my whole experience in a nutshell... “Here's one of the world's fanciest generative-video systems. You may upload a whopping 50 MB video file. Please enjoy your default QuickTime movie. Your download will arrive by stagecoach.”😂

J'ai tenté par tous les moyens possibles avec l'aide de son propre agent de créer une p'tite vidéo de 5 sec avec ces crédits (qui en coûtait 60) et croyez-le ou non, nous n'avons JAMAIS réussi ...malgré 50 minutes de tentatives acharnées. Il y a toujours ce note qui dit : UPGRADE et ce peut importe toutes les options disponibles pour créer ce fameux clip vidéo vous trouverez toujours CETTE AVERTISSEMENT : si tu veux voir ton clip alors : UPGRADE. Encore une belle attrape d'une entreprise qui effrontément MANIPULE ses clients potentiels en leur faisant miroiter des choses quasi impossible à atteindre. C'est un peu comme la machine à sous des casinos... Ce qu'on veut c'est seulement ton argent et je dirais même qu'au casino, même si les chances sont minces, tu peux peut-être obtenir quelque chose pour tes efforts mais chez RunWay ce n'est même pas le cas car même leur agent doit déclarer forfait parce qu'il ne sait même plus quoi faire pour vous faire profiter de ces crédits GRATUITS. Gardez vos distances de cette entreprise... Elle donne tous les indices d'un attrape-nigaud ! Alors imaginez son "service aux clients... !"

Charged monthly for 10 months for a subscription I never agreed to and never used: noone of my emails is even recognised after trying to log in, thinking I may have used a free trial sometime.
I only caught it when I checked my statements. I've been chasing a refund of around £140 for almost a month and had zero response.
The bank has stepped in blocking the direct debit I never ever set, or sign in for. It is a legal scam with many followers on IG.

Signed up for a plan and was not satisfied with what they offer. Charging too much credits for just a shot of a video. Asked on the same day for a refund and they said that is not possible and this is not how they operate. Yeah, you operate exactly like scammers. Awful experience. Never buy anything there

Dubious. They've gotten some GEO so Chat recommends them because SOMEWHERE it says it's $15 a month. Good luck finding that. They change their prices when you input a prompt. The only options are the $35 a month and the over $300 a year. I'm trying Flow, but It's likely only the beginning of my video generation journey. I just thought you should know my experience.

The video generation did not follow the prompt I provided. It ignored several of the specific instructions I wrote, and the final result was completely different from what I requested.

Because of this failed generation, I lost approximately $10 worth of credits. There is no option to regenerate the video without paying again, and I also cannot request a refund for the credits that were wasted because the system failed to follow my prompt.

A half brilliant, entirely stupid and incapable program. It hallucinates and charges you repeatedly for trying to fix the same hallucination. On making one small change, it changes all sorts of other things without being instructed to do so. Help is (it feels) intentionally not accessible, preventing issues from being fixed.

Simple video editing it cannot do. You would be crazy to pay for anything like this.

One star is already too much, but unfortunately you can't choose zero.

Runway AI are nothing but scammers. The software simply does not do what you tell it to do—it constantly gets things wrong. Ironically, the AI itself often admits that it failed, but when you contact support, you receive the same standard reply: no refund because you have already used the software.

I honestly wonder how anyone is supposed to find out whether a piece of software actually works without using it first.

On top of that, it's ridiculously expensive. The AI can't even tell you how many credits are worth how many euros, yet it's very easy to burn through a huge number of credits, even with a monthly subscription.

Stay away from this company.

This is not a good website. Don't waste your money. I was trying to produce a video clip. I had difficulty manuevering the program. They got me with the try for free. I used up the advertised free credits, purchase a month's subscription used up those credits, purchased more credits and the product that was produced by the website was very lousy, not what I wanted. I asked for my money back. There is no satisfaction guarantee here. You are just out of your money and stuck with a bad product.

I wish I had came to Trustpilot first before wasting time and money.

I came to Runway with a complete script, a clear storyboard, and six original character designs for a 30-second animated spec ad. I spent $160 across two separate sessions and got zero usable output.

The AI agent spoke with complete confidence at every step promising to fix mistakes in the next generation, firing multiple scenes simultaneously without my approval, and burning hundreds of credits before I could review a single result. Every time I raised a problem, I was told the next generation would fix it. It never did.
Characters were inconsistent across scenes. Environments were completely wrong I asked for a small outdoor kiosk and got a large interior shop. Random animals appeared that nobody asked for. The tiger arrived angry when the script said friendly. Props disappeared and reappeared incorrectly.

The AI is programmed to sound confident and keep generating. That confidence costs you real money.

Two weeks of my time. $160 of my money. Nothing to show for it.

Support did not help. I am warning everyone: this technology cannot deliver consistent 3D animation across multiple scenes. Do not pay for what it cannot produce.

The whole concept of business is, you pay for a product or service, and then you get said product or service in return. Not with Runway.ai. I bought the subscription because I needed one video for my website, just one. Spoiler alert - it wasn't able to produce even one video, which is the whole concept of the site. I type in the prompt, it spends about a minute buffering and then "Task submission failed: You do not have enough credits to run this task." that is literally copied and pasted. Not enough credits, despite not having received anything? So they don't give you enough money to do a single task? How is that allowed? So that means that I have spent my money, for nothing. So, naturally I try and contact customer service and it's just a bot, which is ok, ai is powerful now, except they are clearly using a very cheap 2010 bot that just goes round in circles and it literally just kept asking me the same question over and over again and then contradicting itself. So, I go searching for customer service all over the page and the only thing I can find everywhere is prompts and buttons to "upgrade my plan" or "buy more credits". Either very poorly designed UI or just a scam where from the beginning they reel you in with the cheapest tier and then force you on more expensive tiers or to buy credits, if you actually want to use the service.

Editing does nothing. Told it to add a lapel mic, it gave me a headset an a lapel mic. Told it to remove the headset twice, did nothing. Horrible. Can't get my credits back if the video/image is unusable.
