Dear Steve,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on our speed optimization service. We truly value all feedback, positive or negative, as it helps us improve our services. Our team upholds high standards of service and integrity, so we were dismayed by the unfounded claims made against us.

We understand that misunderstandings can occur, and we're here to address any legitimate concerns you may have. However, we cannot let false statements go unchallenged, as they can harm our reputation and credibility.

We completed your speed optimization on May 9, 2023, and emphasized testing and reviewing the new theme post-publishing to ensure everything is working as expected as a few things can break due to the changes made so to say that we did not tell you about “the potential for conflicts arising” is completely untrue. Despite offering complimentary 7-day support, we didn't hear back from you and your team until January 29, 2024, regarding a code that was added to your theme. The developers who worked on your project confirmed that they did not add it and we communicated this to you transparently. To say that they denied responsibility is simply inaccurate, as there was no responsibility for them to deny in the first place, given that they were not responsible for adding the code.

Our lead developer explained to you that we have only edited the layout/theme.liquid and added our proprietary async loader for PSI optimization as part of our SOP. He also confirmed that our dev team does not modify the social meta tags file or add obfuscated code labeled to be from other platforms. While it’s unfortunate that the code existed in the theme that our team worked on, it’s unfair to blame it on us as we have no control over what other people or apps do to your theme eight months after our work is done.

Even so, our lead developer investigated the code free of charge and proposed to remove the code and refactor it for you and even included a 20% discount on additional services so your statements that we were “horrendous to deal with” and that we “refused to help” are 100% not true.

For your second project in February 2024, concerns arose about deleted SKUs. We clarified that we were not involved and provided resources to help investigate. This incident raised concerns about site changes happening without your team's knowledge, prompting us to cancel the project and issue a full refund as a gesture of goodwill. We prioritize maintaining professional relationships and promptly processed your refund.

Regarding your claims against Tom and Frances - insinuating that they were either unaware of our team's actions or intentionally lied about it is completely off-base. We've reviewed all your email exchanges, and there's no indication of any dishonesty or negligence on their part. Instead, both Tom and Frances diligently asserted that our team did not add the code in question, provided detailed explanations to support it, and even went the extra mile to help you resolve the issue despite the circumstances.

We also appreciate your concerns about the longevity of our optimization services. We aim to provide lasting benefits and ensure the best return on investment for our clients through our optimization services. While many of our changes are designed to be future-proof, it's important to recognize that speed optimization isn't permanent, especially with significant site changes. Similar to a car tune-up, performance can improve temporarily, but subsequent modifications may require further attention. This applies universally to all speed optimization services.

In conclusion, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this situation may have caused you. We've always aimed to be transparent, professional, and committed to resolving any issues, and it's disheartening to see our efforts misrepresented in this way.

You reached out to us again last October looking for help with your theme update needs. We understand your concerns about the theme update process, and we want to address them to be more transparent and clear.

We would like to clarify that at no point were you told not to update your theme anymore. In fact, during your Entrepreneur Plus project, the developer who worked on your site suggested scheduling a theme update to the latest version later in the year. We have always encouraged clients to keep their themes up to date for optimal performance.

Regarding the $900 monthly retainer, we offered you two options for the theme update task. One was to enroll in a retainer program, which included 10 hours of development work to assist with any site-related needs. Alternatively, we also offered to provide you with a quote for the specific theme update task if the retainer program did not align with your preferences.

We understand your frustration with the lack of detailed instructions for the theme update. However, we want to emphasize that there was no intention of a "bait and switch." Aside from the fact that providing instructions for how to update your theme is not part of the Entrepreneur Plus service, theme updates are not automated processes, and each update is unique due to the introduction of new code and changes. While some themes have automated updaters, the customizations on your site necessitate a manual code merge, to ensure compatibility and to prevent potential issues that may break your site.

Our primary goal is to deliver exceptional service and ensure your website operates smoothly and remains up to date. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.

You opted for our Entrepreneur Plus package, where our developers work comprehensively on your entire theme. Contrary to your claim, we did not optimize just 2% of your total pages. Our developers make direct code changes to your theme, affecting a significant portion of your site, including home, product, collection, and blog pages.

Upon completion of the project, our team provided you with detailed reports showcasing the modifications made, along with before-and-after results. Our commitment to transparency ensures that you have a clear understanding of the improvements achieved on your home, collection, and product pages.

It's crucial to note that our Google PSI Optimization service, a part of the Entrepreneur Plus package, guarantees a mobile score of 65+ and a desktop score of 95+. At no point did we claim to achieve a 2-second loading time for your site. This information was communicated to you both before purchase and after your concerns were raised post-project.

While there may be additional optimizations that could be made, they fall outside the project scope. In such cases, our developers include recommendations in the post-optimization report to guide you on the next steps.

Regarding your refund request, we honor our refund policy when the criteria are met. In your case, as we fulfilled the services you purchased and achieved significant improvements for your site, a refund could not be processed. We hope you understand our position on this matter.

At the end of the project, we were able to achieve these improvements for your site:

👉 Page weight decreased by up to 72%
👉 Number of requests decreased by up to 71%
👉 Loads up to 65% faster

On the Google PSI side, we also achieved the following:
👉 On the homepage, we achieved a +124% gain on Mobile and a +25% gain on Desktop.
👉 On the collections page, we achieved a +70% gain on Mobile and a +8% gain on Desktop.
👉 On the product page, we achieved a +114% gain on Mobile and a +4% gain on Desktop.

Mobile scores for your home, collection, and product pages are 94, 85, and 92 respectively while your desktop scores are 99, 99, and 100 - well above the 65+ and 90+ that we guarantee.

The service you purchased involves one of our developers spending an hour troubleshooting and analyzing a specific issue that you've identified. In your case, the issue was related to Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) errors. It's important to note that the CLS errors are not directly related to your Shopify store, so there was no need for our developer to log into your Shopify admin.

Instead, he focused on the CLS errors, which reside within your Google Search Console account. He did log into the appropriate platform to investigate and address the specific issue you wanted us to analyze.

Contrary to your claim, our developer did not work for just five minutes. We meticulously record our developers' time, and the process of analyzing the CLS errors, identifying a solution, creating a detailed report, and providing supporting video documentation took well over the allocated hour.

Despite delivering the service you purchased, we are committed to customer satisfaction. As a gesture of goodwill, we have processed a full refund for your order, even in the face of challenges. Our aim is to ensure a positive experience for all our customers, and we're here to address any further concerns you may have.

Updating themes to the latest version falls outside the scope of our project, as it could potentially introduce compatibility issues and conflicts with your existing setup. We want to emphasize that our developers cannot delete templates or uninstall apps directly due to the limitations set by Shopify. Our optimization efforts are targeted at improving the existing structure without compromising essential elements of your store.

The claim of rolling back your homepage every couple of days is not accurate.
