Safegas replaced my gas boiler on 14/5/24
Alex & James (I hope I got the names right) arrived on time and talked me through what they would be doing and how long it would take.they were polite and friendly and after covering everything that could get dirty got stuck in. I left them to it and they phoned me when they were nearly finished. I arrived to find them cleaning and hovering everywhere.they then talked me through everything they did & they were real happy with there work and how well it went , there was no complaints about how hard it was which was refreshing ,to be honest most tradesmen do nothing but complain, these two were a joy to have around.. Paul then arrived to inspect the work and show me how to work everything, he installed a wireless hub so I can turn the heating on from my phone ( genius) the politeness of all 3 of them was amazing. Nothing was to much trouble and every job big or small was important to them again so refreshing. From the first phone call to the girls in the office to the end of the job was fantastic customer service. Safegas would be very proud of themselves ..

As good as it gets!
Found this company using the recommended ‘Google Nest Pro Installer’ facility online and arranged with them to install a generation 3 Google Nest Pro smart thermostat. From my first contact with them, they were polite, very informative and recommended where the best place was to buy the thermostat from. An installation appointment was made for a few days later and they arrived promptly at the time they said they would be there. Their engineer was very friendly and knowledgeable and quickly got to work on the install. All my questions were answered in regard to how the new thermostat worked and he completed it in just over an hour. The finished job was perfect, no mess, and all the wiring was lovely and neat and tucked away in the airing cupboard. The new thermostat looks fabulous and works like a dream. I now have remote access via my mobile phone to control my central heating system (you can also connect it to your Amazon Alexa system and control the system by just using your voice if you wish) and as it’s one of the new models that ‘learns and monitors’ your energy usage I’m hoping it will save me some money on my energy bills as well. As it was professionally installed by a ‘Google Pro Installer’ you automatically qualify for an extended 5-year warranty on the thermostat which is fabulous! Would thoroughly recommend this company without any hesitation, you won’t be disappointed!
Outstanding Service from start to finish!
Safegas recently fitted a brand new outdoor oil boiler and new valves to all of my radiators, while also balancing my heating system. The service I received was second to none. From my very first contact with them, via phone, I cannot express how friendly, polite and professional they were throughout the whole process. They respected my home, my furniture, put down dust sheets everywhere and removed their shoes whilst in my property. They tidied and cleaned up and left my home exactly as they found it. The service and treatment I received from everyone involved was outstanding!
I could not recommend them highly enough and they completely deserve the 5 star rating! Thank you to
everyone involved, you’re amazing!

Boiler Replacement
I had a replacement boiler installed yesterday, obviously I sought several quotes but Safegas offered an excellent price. The whole process was effortless, the engineer turned up for the assessment at the prearranged time. Installation started and completed as per letter of confirmation. Installer Adam and his apprentice were polite, courteous and professional. They tidied up after themselves and treated my property with respect. I am absolutely delighted with the work carried out and would thoroughly recommend Safegas (Wetherby) as a company to deal with. "A safe pair of hands!"

Cover cancelled without notice due to admin error
Having been a loyal customer for around 20 years our recent experience with Safegas unfortunately leads me to write this negative review.
An administrative error by Safegas regarding our Direct Debit unexpectedly left us without cover when our combi-boiler broke down at the end of January.
Essentially what happened was that in 2020 I changed the direct debit to come out of a different bank account, and Safegas switched this properly and payments were taken as expected. Note that I didn't close the original account at that time. Fast forward to May 2022 and I decided to close the original account. What I didn't realise was that Safegas never cancelled the direct debit on the original account, and I didn't realise it was effectively still active and using the same reference. When the old account was closed the bank sent a notification through the BACS system to Safegas to say the account was closed. Unfortunately, Safegas only checked against their reference and did not check that the account being notified was the same as my active direct debit with my current bank. They just marked the direct debit as cancelled and left it at that - no notification, or 'sorry you're leaving us', nothing. I was therefore unaware that our cover had effectively ceased.
Thus, when I called to ask for an engineer to assess our broken boiler I was told that because I had cancelled my cover there would be a call out charge. Er, no I'd not cancelled my cover, it turns out Safegas had, due to their mixing up the bank details when my old account was closed. The customer services representative was rather unsympathetic and intimated that I should have noticed that the direct debit was no longer going out. In fairness, yes, I could have actively checked, but I would argue that the purpose of direct debits it that you shouldn't need to monitor them too closely, and that if there is a problem then the company should get in touch. Note that, at the time or writing this review, (Feb 2023) the direct debit with my current bank account is still active, proof that I did NOT cancel it. Safgas simply did not request payment after May 2022.
In the end, Safegas missed two opportunities that would have avoided this:
1. When I changed my bank they could have used a different reference number for the direct debit, and
2. When they received the BACS notification they should have checked that the sort code and account number matched the current ones in their system.
(for info the report is known as an ADDACS report, and it contains the reference number, sort code and account number of the account changing or cancelling the direct debit, as well as a reason code, so has enough information to check if the account is the same as the current bank details).
In the end we did get an engineer to assess the boiler via other cover that we have, and it was beyond economic repair. We have since had a new boiler installed through another supplier who I shall be reviewing separately (great next day service there by the way). If not for this debacle with our direct debit we would have happily had Safegas install our new boiler, but sadly we will never use them again. I have given two stars in recognition of previous good service that we had from them.

I’ve only given this one star as 0 isn’t an option. My elderly mother has been with Safe Gas for 20 years. She’s 86, lives alone and just out of hospital. On Saturday her boiler broke. Safe Gas refused to come out Saturday. Or Sunday. And now it’s debatable if they’ll get there in Monday because they only have ONE ENGINEER! Despite the contract saying it’s 24/7 they say it isn’t and that just for emergencies. If a house with no heating or hot water being lived in by a sick elderly woman by herself isn’t urgent then I don’t know what to think about this companies ethos. And reading the reviews this isn’t the first time. To add to that they use a general call centre out of hours who, by their own admission, don’t know anything about Safe Gas or it’s contracts or operations, they simply have one mobile number for the one engineer on call. If you want cover in an emergency, don’t use this business. Good at sales (I tried that number, only too happy to assist!) not good at service. I feel very very let down.

New build - Required service & Gas turning on
I called Safe Gas to service my boiler & get my gas up & running as I'd moved into a New Build. Speaking to the team they understood this was important so I could get up & running. They turned up the next day & sorted everything out. Very reliable, great service & friendly staff.
Would highly recommend & will be using in the future.

Dodged a bullet ?…
I called Safegas of Wetherby and asked if they could give me a quote to replace my existing boiler, I was told someone would be in the area the following day and that they would call after 9 o 'clock. The gentleman duly arrived, asked me a number of questions and explained that there were several options and he would cover them all in a written quote and he left. That was the last I ever heard from Safegas.

The Safegas company and engineer were extremely professional and nice and I would recommend Safegas Wetherby to everybody. Again sincere apologies as I told my husband it was the pump when it was the fan and flow pipe plus parts required.

Deprivation of basic amenities
A company happy to leave two pensioners without hot water or central heating for four days due to their actions on a leaky boiler. The engineer was evidently more keen to clock off than to explain the situation properly and, when I rang to complain the person on the phone stated that it was illegal for the engineer to leave the boiler switched on - interesting that they don't consider deprivation of basic amenities against the law. Thank goodness it wasn't the dead of winter or they could have ended up worse than with a cold. Formal written complaint ignored - as if more should be expected of this shambles of a business.
Averted an absolute disaster.
I cannot adequately express my appreciation for the staff at Safegas Wetherby for how they went 'above and beyond' for me yesterday. After being a Homecare customer of British Gas for over 30 years I experienced a problem with my boiler that left me without hot water and left me a with a substantial leak from my cylinder, caused by Dyno Plumbers,which apparently couldn't be sorted until next week. Alan from Safegas was at my property providing an estimate for a new boiler when I tearfully asked him if he knew any emergency plumbers who could fit a new cylinder speedily. He got on to this task straight away, and after speaking to Paul at Safegas he advised that a Safegas employee ,Chris, had agreed to do the job and fit a new Cylinder and immersion heater on his day off, thus averting potential flooding of the upstairs of my property or leaving me without any water for 5 days. Such brilliant customer service from Alan, Paul, Chris and the receptionist with a Scottish accent who was so helpful (sorry I forgot your name). I have hot water now, I still need a new boiler and given the service I have received so far I will definitely be using Safegas. Thank You so much for all you did for me yesterday, I will recommend you to all my family and friends and I will never forget your kindness.
All downhill since 2011
We had a boiler fitted by Safegas in (I think) 2011. Their quote was much more reasonable than British Gas's and the fitting etc was satisfactory.
But what's happened since then? Have they had a change of management? a change of ethos? We've had two absolutely disastrous experiences with them. I wrote a whole long shpiel about it all and then realised that no one was going to read all that, but what really bugs me - apart from the way their engineers have twice left us worse off than when they arrived - is the fact that when you get in touch with them, they reply in corporate-speak, not even really knowing what they're talking about. (The guy referenced a 2018 incident in a way which showed he hadn't a clue what had happened or just how devastating it had been.) Anyway, hoping to move soon and then no more Safegas for us.

Five years ago they replaced my radiators and pipe work and also did this in a most professional manner. Following that work I had no hesitation in using Safegas again. The whole team comes highly recommended

Brilliant- had an out of hours emergency as our boiler was leaking and could cause damage . Came out in 30 mins and the engineer was fantastic (Neil) very supportive and easy to talk to.Fixed the leak within an hour , new partetc .Great service

I like to support local independents when I can and as Safegas were local & recommended by a friend I thought I would let them quote for a new boiler system. The MD Martin Cooper took the time to come out and do the survey/quote, the business is something that he is clearly passionate about and the 2 young men who came to do the installation were wonderful, very skilled, knowledgable, efficient and courteous. They removed all old system tanks & cleaned up after themselves! I can't recommend this company highly enough. Their quote was not the cheapest in fact it was actually the most expensive, but the company filled me full of confidence from the start and I don't regret my choice one bit. Thank you Safegas.

I pay a monthly fee for Boiler cover, I reported a fault a month ago.Safe gas came out after a week of trying and said the boiler needed a new part. I kept calling they are still claiming they are waiting for a part.My boiler broke down completely this morning I called them and they promised a call back, nothing at all. They are aware I have a baby, I am now without hot water and heating.
I have been ringing all morning but after leaving me on hold for 15 minutes they just cut me off.The required Part is readily available my Dad located one in 5 mins on a Saturday!

So after been a customer for over 10…
So after been a customer for over 10 years I ask for a salesman to call and give me a quart for a new boiler. I ask for the appointment on a Tuesday and its booked for a Friday to be told it will be between one and 3 enabling me to take time off work. 20 minutes before 3 o'clock I receive a garbled voicemail and have to ring the office to be told it's going to be more along the lines of 4 o'clock. 3rd time this company have let me down and will be cancelling other family contracts also. Disgrace
