Best Singing/Karaoke App
It's the best singing/karaoke app available and it has millions of songs. Removed songs are only a very small proportion and there are only a handful of artists where this happens. Most of the reviews on here are from "challenged" people obviously who don't know how to cancel a subscription or the ones that don't know how to use the simple interface to fix "synching problems". The studio and sound FX are fun and work well. It's cheap on android ($6 Australian a month) and the community and interaction is 99% positive and friendly. I've been using for around three years and have over 12000 recordings on Smule.
They will steal from you.
Absolutely disgusting. Cancelled before free trial and have been charged weekly for 22 weeks now. No way to cancel my subscription on my phone and no way to do so on their we site either. When I login on website there is no ‘account’ option under my profile.
I have reported as scam or fraud to Apple on their reportaproblem.apple.com website.
DO NOT use this company unless you want them to steal from you every week.
Absolutely terrible customer service
Absolutely terrible customer service! Smule have been taking unauthorised payments from me since Jan 11th 2022 when I asked for the money back they either ignored me or sent me exactly the same robotic email. I cannot get the money back from either Apple or the bank and have spent hours trying to get it back. One representative asked me to send in my bank statements so I trustingly sent this sensitive information in and they didn’t even acknowledges its receipt. They have no number so you can’t even talk to a person! Absolutely shocking customer service! Do not trust this company. It’s over £100 they have stolen from me.
A pleasant place to train in psychology…
A pleasant place to train in psychology and connecting with people but it's very plagiaristic and long term not as useful as training with people without filters. Much of the music is on there illegally so it's not worth risking your future supporting the network. It's why I didn't read the creators thesis.
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. They will continue charging your account, every year, regardless of subscription. The charges don't even appear in iTunes. Although the HQ is in San Francisco, they do NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER. Total scam.
An absolute delight
An absolute delight! I have multiple accounts on smule, all payed cus its the cheapest app ever. 1 personal and 2 group accounts. Like every app, smule has issues and changed a lot. In the past their helpdesk was not that helpful but I have absolutely no problems with that anymore! Their latest update about the layout wasn’t their best idea, although Im used by it now and they promised to keep improving it. The only sad thing is that the livejams from the past are not the same anymore! It helps you to get rid of scammers but still; unnecessarily complicated.

Waste of money and effort
It‘s an OK Karaoke App, but my main concern is that I can’t keep all songs in the catalogue on my profile as some are being taken down from time to time. I pay a yearly subscription and yet there are licensing problems with labels? I got really frustrated with this and I won’t use this app ever again. Waste of time, If you sing something and you can’t keep it on your profile because of copyright. Not recommended.

STAY AWAY - NOT WORTH IT. I just realised I've been paying these scam artists £10 per week for over a year. I used the app once and deleted the app. Not a real big app user but once I discovered I was paying for this, I searched for how to complain and get a refund, but ha ha, silly me, Google is not there to help. They've scammed over £500 from me.
Future of Smule on their own Engineers
Since two months, there have been several issues with the Smule App, with practically all users experiencing various types of troubles; I have personally lodged three complaints in this month alone; anytime they release and update, there will undoubtedly be some difficulty. After becoming dissatisfied with this app, practically all of my friends cancelled their subscriptions and switched to SM. Nowadays, SM is considerably superior to Smule; Smule has collapsed due to feature experimentation; this will never work, and the dominator of singing apps is dwindling by the second. They should, at the very least, keep a watch on their engineers; otherwise, it might be preferable not to collect subscriptions.
Disappointment, out of sync
I downloaded Smule a few weeks ago thinking that I would be able to sing with people all over the world. I thought it would be cool, but it was just a disappointment. It was glitchy and had a lot of bugs that needed fixing. My timing was off on the recordings, even though I was bang on during the recording. The music tabs went way too fast for the songs, everything is just so out of sync. I was astonished that it's not more fine tuned, after all, it is a singing app. It should be better than it is.
I use to love smule, now it breaks my heart
I'm deeply disappointed on smules changes, especially after the latest updates (it's not like they haven't made changes for the worse before, but this is quickly becoming the last draw). The audio is totally unacceptable :
it's static, white noice on every recording, sounding robotic and in every way distorted, buzzing, wheezing, glitchy, broken, tunnel/cave effect, volume spikes to max uncontrollably, or it doesn't register your vocals at all and/or the voice is muffled (sounds like trying to sing from six feet under), no matter how you adjust your vocals before saving it comes out heavily auto tuned and with a huge reverb or almost completely dry or then just DISTORTED. (and have to add, that all the above happens with both; external mic system and headphones built-in mic)
The app cache gets LOADED over just opening the app, which was never the case before, app crashing and freezing over nothing all the time, notifications of a network problem? (I have a stable connection, and none of the issues appear on any other app, only Smule!)
I've seen hundreds of complaints about these very same issues on smules review page on play store, anthey are building up day by day! People pleading Smule to fix the whole android scene, pleading to convert to the previous versions... And heard also from some iOs users, that some are struggling with very similar issues. Not sure if it's as widely affecting the iOs as it sure is with androids.
Their so called customer support is a waste of time, has always been if you are filing a complaint! They actually try to put the blame on their customers and also escape their responsibility fixing anything or admiting that they have made a mistake! But that is pretty much what they do, always! Only if you report a spam or a scam or something obvios, it works for the most part...
But as far as the "development"/managing of the app, They never listen to their customers, especially android users they treat really BAD, they don't care. They are really losing it after every update!
I use to love this app, now it's not even possible to use it for me due severe issues prior stated here, I hate the audio changes the most! However the changes on the layout have also been destructive, none user friendly at all!
Btw, seen a lot of complaints about smule ripping off peoples money without permission... My advice, never subscribe a VIP thru play store, I've always bought my VIP thru their website smule.com,I recommend it for all (if you really want to pay for it at it's current state..) on their sites the price is same for everyone, and you won't end up paying douple even if you would use your account on both android and iOs.
Anyways I canceled my VIP, I don't want to finance their crazy *ss experiments anymore! Still wish they would fix this and really rethink how they manage Smule, but really not getting my hopes up on that...Really breaks my heart that smule destroyed it all for so many loyal customers!
I never had any problems paying for it as long as the app and interface worked properly, now unfortunately it is really not worth it!
Smule use to be great, it use to be the best social singing platform! I really can't understand how they benefit from f'cking up their own money sling... Well guess I don't have to, really miss the old smule, wish it would be possible to revert back to the way it was like atleast before styles release... That's when things really started to go downhill IMO.

this app has charged me for a subscription renewal without even so much as a notification of renewal , i haven't had this app on my phone for years so imagine my surprise when a chunk of money was taken out of my account without any warning :(
Rethink how you manage this app Smule
I downloaded the app to check it out, with the intention of deleting the app before the end of the trial period (because I didn't want to pay for an app that I wouldn't use.) I didn't like Smule but I'm sure other people might, so I'm not complaining for this reason. When I went to cancel, I realised that there is no option to cancel via the app and I found it incredibly to find any information about cancelling! I have multiple learning difficulties and I strongly feel that this app is discriminatory due to it's layout and the lack of clarity about how to cancel. In my opinion, Smule makes this process confusing to keep consumers tied into a rolling contract. As someone with SpLD, I find that this happens to me a lot and I often lose money because I find processes like Smule's challenging and it's easy for me to give up and forget...until I rack up a huge bill. I hate companies like this and I strongly feel that you need to be more transparent with all of your consumers and make cancellations easier for everyone. Your process is absolutely discriminatory to SpLD consumers. I've only been charged £9.99 so far and it's unlike me to be proactive like this and make a complaint. I'm just sick and tired of this happening to me and I'm disgusted with Smule's service.

Scammers and frauds on Smule
The app used to be good but now it has got scammers who use the app to scam singers.
Unfortunately Smule has not done anything about this. Infact there is a VERIFIED singer who is a professional scammer and has abused singers on the platform. Smule has not done anything even after receiving multiple complains and evidences and has tried to go out of the way to protect him by taking unnecessary action on singers who complain about him
Smule has no grouping of recordings
Smule has no grouping of recordings. If you sing 50 thousand songs, all the 50 thousand will be in a long list with noway to see the recordings below the top 1000. You can scroll down but tghe scrolling is unacceptably slow. Moreover if you tap on a recording and come back you will be again at the top. Again scroll down to find the next recording. The app does not remember scroll positions. The same happens when you scroll down thru hundreds of invites. The app shows the top almost always when coming back to any list.
Gifts purchased and sent to other singers are not prominently displayed on the song page. One year ago gifts were seen moving one by one below the song when playing. Now it is hidden in an almost invisible link Gifts. The only reason for gifts seems to be getting money from the users and not showing them to the singer who received it. How selfish!
There are no timestamp on recordings. They have some crude logic to show times in seconds, minutes, hours, days and months. At the top of the list it sows 10s, 2min etc... further down hundreds of recordings will show 2months. No way to find out when exactly you sang a song. Again below these they will show 2years. Smule has no idea how a singer would like to see the songs time-stamped. Why can't they timestamp each recording? Moreover why can't they show recordings like in a blog separated into different dates?
When an invite is expired they show a large negative number with minutes attached to it! What do they want to convey from it?
There is no way to tag your followers as a favorite or not. If you follow someone all invites are dumped into your notifications whether you want them or not. Why can't they allow one to mark a singer as favorite and include only that singers invites in the notification?
The all-important question of whether a singer is following you is not available nowhere except from a list of Followers. On the song page they don't show whether the singer is following you. On an invite page also no information on whether that singer is following you. Makes you think that none of the people involved with the app uses it for themselves!
Worst, on the Followers page they tag every singer as Following! as if that information was not available in the title itself. They should have marked whether that singer is following you instead.
Their Messages feature is in the jurassic days. You cannot even erase a message you typed inadvertently. This is the best way to alienate your friends by typing something you just didn't mean at all. It is very much a cemetery wherever you scratch bones come up of your year old messages! You cannot even say a Hi here confidently!
There are so many bad things in this app. There is no response other than a computer generated msg for anything you ask them.
