Complete incompetence. What kind of company is this? I registered an account and assumed all was OK. I recently received a message to say I was overdue on a bill. I followed the link, and it took me to my old account. After several failed attempts (email, calls facebook) at contacting SoCalGas, I was told I had not registered an account, yet my new details are on their system. SoCalGas clearly has serious technical issues. My guess is you can't register a new account with a previously used email address. That's absurd if true. Customers services were useless and said I should login in with my other email address. I explained I had just registered that email address while being transferred to speak to someone. I lost patience at that point.

My gas was cut off in my new home right before the Holidays. That is cruel and cynical. We are left with no way to cook over Christmas. Apparently, a transfer of services from my previous address had not been made. I received a letter, but no other attempts were made to communicate that there was a problem. Services can't be resumed until after the Holidays. Thank you, SoCal, for ruining our Christmas.

Orlando V arrived right on time to light our water heater’s pilot light. He did a thorough job and then went on to help us with a couple other gas related problems we had in our home. He was so kind. We are an older couple and he even helped us with our garbage disposal! :)

Biggest rip off company besides SoCal Edison. Fraudulent price gouging and only happens here in California because of our lame governor. So Cal Gas, your rates are not substantiated and you lie cheat and steal from your customers. I am tired of being held hostage by a substandard company with horrific business values and practices. We need options because you are killing California residents and businesses with your evil billing practices and illegal gouging. We need a De Santis style governor that works for the people and not for his greedy self.
Contact is nearly impossible
Web site is the pits. My Mother - their customer - passed away recently. They sent an unpaid bill notice with extra charges. There is no email, no online chat, nothing except a miserable phone number to use, and I'm sure I will have to wait for hours on the phone. Since I live outside the US, this is going to drive me nuts. But why would they help, when they can fail and get the same amount of money from everyone?

After spending 10 minutes filling out the online form, their system reported an "Oops! Something went wrong". Tried again, same thing. Tried two days later. Same thing. Chat CS said "system was down, apply by mail". Printed form had $200 less rebate amount than the website showed.
Shoddy job SoCalGas
Went through fumigation. The turn off went okay as I was available. The turn back on after the tent was off...not so good. No warno as to when the tech was coming by. House key was in the designated place. No joy when I was at work and family was out of the house finding out we missed the tech and had to wait 24 hours. Tech came out the following day and turned on the gas but broke the button on the pilot light. Made me feel like I was downrange dealing with subpar infrastructure.

I called to set up service at the customer contact center and came to know service already existed under our company name but the customer serivce flatly denied giving us acc info and the date since the service was established and asked me to wait for the first bill due to " SO CALLED" security reasons which is ridiculous and outrageous. Absolutely pathetic level of functioning and policy making
You won’t be able to speak to an agent………
I had a question about my bill. When I called, I got put in their “Call-back” queue. When that came, a recording said “Press 1 to speak to an agent”. Nothing happened when I did. Called again- same problem. Tried their “Report a gas leak” number, and lady apologized, and said she would get me to someone for help. I was shunted to the “Call-back” queue again! Finally, I called and managed to stay on hold for an agent. After 5 minutes or so, I was sent into the “Call-back” queue a third time! After waiting again, I finally got a person! He said “I will get you to that department”, and guess where I ended up? Yep, that’s right! Their Help Center STINKS.
corporate stupidity
SCE is so stupid it doesn't know my email or name but i'v had the service at 5805 equador in buena park since 2014 - tying to pay online is futil because the setup is ridiculously stupid & virtualy un-navigable - get different programmers & ask US how to set up accounts online that we can actualy USE - i shood at least be able to get a balance check without having to play guessing games with a stupid setup
Gas odor Yucca Valley
I smelled a very faint gas odor. I called Southern California Gas and within 30 minutes the tech arrived. I forgot to get his name but he was polite, professional and wore clothing with the logo and ID badge. He checked every appliance, the fireplace, water heater, and furnace. It was the oven and he did an adjustment. He also checked the meter and gas lines, all good. The odor is now gone and we have such peace of mind. Thank you!!
Just had Danny from So Cal Gas come to…
Just had Danny from So Cal Gas come to our house in Chino Hills for a service call. He went above and beyond with the service and even replaced parts on our dryer where he detected a leak. He was very professional and very polite. It was definitely a pleasant experience. I wish all service calls were this good.
SoCalGasCo follow up
This review is for Mr. Matthew Maguire, Team Lead Customer Service and Mr. Jose Quinteros, Field Technician from So Cal Gas Co. These are the 2 gentleman that IMMEDIATELY followed up to correct all that went haywire with SoCalGasCo the day before explained in my previous review . Mr. Maguire contacted me the following morning with a genuine deep concern to correct the issue and arranged to have Jose there first thing in morning to reinstate service. Jose is an amazing considerate talented polite and very knowledgeable young man. Both gentleman are models of how customer service should be and should have been provided. We were fortunate and grateful to have had them at our disposal. They are both an asset to SoCalGasCo.
I need to wait 10 days for SoCalGas service
I need to wait 10 days for SoCalGas to turn on service. Meanwhile, I have no gas stove, no hot water for 10 days.
-The first time I called on 6/22/2023, the lady messed up address and the service person went to a wrong house on 6/22 evening.
-The second time I called on 6/23, I was told the service person doesn't work on weekend and I will need to wait till Monday 6/26. However, the service person didn't show up.
-I called the third time on 6/26 afternoon and was told the appointment is now Monday 7/3.
Poor communication
Called about smelling gas at the meter. The good stuff, easy to report and they came rather quickly. But the communication skills of the technician were lacking. From answering with "soon", when I asked what the ETA was to repeating the same thing over when I asked for clarification on what he was going to do, he just was very confusing. HE complained about the plumber and suggested all sorts of things that I should have a plumber come do--and When I said the shut off valve was hard to get to for a homeowner to shut off the gas, he said, well that is for the gas company to use. I said so you come shut off the gas if I need it and come back to turn it back on? Well no--you should have a plumber come and put in another shut off for you. Absurd.

I really wish I could contact someone within the company to leave feedback, but I guess this will do. I am a new customer, and recently moved into my new home with my wife and kids. We've had PG&E for years, not realizing that PG&E doesn't provide gas on this side of town I called SoCalGas to start service, we are moved in for about a month and our gas was turned off. We are without heat and hot water and they won't be able to come out and flip the switch for another 2 weeks.
In the past PG&E has always had more than enough technicians to send out for ant reason we had, I'm really disappointed we have to go through SoCalGas for service.

The worst company and customer service ever!
I am the customer for 3 years and I only had one late payment bc my bank account was frozen and It wasn't my fault, It was just a mistake from my bank. They locked my account and didn't let me enter my bank info and pay my bill! And now they refused to waive my only 1 late payment and the person on the customer service talked to me like a person without any feeling and kindness. She just referred me to her supervisor. All other financial institutes and banks waive one late payment but they don't!
Also They increase the gas rate a lot on feb 2023 they keep increasing their prices and it is not reasonable!
So Cal Gas technician never showed up…
So Cal Gas technician never showed up to turn my gas back on after a minor repair. The representative told me they were here for approximately 15 minutes at 3. I have checked every Ring camera within 4 houses surrounding me and they were never here. They flat out lied. The representative blamed me for not calling and checking where the technician was. Silly me I trusted them. I am elderly and was without heat.
