My top down bottom up blinds do not work as they should. Select blinds said they don't issue refunds, not very helpful as I would like to buy from another company that has a decent product but unfortunately I've spent my money on a company that doesn't stand behind their product

I recently purchased a roller shade in the color “Polar Bear”, expecting it to match the “Polar Bear” cellular shades I ordered from this same company last year. The names are identical, so it’s completely reasonable to expect the colors to match — especially when you’re coordinating window treatments in the same room. They don’t even come close.

Nowhere on their website does it warn that “Polar Bear” means two entirely different colors depending on the product. There’s zero mention of different manufacturers or any disclaimer that the same color name won’t actually be the same across product lines. It’s incredibly misleading — especially when they encourage you to make decisions based on swatches and color consistency.

When I contacted customer service, I was shocked. Rather than owning any part of this confusion, they blamed me. They insisted I hadn’t ordered samples (which I did — for the original product), and offered no solution, no exchange, no credit, nothing. Just the implication that I was wrong and should’ve somehow known their “Polar Bear” isn’t actually “Polar Bear.”

This is a clear case of false consistency, and they refuse to take any responsibility for misrepresenting their products. If colors are from different sources and don’t match, then they should have different names — period. Reusing the same name for different colors just leads customers into a trap.

Extremely disappointed. I now have mismatched shades in my space, wasted money, and zero support from a company that clearly values convenience over customer trust. I won’t be ordering from them again.

SelectBlinds.ca: Quality, Price, and they stand behind their product

The blind industry has changed dramatically since COVID and I have completely changed suppliers as a result. The changes are 1) New rules about cords (YOU CANNOT HAVE CORDS ON BLINDS IN CANADA) and 2) Certain local suppliers who decided COVID would be a great way to double, triple, or even quadruple prices on previous corded product.

Now to be fair, I only purchase "Top down - Bottom Up" type Honeycomb blinds and the mechanism to make this work with no cords is definitely more expensive than the simple corded mechanism, and this is important because you don't want a cheaply made "low quality TD-BU" mechanism.

Furthermore, being the second cheapest guy I know, I like to measure and install my own blinds and I definitely don't want strangers in my home to do the measurements and installation. (Nor do I want to pay for that "service")

That being said, I went out to a major club store in Canada that starts with "C" and a local Furniture and Draperies store, and SelectBlinds.ca for quotes.

Select Blinds had a good price and the received product quality is excellent. Furthermore, when one blind was delivered undersize for the measurement, they asked me for video evidence, agreed that the width was 1/8" short from spec, and made it right by shipping a new one with no return required (they ask that I donate it to charity.)

The shipping time on all my orders was very good, typically 8-10 days.

In summary: Fast Ship; Top Quality; Competitive Price; No strangers on your property, and if something is wrong and it is their factory's fault, they will make it right. (And they are CANADAIN, everyone I talked to is in Toronto)

Important: There are three widths you need to be clear on: ORDER WIDTH/HEADRAIL WIDTH/FABRIC WIDTH. Typically you will specify ORDER WIDTH only, and the other two will be calculated at the factory.

In the case of the blinds I ordered, the headrail with is guaranteed to be [ORDER WIDTH less 1/4"] and the fabric width is guaranteed to be [ORDER WIDTH less 3/8"]. All measurements are guaranteed to be within [PLUS OR MINUS 1/8"] of these guaranteed offsets. Make certain to read the guarantees for width on the blinds you order, they appear on the product information page of the SPECIFIC blind type that you select. Example:

Customer service is a joke.

Customer service is a joke if you have a problem you are screwed.
Ordered aug 14 now it's sept 21 lost shipment after many delivery promise's still no blinds i canceled my order and have not received a e=mail confirmation after my cancelation found a better company for $100 less.
Thank you for the screw up saved $100

Poor customer support and ridiculously…

Poor customer support and ridiculously delayed order shipment
Ridiculous wait time! I ordered 2 months ago, delivery date was moved 5x and latest projected delivery date would be 3 months from my original order date...with a higher chance of being changed to a further date.
When calling their phone number, wait times is horrendous and just ends up telling you to leave a voice mail for a callback that never happens.
After requesting for a cancellation via their chat agent, the agent cannot provide a cancellation confirmation as it needs to be approved first, and will take days to wait again if approved and for refund.
Such poorer than poor customer service in this day and age!
