Bow, London WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY DESPITE NOT MOVING IN

Edit 29th June - please escalate this to the regional manager. I have already requested a SAR of my account and heard nothing back. I am not interested in speaking with the Bow manager as they have already been dismissive and ignored me.

UPDATE* after speaking with Chris this morning who has confirmed i made a call on the 19th may, after Ibs got back to me being rude and dismissive, they’re now claiming shurgard don’t record calls and that i never made a call! They’ve called me a liar on the phone.

Bow, London are thieves! My move in date was 16th May, I called 19th May asking to swap to another branch and was advised I would need to cancel with Bow instead and create a separate contract with the desired branch I wanted to switch to. So on the phone call I gave my consent to cancel my Bow contract as I was still in the cooling off period. The customer advisor ran through all the details and on the phone confirmed to me that the contract was cancelled! To my surprise, I receive an email later in June asking me if I still want to use my storage unit as I have not moved in yet (despite having been told it's cancelled!). I proceed to engage with the email explaining that I already cancelled my contract with Bow (calls are also recorded and every person I've spoken to has refused to acknowledge this part of the story), and telling me that I am liable for the fee for the month! Now they have stolen money from me despite their staff telling me it was all cancelled well before the 14 day cooling off period! I have been told by Bow that I cannot give notice over the phone, and only by writing. if this is true, why did you staff member confirm the cancellation over the phone?? Why should customers be penalised for their staff not being trained properly?? Bow have been absolutely disgusting and dismissing all my emails and refusing to give sufficient responses, and conveniently won't address the mistake THEIR staff member made. Why am I having to pay for Shurgard's incompetent staff training? If I was told to put this in writing over the phone, I would have done it there and then! GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY! I am now waiting for 8 the week mark so I can take this to the ombudsman.

First time user

OMG. i have been searching for some time now for a bit of storage. found this place at the end of my road.
As i have never used these facilities before i was a bit worried about using the app. However i was pleasantly surprised at how easy and straightforward it was.
I am so happy with them.

Couldn’t access unit in the Bow location

Rented a unit in the Bow location. Arrived with removals team with all our worldly goods to put in storage before a flight the next day. Downloaded app, followed steps , came up with Error message on main gate. Asked a few different users none of whom could figure it out. Called Shurgard contact numbers but no one was able to help us access as it was after opening hours. We ended up having to pay for Big yellow storage 3 days later plus extra time from our removals team costing us close to £300 extra. Shurgard refunded the £33 for initial month but no compensation or help beyond that. Don’t recommend ! If you do use them make sure to access during opening hours if poss in case this happens and you get locked out.

Would be great if they didn't harass you.

The facility is good but they bombard you with calls when you're first trying to sort out a unit, made the process unnecessarily unpleasant. Two stars of for facility and location.

The whole user experience is terrible

The whole user experience is terrible. There are so many hidden fees that you only find out once you start the booking process. Not only that, when you go to drop your stuff off you are faced with everything being automated. My app refused to work, which led me to be stuck trying to get the lifts to work for 40 minutes with the staff member in house not knowing what to do because they did not expect the tech to not work.

We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t receive all the information you needed regarding pricing, and that the recent changes to the introduction of the app have caused frustration. We understand that changes like these can be inconvenient.

The app was introduced to enhance both security and convenience for our customers. It allows for easier access management and helps ensure that only authorised individuals can enter the facility.

Regarding pricing transparency, unlike many other storage providers, all available units and prices are shown online, including our special offers. The only additional costs for new customers are a one-off administration fee and a unique sealed lock for your unit, which ensures that no one else can access your belongings. While our facilities are fully insured, customers are required to take out insurance for their stored items, as the cost depends on the value of the goods stored. This is why it’s not included in the rental price.

Good Service

From signing up to reaching the storage . The staff was kind and helpful. Storage space didn’t disappoint me and and storing my items went well.

AVOIDDDD!!!!

This place is a complete rip-off. I used the storage for ONE NIGHT and got charged for TWO FULL MONTHS. Nobody told me I needed to give a 15-day notice before my billing date — not once. I only found out after they hit me with a second bill.

Even if you use it for just one day into the new month, they make you pay for the whole thing. Absolute scam. And the worst part? Their website lies, saying you “don’t have to rent for the whole month.” Total false advertising.

Shurgard Bow is shady, greedy, and completely dishonest. They’ll happily bleed you dry with fine print they never mention until it’s too late.

DO NOT trust them. DO NOT store anything here. RUN.
