After a lot of research, we decided to use Simply Extend. We are so happy with the result! Fatmir and his team were good and absolute perfectionists. We did have a few minor issues, mainly caused by a neighbour who tried to complain at everything we were doing. But the building team and Simply Extend dealt with this really well and managed to de-escalate. We are very happy with our new family space and have told all our friends about it. Thanks Simply!

This review is based on my honest experience of Simply Construction group. Please note and that this company also trades under (Simply Extend, Simply Loft, Simply Basement subsidiaries). It is a duty to share my impartial experience of the company, both good and bad.

This review has been rewritten since posting a review. We have been intimidated with the threat of legal action in writing by the company for 'breach of contract' unless I remove this review. I used this platform to inform my decision before signing the contract and now makes sense why there are only 5 stars on here. Customers are being quashed by an unfair clause and 'restricted' to share any negative experience. I'm quite astounded by the behaviour of the company after 18 months of an extremely stressful relationship. Had I noticed they wanted a non disparagement clause - would have made me question the company to begin with.

I was a genuine customer of Simply Construction (Simply Extend) and I have personally never experienced a company like this. I felt it was such poor management and customer service from them, lacking in any form of responsibility or accountability on their part. The build itself took approx 6 months, however we had prior planning and preparation issues - mostly due to Customer service manager Lorraine Arnold and their appointed architect. The sales pitch from owner and director Rob Wood was extremely impressive and felt this was the company for us. After checking online reviews (5 star...I now know why) we signed up, paid our nearly £10k deposit, this is where things deteriorated and we never saw or heard from Rob again through the process.

Simply's appointed architect (Virtue Architecture) came to the house only once, big talks from them which felt like they were promising our dream kitchen. We wanted amends to certain design plans and requested glazing to be incorporated , they said it could be changed post planning submission but this was not the case - only changes we could have would be additional costs (so no dream kitchen as we anticipated). I've no architect experience but knew that the steel beam drawings and engineer work was not right. There was an entire large chimney breast on the 1st floor left unchecked and unsupported. A second set of drawings was made only to be realised by our builder on site that these were still wrong. 3rd time lucky, we had a surveyor friend who double checked over the drawings and made the necessary changes and checks. Extra £££ to the budget for missed beams and potential near miss of failed structural integrity to the house. 

This company appoints 3rd party builders and subcontracts (although under contract of Simply). They push all responsibility to the 3rd party (again not the safety net that we were told they offered). From my experience and months of being ignored by customer service when I consistently reached out for guidance or help managing something through and when I did, my impression was that of passive aggressive language by the customer service manager. The only positive I will say is that the 3rd party builder they appointed had common sense, experience and regular communication with us. 

Post all these issues, we then chased for 14 months for building control sign off. Months and months of Simply ignoring us, or the occasional 'we'll look into this'. Finally being told after all that time 'it's not our responsibility'...this sums up the entire project process. We were hoping for a company with good service, management and experience with structural integrity - this unfortunately was not in our case with Simply Extend.

UPDATE 18 Dec 2023: This review is no longer under legal investigation - due to the fact that this company withdrew their claim of suing us. A gag clause in a contract does not hold up in court and they learnt this by losing against another customer they were suing.

UPDATE 4 Jun 2024: this company has reissued another threatening legal letter to take use to court unless we remove our review from their review sites Simply Loft. Our contract was with Simply Extend and they are all part of the Simply Construction Group so don’t make the mistake this is a different company. I have removed the review from S Loft because I can’t take anymore from the company after 18+ months of legal threats. Do your due diligence, read the fine print and take caution if considering this company. We learnt the heard way.

Simply recently completed a side return extension to our terraced house in Hackney. The project went very smoothly through all stages and the costing and design done by their surveyor Phill fitted our needs perfectly.
Project manager Mark and his team were great to work with. His team are great people; friendly, helpful, very skilled, totally honest, and receptive to my requirements. Mark himself always answered the phone and visited the site almost every day.
The work was completed on time and on budget. It was such a relief to work with a team who got things done, and did them well.

We are very happy with our extension completed by Simply Extend.
Our Project Manager, Igli, and his team, were very professional and approachable at all times. They listened and actioned all our requests, giving advices and suggestion on the most effective technical solution. The Customer service and the architectural team were all very very professional and the quality of the structural work was impeccable. We would highly recommend Simply Extend. The whole team were superb and the site was left all clean and safe.

Couldn't be happier with how our kitchen extension went. So glad we chose this company, after having had terrible cowboy builder experiences, they handled everything with professionalism and the best quality tradespeople - would highly recommend!

We recently used Simply Extend services for our side project return at our house in Stoke Newington. We are so happy with the result. Simply were amazing, we had just had a baby, and were looking for a service that could help us end to end and make the process as smooth as possible. From the starting point of architectural drawings to getting planning permission and then setting us up with a great build team we were so impressed with how professional and easy the process was. Our build team were excellent, always on time, communicated along the way. Would definitely recommend Simply services!

Had two projects with simply extend. Lorraine was the most helpful person I have dealt with. She builds excellent relationships with both customers and the builders doing the work. Builders team is a bunch of excellent builders, very professional.

We've been wanting to do a side-return extension since we bought this house a couple of years ago but were struggling finding a partner that ticked all the boxes (value, architect design, building team, etc). When we met Simply Extend we were immediately seduced by the professionalism of their sales team and processes in place, and later when the work started, of their project manager and builders. The team on site (Andrew Topor and his team) not only did a great work building the extension and making sure all looks good and secured, they were communicating with us every step of the way, making sure we knew what was going on.
If I were to do a second extension, I would reuse Simply Extend and Andrew's team.

Really happy with our rear extension which wouldn't have happened without the help of Lorraine. In a challenging time for any build (during lockdown) Lorraine was the glue that held everything together.

Having considered a rear extension for a couple of years, the pandemic made us realise we needed more space. Simply Extend provided a very detailed quote with clarity on what was included and excluded in the cost. They provided contact details of work carried out by them in our area and after viewing a similar extension to what we wanted we decided to go with Simply Extend. The Simply Extend dashboard is great for keeping track of payments and managing variations for the project. Fantastic customer service provided by Holly and Lorraine, who were both really helpful in addressing any issues or concerns we had.

Simply Extend built a side return and 1st floor extension to create a new kitchen and additional bedroom for a Victorian terraced house in London. I chose this company as their quote was clear, comprehensive, and competitively priced. I also liked the reassurance of contracting with a company that was responsible for the sub-contracted builders, provided additional customer service, and a 10-year warranty.

We developed an excellent relationship with the PM who was in regular contact and always available which was important as we moved out for 6 months. The quality of the work was very good, particularly the brickwork, and as a result we added several additional jobs (the new rooms made the other rooms look shabby!). The neighbours also reported positively on the professionalism of the builders. The main build work was completed a little over the expected timeframe but move in ready with a few jobs and inevitable snags remaining.

Overall working with Simply Extend was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend the company.

Fantastic construction of a large singe storey rear extension, major house renovation and central heating work. The simply team provided 110% customer care and aftersales help. They were a single point of contact for my project needs, all the way through planning permission, architect's designs, construction and final touches. I was kept informed of my project's progress and requirements all the way through. Their online dashboard monitoring was fully transparent and real-time. Really pleased with the final outcome and attention to detail. Reffered them to other family and friends also. Thanks Simply.

I used Simply Extend for my side return extension on a terraced house. The team were on time and professional and provided some great design solutions I would not have thought of (e.g. placing boiler above bathroom door instead of kitchen to save space). My project manager Gosia was on hand to communicate updates and respond to queries and issues arising were dealt with in a timely and efficient way. The project ran to budget with the cost of my requested variations clearly communicated and competatively priced. I am really happy with the quality of the build and design which other tradesmen have also admired.

Quotes are very competitive, good set of building teams they work with. Importantly an excellent customer services team led by Lorraine. I have dealt with Lorraine on two projects of mine over last 4 years. Lorraine has never let me down when i have needed her assistance.

We've held back on writing our review for some time - there seemed little point in posting our thoughts until we'd had time to see how the workmanship stood up to a few years' wear and tear... and we can now safely report that the results are fantastic. No sagging, cracks or water ingress, and still looking great some three-and-a-bit years on.
During the build itself the team were punctual, polite and listened to any concerns that we might have. The final part of the build did go on a little longer than we hoped, but speaking to others who have had similar work done it seems that's more an industry standard than a problem with the build.
In terms of after-care, we'd like to give a big shout out to Lorraine who followed up with us to make sure we were fully finished and happy with the results.
All in all very happy with the work from Simply. So much so that we may well be using them for our next project.

Simply extend built a wonderful new bathroom extension for me, on time and in budget. The quality of the work is great and the builders doing it were incredibly tidy and polite, which was a good send given it was lockdown and I was at home with a baby!
