We discovered evidence of a rodent infestation shortly after arrival, including rat droppings under the beds and in the living area. The couch was visibly damaged and appeared to have been chewed by rodents, and the unit had a strong odor.

We immediately contacted the host and provided photos documenting the condition. Due to health and safety concerns, we left the property right away and had to book another hotel. Unfortunately, we were not provided a refund despite leaving almost immediately after discovering the issue.

I would strongly recommend confirming pest control and cleanliness before booking this property

They are the absolute worst company

They are the absolute worst company. We checked in to our rental on July 31st and left the next day. I contacted them upon arrival because the septic was overflowing and you could not stay outside. Then going inside was not any better. First the house was filthy!! Then there were maggots falling from the ceiling in the room downstairs roaches in the kitchen and mold on the ceiling. Hair on the sheets so we had to wash everything at the laundromat just to sleep there for the night. One toilet didnt flush and two sinks didnt go down. We were a party of 20 so we had to find another place to go that is why we only stayed the one night. We got out of there the next day had to go to Houston. Company has terrible customer service and they keep saying they are checking on a refund. I disputed with my cc company and I also filed a complaint with the attorney generals office. I will file a complaint with the department of health also. Good luck everyone.

DO NOT rent from StayBeachBox - safety violations; misrepresented property; horrible customer service

The property was represented by pictures and words.
*Prior to arrival I questioned them on the "arcade" and "playground" that they noted as Guest Favorites on the Property Details page. They replied that they were not at the property. I had to follow up and ask where they were. They replied with a link to Galveston area info where I could look up locations for entertainment. They clearly missed the point of the question. They might as well have listed a ferris wheel and roller coaster as Guest Favorites because they are on the Pleasure Pier 12 minutes away

* Upon arrival we found a property that was very different from the one in the listing. Siding was falling off the house, the rooms had different bed configurations which meant we had to re-decide where everyone would sleep, there were four significant fire and safety concerns (an outlet missing a cover plate, an improperly installed outlet [not correctly rated and a trip hazard in the main living space floor], lights for the stairs for which the switch had to be set in the middle to turn off the light), deck boards that were broken, sagging, or had large rotted places. The Cowboy pool was filthy. All the decking was severely weathered with broken boards or severely sagging causing trip hazards. Deck lights outside the downstairs bedroom that could not be turned off [no switch] and no curtains on the bedroom to block light or provide privacy - took three days and two maintenance crews to fix this. The electrician was on vacation. Water out of all taps was just over warm except the showers which were look warm, almost cold, due to the aeration [complaint of some prior guests]. Mattress covers were FILTHY covered in debris and hair (we had to purchase our own because BeachBox failed to replace as requested three times). Almost inoperable sliding door that injured my son. We bought a grill because the one at the property was so rusted the coal grate was falling out. All issues were reported and maintenance came out twice but fixed only two issues. They made one issue worse - the ground level room entry door was swollen because it was interior grade - installed outdoors. Genius. It stuck on the vertical jamb and lesser so on the floor. Had to be slammed shut and pulled on a few times to close all the way. Had to be hit and pushed into several times to open. The maintenance guys cut off about 2" from the bottom of the door. Did NOT fix the problem but did allow two crabs in the room on two separate nights after the "repair" and two frogs on our last night in the property. A bunk bed in one of the rooms was so wobbly we couldn't use it due to fear of collapse. Advertised as having a vacuum and broom. It did not and took three days to get them. Couch in the living room was sectional. One section was falling apart in the back, framing was exposed [another safety issue] and the fabric was falling off. refrigerator is not working correctly. We know it can take a while to cool items when first loaded but a 1 gallon container of water in the freezer was barely cold after about 36 hours. Items in the fridge took way too long to cool even when added a few days after arrival.

* Communication was delayed and cumbersome. They used the Vrbo app, text, and email.

* Eric [Director of Guest Services] was marginally responsive after he got involved.

* Harrison Yat [co-founder] has not responded to several contact attempts.

Beach Box has Bed Bugs and doesn't care!

The house we rented from Beach Box has Bed Bugs, Roaches and Mold. We contacted the Property Manager and provided absolute proof with time-stamped, date-stamped, mapped pictures of the house. The manager called us liars and has refused to refund our money even though we did not stay there. We booked it through VRBO and they refuse to do anything to help. What's even worse? I wrote a factual review of the property and VRBO refused to post it. The pictures on the VRBO website are many years old and do not reflect the current state of the property. The bedding and mattresses are stained with blood drippings from the bed bugs sucking on previous guests! The property manager is a dishonest piece of garbage.

The place was dirty

The place was dirty, no cleaned from previous customer. The pictures didn't match up to the house, misleading. Their customer service was useless and not helpful with the situation. Will never use them again, I recommend you avoid them.

Beachbox worst rental company…

Beachbox Vacation Rentals worst company ever for rental listing's. Worst customer services! They will not help you with any problems you have had with rentals that you rent thru them. We stayed in a property listed on vrbo and this place was a completely disgusting unsanitary property. The house wasn't cleaned before we arrived. We showed up and called the owner of the property telling him it was left disgusting and unsanitary. He responded he was sorry but the he didn't get cleaners out there until the 3 day we were there. So we had to buy cleaning supplies the first day to do all the cleaning ourselves. We had $400 in out of pocket cleaning products including shop vac and mops and paper towels and disinfected wipes. Pool cleaners showed up on the 3rd day and told us that the pool we had been swimming in for the 2 previous days didn't have a filtering system or pump that worked. And they haven't been out to clean the pool in a month so we were swimming in a unsanitary disgusting pool! We reached out to Beachbox and sent in 30 plus pictures and videos of this disgusting property. We also let them know the back doors don't lock so we were staying a property that wasn't safe or secure for our multiple families. Every staff member apologize and said they would never have been able to stay there and the would work to get us refunded. Today marks 6 weeks since we stayed at that property and Beachbox contacted us and said they can't give us any type of reimbursement for cleaning supplies or refund for stay due to cleanliness???? Which is absolutely horrible!!! We will be filing legal actions and just submitted all pictures and videos and correspondence from Beachbox to the health department! I hope there property get closed down along with VRBO! No body should have to go through this! It's a horrible business practice!
