My experience Buyer Beware of TheWigDealer
My experience with TheWigDealer has been extremely disappointing, and I believe other consumers should understand how their shipping protection and lost-package process worked in my case before making a purchase.
I purchased over $528 in merchandise and also paid for the company's shipping protection because I wanted peace of mind if anything happened to my shipment.
My package was lost by FedEx before I ever received it. After multiple escalations with FedEx, I was advised that my next step would be to file a claim in my own name. Before I could do so, TheWigDealer took over the claim and assured me they would work directly with FedEx and send me a replacement once the claim was resolved. Relying on that promise, I did not pursue my own claim.
FedEx later informed me that the merchant had been compensated for the lost shipment. After that, I was told my replacement order would be shipped.
Then everything changed.
I was later informed that the items were out of stock and that I would only receive store credit.
My concern is that the merchant had already been paid for my original purchase and was later compensated by FedEx for the same lost shipment. Despite that, I was left without the merchandise I purchased, without the replacement that had been promised, and without a refund. Instead, I was expected to accept store credit and continue shopping with the same company.
I did receive responses to some of my emails, but they did not meaningfully move my case toward a fair resolution. Once the claim was resolved, I felt my concerns were brushed aside rather than addressed.
My issue is not that FedEx lost the package. Shipping carriers make mistakes. My concern is how TheWigDealer handled the situation afterward. I relied on their promise to replace my order, but that promise was later withdrawn, leaving me with store credit for merchandise I never received.
Consumers purchase shipping protection expecting to be protected if something goes wrong. Based on my experience, I do not believe I received the benefit of that protection. I encourage anyone considering a purchase to carefully evaluate whether the company's post-loss resolution process aligns with their expectations before spending their money.
