Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company. I received a FedEx invoice for $33.44 for additional shipping two weeks after I received my order. I bought two pairs of shoes and paid $11.99 for shipping at checkout. I would never have bought from this company if I had known I was going to be charged almost as much for shipping as I paid for the shoes. Fortunately, my credit card company protected me and let me dispute the additional charges. When I read the information from the website, the credit card company agreed that it was misleading as the website has two conflicting paragraphs about shipping. This is listed at the top of the page under shipping: “For orders over $149, enjoy free shipping within Canada and the continental USA. Orders under $149 ship for a flat rate of $15 CAD. International shipping rates calculated at checkout.” When you scroll down past several additional paragraphs, this is listed at the bottom: “Please note shipping costs for items shipped outside North America are estimated at checkout and may require additional shipping fees depending on the shipping address i. For all international orders, the customer is responsible for any and all Customs and Brokerage Fees. Therefore, any orders shipping outside of Canada are subject to customs and or duties charges.”

In addition, I signed up for 10% off my first order and never received the email and sent a few emails to ask about it with no response.

Solid and reliable business

Nomads came through twice for me in orders that became complicated, and at my own error.

The effort put into packaging a snowboard to ship was top tier.

Will be looking to them first when I'm in need of new gear in the future.

I ordered two bicycle tires

I ordered two bicycle tires. The total cost was $31.98 plus $10.99 for shipping. Now I get an email saying the item is oversized and I need to pay an additional $20.00 for oversized shipping. The total shipping cost of shipping $30.99 should have been included in the total price when I ordered the item in the first place. If I knew the total was so much I would not have ordered the tires.

I initially gave Shop Nomads a one-star review. But they cancelled and refunded my order without any questions asked. So I am giving them four stars for their prompt response.

Hidden Fees and Poor Customer Service

I purchased a pair of skis from Nomads and was required to pay the shipping cost before the order could be released for delivery. Because of the size of the skis, I was told shipping would be calculated after purchase and that payment would be required before shipment. That was completely reasonable, and I paid the requested shipping charge as instructed.

However, after the skis were delivered, I unexpectedly received an additional invoice from FedEx for customs duties and brokerage fees.

At no point during checkout, nor during multiple communications with customer service, was it disclosed that additional charges could later be billed by the same shipping carrier. If customers are responsible for import duties, that information should be clearly communicated before shipping is paid and the order is finalized so buyers can make an informed decision.

What initially appeared to be a good deal quickly turned into something very different once these additional charges were added after the fact. To make matters worse, the shipment was delayed, the box arrived damaged, and the skis were poorly packed.

When I opened a support ticket to clarify the issue, the ticket was closed quickly without giving me the opportunity to respond, which was disappointing and raised concerns about how customer issues are handled.

Transparency and communication are essential when dealing with international orders and additional fees. While I later learned that this information exists somewhere on the company’s website, it was not clearly communicated during checkout, on the invoice, or in the order confirmation email.

Buyers ordering internationally from Nomads should be aware that additional costs such as customs duties and brokerage fees may appear after delivery. I’m sharing this experience so future customers that decide to buy from Nomads are aware and can factor these potential extra costs into their purchasing decision.

Order Issue No More!

So I ordered a new snowboard and had an issue with my order. Not only did I receive an email, following up but I also received a personal phone call from their Manager, Maha. She was absolutely amazing and helped me to correct the issue with my order. This was the first time shopping with Shop Nomads, I normally buy from other online retailers, but I'll say, after personally talking to Maha, she made the entire process worth while. I'll definitely be buying from them again!

BEWARE

BEWARE! I received a fedex duty tax because of this order! $62.92. I cannot get ahold of Nomads. I have placed a ticket, email, you name it. No response. The coat itself way too big. So now I have a useless coat that coat $62 more than it should. All this shipping info was nowhere to be found on the website, nor any info on it being an issue. Buyers beware.

Unresponsive after sales support related to an exchange

Purchased snowboard boots from the website. Prices were shown in £ so assumed shoe sizes were also UK sizes. When the product arrived (shipped from Canada) the size was incorrect. I contacted customer services to enquire about an exchange. Had an initial response, but subsequently had no response to 3 follow-up emails, which has been very disappointing. I would not purchase from them again. If purchasing items outside of Canada, please consider that sizes maybe different to standard and shipping times are long

Shop is a total scam wrt shipping

Shop is a total scam. Advertises free shipping explicitly on the pages for snowboards, but later tries to charge extra fees for oversize shipping (not even listed in their FAQ). Also makes itself look like a US shop in USD etc, but then puts clearing customs on you! Unbelievable. DO NOT BUY THERE, especially if you're from the US

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I bought a snow helmet that ended up being too small. I attempted to contact them well within their return policy dates. I have sent multiple emails attempting to contact them before the return policy date was past it's due
date. No one has bothered to reach out to me and now it's past their return date policy. I'm guessing this is on purpose so then they can tell me I can't return it. One star cuz I can't give less.

Do not order internationally from here. They will send you a message post-shipping that you're responsible for clearance fee's even though it says free shipping. When you reach out to customer support they'll reference some fine print on another page as if you were supposed to know that when checking out. Like, I'm supposed to look at your shipping terms & policies before checking out on a page that says free shipping. Save yourself the headache.

Very Misleading Shipping Fees

I ordered bindings for my daughter on Nomads to the US; they came as expected and what also came with it was a tariff bill equivalent to my purchase with Nomads from FedEx. I contact customer service and they said their Shipping Policy states they are not responsible for tariff regulations and basically tough luck and there's nothing they can do. They claimed they are very transparent about this. But, upon checking out, there is absolutely no transparency that as a consumer I would be expected to pay this. It should be red and bold. As a consumer, who clicks and reads the small fine print? Secondly, they did nothing to make this right (no discount or credit or relief). They just closed my ticket.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I made a poor choice in ordering bindings from Shop Nomads in early December. I received an email from FedEx letting me know the shipment was stuck in Winnipeg and was missing essential paperwork in order to get across the border. I proceeded to call Shop Nomads and leave voicemails on 3 different occasions spread out across 2 weeks and also filed a claim via email with the subject line: "urgent help needed". I didn't hear anything back. Unsure what else to do, I disputed the charge with my credit card company in hopes of getting the money refunded. Three weeks later, the bindings show up, after I've already went out and purchased a set locally so I could ski and I receive a generic notice that my "ticket has been closed" from Shop Nomads with ZERO COMMUNICATION. There was no response to my voice mails or my email. I also receive notice from my credit card company that Shop Nomads provided evidence that the shipment was delivered and thus they were not held accountable for the refund. I've now been attempting to communicate to initiate a return and refund and after 2 email exchanges of me explaining my case, how I attempted to contact them, how I thought my shipment was stuck in purgatory and hadn't received any communication to let me know otherwise, I was told I would need to pay for the return shipping label and a 10% restocking fee and also a $20 fee from FedEx that came in the mail for me related to the customs which was not clear upon purchasing. There was no grace or understanding of the energy and attempts I made to reach them nor any accountability about their role in this. So now I have a set of bindings I don't want and it's going to cost half of what they are worth to return them. Don't make this same mistake! It's not worth the slightly lower price point.

Poor customer service, slow and inflexible

Bought a Burton snowboard jacket at more than 30% discount. Due to the discount it was excluded from returns. They finally approved an exchange for a smaller size same model but charged me shipping, restocking, and shipping for exchange product. Additionally I just got a bill from FedEx for import duties. Overall, the customer service team was not responsive/pro-active and did not get back to my emails for two weeks at a time which dragged out this whole process for two months. In order to get this resolved I had to call multiple times as my exchange request would just sit there without any movement for weeks. If I had known about them being located in Canada, I would not have ordered due to unnecessary delays. In addition to that, very poor customer experience and absolutely NOT recommendable.
