Ryan was great from start to finish. Not only does he know his stuff technically, he took his time to understand our needs, walking us through options and answering our questions in detail. He recommended a system that is value for money, with no unnecessary costs. Installation proceeded exactly as he said it would, really good job by all his men, who also took care to clean up behind themselves. Even after the system was commissioned, Ryan took care to ensure we were up and running well and has checked in from time to time since to make sure everything is working ok.

Sola have been brilliant and I'd recommend them to anyone considering adding solar panels and/or a battery to your house.

The longer version:

Great communication from start to finish, Ryan visited really promptly following my initial call to do a survey to see how many panels could go on the roof, decide on routes for cable runs and discuss suitable places for the battery to go. From there the quote was provided quickly (I think the same day) and once accepted he got onto the application to UK Power Networks immediately - this is something you need to be able to export any excess solar to the grid and I've heard that some installers wait until after the installation to do this which puts you on very thin ice if it happens to be declined. UKPN came back very quickly which confirmed we could have the inverter size I wanted and I only had to wait a couple of weeks for the install day - everyone involved with the installation were very polite guests in our home and despite my install being a bit more complex than some, it was all wrapped up within 2 days (and they even put up with my extra requests such as connecting the inverter using a network cable to my router instead of wireless and they even ran the cable for me). The scaffolding was put up the day before and taken down a couple of days later. There were a couple of tiles broken by the scaffolders which were repaired the following day without fuss by Ryan.

All of the admin was sorted really quickly - I have all of the warranty details, equipment specs and MCS certificates needed in a handover pack. My export meter info was received via email from UKPN a few days later and all I needed to do was apply for an export tariff with my electricity provider.

It's also worth mentioning the kit supplied - in my case a GivEnergy battery and inverter was installed and it's fantastic - we can obviously charge the batteries from solar but also overnight on the off-peak rate and it will also work with smart tariffs such as Octopus Flux. It comes with an app which gives you a really good overview of what's going on. It's some of the best you can get at a reasonable price and most other installers with comparable quotes specified much worse equipment like pylontech batteries and solis inverters which don't have the support, warranty, app or integrate with each other as well as the GivEnergy kit.

Even though we had our installation done in October we've already seen a drop in our bills, never needing peak rate electricity and supplementing a lot of our use from the solar panels.

Overall I'd recommend Sola to anyone looking for solar panels - great kit, installation, communication, warranty and Ryan is also just a really nice guy!

Installation went smoothly, the only hiccups were due to post-COVID supply chain and roofing-contractor availability problems, beyond the control of Sola. They kept me informed and we're very available to answer any questions I had.
