SkyServer is not a typical commercial hosting provider. It is an ambitious non-profit project developed as part of a final-year computer science thesis (Matura) in Switzerland. My goal is to make enterprise-grade hardware accessible to gamers while gathering crucial telemetry data for my research on container orchestration. Our Mission We believe that lag and expensive monthly fees shouldn't ruin the gaming experience. That’s why we offer dedicated servers for resource-heavy games like Satisfactory and Factorio – completely free for our beta testers. The Tech Stack Unlike budget hosts that oversell virtual private servers (VPS), we rely on powerful Dedicated Root Servers (hosted via Hetzner in Germany). Performance: High-frequency CPUs (Ryzen / Intel i9) and NVMe SSDs ensure that even the largest mega-factories run smoothly. Security: Every game server runs in an isolated Docker container, managed via the Pterodactyl panel. Transparency: There are no hidden fees or "pay-to-win" schemes. I fund the hardware personally as an investment in my education. In return, users help me by simply playing on the servers, allowing me to stress-test the infrastructure under real-world conditions. Privacy & Community We do not sell user data or track personal behavior. We are strictly interested in infrastructure metrics (CPU load, RAM usage) to validate the efficiency of our automated scaling scripts.
